I have to say I miss watching your videos, Ingrid. Amidst all the stress and chaos of moving, you still remain calm and collected. You're exuding some peaceful vibe and I love it! Can't wait for your apartment tour.
I am absolutely appalled at what I am reading in the comment section. What happened? I’ve been a subscriber since 2011 and can’t remember a time seeing this many negative comments on one of Ingrid’s videos. People are critiquing her face, what she shows, what she doesn’t show, what she says. If you don’t like her face, voice, personality, why are you here? Life is far too short to waste it watching content you don’t enjoy. There’s so much other content out there if this isn’t your thing. Go find it. If Ingrid isn’t your thing, she won’t ever be. She won’t change who she is.
Huh. Your driver talking about your “husband” reminds me of a co worker I had once. He was yelling at me about how it must be nice to sit at home and have my man pay all my bills for me. I was like “um... you’re telling me this.. at work... I work for a living, just like you. Literally JUST like you. With the same job.” Men can be so lost sometimes 😂😂
Like i know that vlogmas can be super stressful but even if you did a laidback once a week kinda vlogmas even that would be amazing, i mean you are literally the queen of vlogmas!
I lived in NY for a while and It dosen't really have white snow 😂😂 its very dirty and the snow is more yellow than white. But in Coronado the snow is beautiful 😂😂😍😍💕💕
HOLD up. Okay, for someone to be that nasty to you, not just with one call but a few, you shouldn't have let him off!!! You should have informed his supervisor and make the supervisor aware, as he may continue with his rudeness with other customers. He has no right...No one has the right to be rude! I used to be the "nice person" who would let it go...however, I have a voice, whether it be through calls, letters, text. I ensure my voice is heard.
Totally, and the same with the movers!! They should have paid for the flights to be changed as they didn't give the proper notice, AND they broke the mirror!
Ingrid, it's always such a joy to watch you because you're so honest and real. You take the time to honor yourself as a person, but also acknowledge the role you have by keeping your followers informed. Welcome to NYC! I always wish I'll run into you in the streets! You're amazing! And I think we would be friends!
Learning how to pause is one of the best mindful practices for so many different situations. Good for you for remaining composed when dealing with the difficult car man! Much love and good vibes to you Ingrid xoxo
Ingrid, I just love you! I can honestly say that I have just grown with you, everything you have been through has helped me to improve as well. I miss your podcast so much, but I'm happy to see you continue doing great positive things career-wise and personally!
That is so sweet she unpacked a few things for you! When I moved from WI to upstate NY it was such a mess. When the movers came to get my stuff it was -25 outside without windchill. The movers showed up to deliver my stuff on Christmas Day and then our neighbors caused a septic back up into our basement! It was such a hot mess. Thankfully the guys delivering my stuff were really nice.
I appreciate your ability to stay positive even when the move didn't go so smooth. Watching your videos remind me to not stress over the small stuff when those inconveniences are temporary. Thank you for that :)
Dude, this is the realest NYC move. There is just no way to move to that city that isn't a set of weird headaches and strange things happening and people you employ randomly losing their shit over things you can't control. Thankfully once the move is over it is OVER. But I don't know a single person, myself included, who has moved to New York and had it go at all smoothly. Quite frankly you would've been met with a lot of resentful reactions if you didn't have a moving horror story to share along with everyone else :D
I’m all about letting it go but please tell me you at least reached out to that hysterical man’s supervisor to make them aware of how poorly he treated you. UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR.
Thank you for this video. I'm graduating from college this December and will then be moving for the fifth time in four years. No matter how many times I move, it's always a stressful experience that puts me out of my comfort zone for a few weeks. I'm not looking forward to it, but I'll try and cultivate patience and overcome the general anxiety of moving as you've shown in this vlog. Best of luck to you!
I just love your attitude towards life in general and I'm sure this new chapter in NYC will bring you so much joy when you settle down. Can't wait to watch the apartment tour! xx
I like the approach you used for this vlog which was to use every not so positive moment as a lesson and how you are dealing with it all. It seemed very genuine and I would like to hear more about the methods you’ve used to cultivate patience. This is something I struggle with and currently trying to work on so any good pointers and in-depth advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to the tour video. I’m a long time subscriber so it’s great to see you grow as I also grow.
I loved this vlog because you showed some of the difficulties and reality of your life. I’ve loved watching you, but recently have clicked on your videos less because I felt like I couldn’t relate as well. You’re so kind, beautiful and perfect, so I want to say thanks for showing us a “real life” side to you’re life 😊💕
I would love to hear how you deal with anxiety living in a big city. I adore visiting NYC and sometimes have an urge to move there but I'm scared my anxiety would be outrageous- mostly with navigating, how to get to a doctor if necessary, etc. That may all sound crazy but just curious how you manage these stresses.
Liz Holland as a native NYer i would feel like it’s easier here bc there are soooo many drs around! I too have a lot of anxiety but I feel better here where things are easily accessible than places that are too quiet and everything seems to be far away
Girl, I moved to NYC last year from the Midwest and I had the same sort of things happen to me. Moving across the country can be so stressful, but take it in stride and just focus on the exciting things to come!
Good for you Ingrid for handling that driver the proper way. Never let anyone walk all over you. You are strong! Can't wait to continue to follow you on this new adventure. 🙃
I love how you mentioned letting go of negative situations that occur so that they don’t affect the rest of your day or week, It’s difficult but so needed! I’m working on that.
i just did marathon on her vlogs last night and now i'm watching this vlog!! she never changes!! the way she talk, the way she vlog, its soo good to see people that you like never changes!! its like watching an old vlog again!! sorry for my english..
ive lived in NYC all of my life, I hope it doesnt freak you out too much. some people find it overwhelming. make sure you get out and experience alllllll of the boroughs
The things you said in the end about being more relaxed and dealing with things as they come nowadays was really nice - I thought the same throughout the video when you remained so calm and relaxed about the delay and the broken mirror and the leaking washer. This type of thing could have totally thrown you off, but you were so positive about it! I think when you can reach that stage of calm, then moving in and sorting everything out is no longer that daunting. Edited to add that I, too, love it when my mum is around for such tasks now that I am an adult :-). We have so much fun doing this stuff together!
So happy to have a vlog from you, it’s been so long!! Your vlogs used to be some of my favourites so it’s great that you’re in a place where you’re feeling comfortable sharing a little more with us!💗💗💗
Congratulations on your move. I know it can be exhausting and exciting at the same time. I just moved fr0m California to Colorado last month, so I understand moving is definitely a long process. I enjoy being able to look at it as a fresh start. I wish you continued success in all that you do!
I'm an interior designer and I have to say everything about this space so far looks beautiful. The natural stain floras is beautiful and calming and the kitchen...one of my favorite combinations in a kitchen is natural wood and marble (bookmatched marble!) and the cabinet wood is so incredible...please don't paint that wood over. Giirrl, so many things went wrong and you are still going and being soo calm, I have honestly so much respect. Moving isn't something simple, it's difficult in so many ways.. and that guy who drove your car, screw him.. what a jerk... In the end it all comes togehter and is working out :)
I love this vlog and how much you reflect on how your past self would have handled it! I love seeing this growth and I hope to be at a place like this one day.
The guy who drove your car sounds awful! Watching this video stressed me out and I wasn't even the one going through it I have no idea how you were so calm haha
I really liked this vlog. Moving is never easy, and always comes with a lot of stress, and I'm really glad that you are comfortable enough with your audience to talk about it. Because we need to talk about these things.
Girl - I totally hear you with the moving woes. My husband, myself, and my 2 dogs are moving from an apartment into our first house (!!!). We closed on the house July 30. Due to lack of availability of painters, electricians, plumbers, handyman, etc. it's taken almost TWO months and we're still not in the house. One of my dogs is a recovered separation anxiety dog so it was really important to me that her first week in the new house would be calm, fun, and I could dedicate a fair amount of time to working through her separation anxiety protocol. Today, our handyman was supposed to come and replace the front door so we booked our movers for this upcoming Tuesday. We've been paying a mortgage AND rent these two months so the double residence has been a costly moving expense. Well, apparently I hired the most incompetent handyman ever (he had good reviews online?) because he worked on the front door for 8.5 HOURS and still hasn't finished replacing the freakin' front door! Because of this, we can't paint the door this weekend, and I've had to accept that the door will not be truly finished until after we move (an event that will likely stress out my SA dog). It frustrates me because I feel like we waited 2 months for a house that isn't even move-in ready. The front door and trim will probably look really jenky for a few weeks even though I booked this handyman literally a month ago and paid a butt ton of money to purchase a pre-hung door and labor costs. When he told us tonight that he was running out of time and couldn't finish the door today (meaning the painters can't come and paint it tomorrow), I seriously wept. Not in front of him, but when he left, I wept. I'm so exhausted trying to deal with contractors who never give accurate timelines. Electricians who still haven't truly wrapped up their work that they started weeks ago. Painters that took an extra week to finish. A plumber that came 1.5 hours late to an early morning appointment... it's freakin' exhausting. I've tried so hard to be patient. To be nice to them all. To be pleasant and understanding when they say "it'll be another couple days" or that they're "running late". But today I lost it. How can it take over 8 hours to replace a front door?! This was a pre-hung door! *sigh* Either way, I hear you. I did this all to help ease my sensitive dog's transition to the new house and I had to make peace tonight with the fact that we'll still need to have workers in and out of the house, stressing out the dogs. It's so frustrating.
Oatley makes a Barista edition for coffee it has change my life!! you must shake it before putting it in your coffee!!! but seriously try it is amazing!!! AMAZING
Welcome to N.Y.C. Ingrid. I've been watching you for so long and it's exciting that your in my hometown. Can't wait to see what your up to moving forward. Good luck with your apt. and Tato will adjust nicely.
I've been so looking forward to this video! I just moved about 8 hours away to a new place this summer, so I totally relate to a lot of what you said here! I'm looking forward to the apartment tour. Glad to see that everything is working out!
Does that mean Nugget isn't coming to NYC with you? And omg tayto is the cutest!! I just rediscovered your channel after about a year of not watching. Sorry about the questions! Also the way you're handling this move is so inspiring. You're handling this huge life transition with such grace even though moving is hard in general. Let alone across the country. Change is always hard. So I applaud the way you're handling it!
Having flashbacks to a year and a half ago moving from Australia to Ireland... eep. My husband left a few months before me so I packed up and shipped an entire house myself (with amazing movers one day at each end), sent a giant dog around the world on a plane, then got to unpack everything into a much smaller house. Hot tip: usually you can get the moving company to come back and take away all the packing material.
Where is your long sleeve striped shirt from? I love the length! Also very glad you’re vlogging more! I remember back to when you started Thegridmonster.
Happy day! I am so excited for you to be back in NYC; it's my favorite city and I can't wait to see more vlogs around the city and the state. You have a car!!! Yeah, there are so many beautiful areas in the Hudson Valley, especially in the Fall. xo
Wow- happy you made it to New York (my dream city), but I’m kind of put off by the service you received with the moving company. I moved to Okinawa with my husband and utilizing a moving company for the first time had me on edge. I’m honestly not sure how it’s gonna go come Monday when they bring our stuff. Also RIP to your mirror. I too, have a large mirror and I laughed because of the way they packed it (ie: didn’t pack it). My husband and I currently have a bet to see if it’ll make it to our home alive lol The backup is to get some chalkboard paint and turn it into a giant chalkboard if the mirror bit doesn’t hold up.
Pee pads, most animals can wait a few hours to poop. Airports also have animal relief stations for while you're there. If they did poop, I'd just take it and flush it down the airline toilet to avoid the smell!
I am so really happy for this vlog. Sorry so many bad things turnt out, however, I am glad you vlogged them. Happy everything worked out everything in the end.
omg I had a very similar experience when I had my car shipped cross country. The guy threatened to take my car to a dump if I didnt come to a parking lot in the middle of the night. So crazy. Good for you for dealing with it like a boss!
your perspective on the cost benefit of shipping vs. buying new is really interesting. i think i would have bought most things new online. for me, the convenience (e.g. not having to wait, not having to unpack, not having all those boxes/paper to recycle) is worth more than the actual monetary savings of shipping. i'm glad everything worked out for you in the end! x
I just moved out of my mom's house 2 years ago this Dec & I know exactly what you're going through. It took me 4 mos. to full be moved into my apt. Hopefully it won't take you as long! Lol! Congrats on the move Ingrid!

I feel you, girl! Moving is both exciting and exhausting! I'm sure your place will look wonderful! :D
No worries. U got this. Don’t sweat the small stuff because most things are small.
Re-subscribed in hope's you'll be vlogging more! Welcome to the east coast! I've been following your journey on Instagram.
So happy to have you in my city...OUR city now!!
You have a lot of things for me to learn from, Ingrid. Good luck to you in your new place.
It's so exciting to see you start a new chapter and I hope the rest of your move goes smoothly! 😊
Lol the variations of stripes!! My wardrobe is exactly like that, well plus polka dots of course.
So happy for you! The natural lighting in your new space is beautiful!
Thank you Ingrid for sharing your moving experience with us. I absolutely enjoyed your vlog.
While traveling with pets, how do you handle the pee/poop situation? I get car rides cause you can stop along the ride but what do you do on planes?
belu varela I think animals are sedated for long flights
Pee pads, most animals can wait a few hours to poop. Airports also have animal relief stations for while you're there. If they did poop, I'd just take it and flush it down the airline toilet to avoid the smell!
true!!!
Congrats! So excited for you and your next chapter❤️
Yay! We've been looking forward to this video! So exciting! Congratulations on your move!
What an exciting move for you! Congrats!!

Awww nugget! So happy for you! ❤️
omg I had a very similar experience when I had my car shipped cross country. The guy threatened to take my car to a dump if I didnt come to a parking lot in the middle of the night. So crazy. Good for you for dealing with it like a boss!
Ive been anticipating this for SO long omfg 🤩🤩🤩
your perspective on the cost benefit of shipping vs. buying new is really interesting. i think i would have bought most things new online. for me, the convenience (e.g. not having to wait, not having to unpack, not having all those boxes/paper to recycle) is worth more than the actual monetary savings of shipping. i'm glad everything worked out for you in the end! x
LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!
Can't wait for the apartment tour
Finally a vlog😻
YOUR KITCHEN IS EVERYTHING.
something you'll come to learn is that everything is 10x more difficult in new york city vs LA. Takes time to adjust, you'll get there!
I just moved out of my mom's house 2 years ago this Dec & I know exactly what you're going through. It took me 4 mos. to full be moved into my apt. Hopefully it won't take you as long! Lol! Congrats on the move Ingrid!
Yay NYC vlogs. The Mallons leave NY Thurs for LA so glad to have you in NY. Subbed.
your girlfriend is amazing for unpacking for you #goals ❤️
