For those looking to build a modern Morrowind graphics install in 2021, I'd currently recommend using the Morrowind Sharp Guide as a base: github.com/Sigourn/morrowind-sharp
Another thing to add about Friends and Foes is that it's very vanilla friendly since NPCs will be equipped with items from the base game, Tribunal and Bloodmoon and is not bloated with custom stuff like MCA. Highly recommended for those that want to mod the game but still keep it close to the original. :)
6:56 Danae's "Friends and Foes" looks fantastic for players who've memorized much of the vanilla NPC locations and content. Morrowind is one of the best examples of modders giving a game a fresh feel even after decades in the wild, yet also not holding the series back (the newer games have only gotten more popular as well). I hope Microsoft/Bethesda release a similar top-notch modding toolkit with Elder Scrolls 6 to continue the tradition!
i hope they do it for starfield, if that game has space combat, modders can turn it into what no mans sky should have been....or even like freelancer 2.
I highly recommend Mudcrab imports. It is very very well made and its inclusion into the world feels, right, and not illogical or forced. As if it's not a town, per say, but more so a small port(obviously compat with TR). Some pretty cool weapons as well and if you use spears you get a pretty badass one.
Plenty of quality to be had here. Love the whole feel of Mudcrab Imports, Imperial Towns looks amazing and Rocky West Gash is a vast improvement on an area that just looks like unfinished textures in the vanilla release.
Beautiful showcase. Must have been hard to narrow down more than 1000 mods, many of which are really really great, to only 15. But you managed to create a nice selection. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year has in stock for us.
I’m glad morrowind still gets some love, I know it’s hard for a lot of people to get into it due to the aged graphics and animations but this game is still the best elder scrolls game to me and one of the best true rpg games
Great list! Question: Do you have any suggestion for a good sound overhaul for OpenMW? Most of the ones I can find are either outdated or seriously buggy. Thanks!
Finally upgraded to a PC. This is one of the games im looking forward to the most when it comes to modding. Playing it on xbox for years can only do so much.
Sometimes I wish mod packs were a thing; especially when it comes to urban and wilderness overhaul mods... I just want to install all of these with a button click; no tracking it all down and manually running all the files.
I have a question: I don’t know if my GPU is just surprisingly underpowered or not, but when I play in 1080p, I get 60 fps, but at a draw distance of max vanilla. If I try and extend the draw distance using mods, the frame rate drops like a rock). I have a GTX 1650 (budget laptop, 2020 Acer Nitro 5) and am perfectly capable of running other, more modern games at 1080p60, so I’m curious why I can’t do so well with Morrowind. Is my GPU underpowered or is there some bells and whistles settings enabled that overburden my GPU
Morrowind depends a bit more on the CPU than the GPU, that's probably why the FPS is dropping. And unlike modern games, Morrowind only utilizes a single CPU core, it doesn't take advantage of multi-core CPUs or multi-threading, so the speed of your CPU per core is more important than having more cores in order to get better performance. You can get around that by using OpenMW, which is a modern engine replacement for Morrowind, but that comes at the expense of mod compatibility. MWSE and MGE XE mods will not work with OpenMW, and unfortunately that includes a rather high percentage of gameplay improvement and convenience mods specifically. Graphically though, OpenMW and MGE XE + MWSE are about on par, so if that's what you're looking to improve the most while maintaining performance, that might be the best option.
@@MorrowindModdingShowcases I’m not looking for, in essence, bringing Morrowind into the modern day. I’m largely fine with the graphics as-is (if I can improve them, great, if not, don’t really care). I just want at least 1080p60 with a draw distance longer than my shoulder to my arm.
The random npcs definitely makes the game feel more alive, and I like the sound mods with, rebirth, I don't use texture packs because Im playing on windows XP, it's to laggy lmao
It's an absolutely beautiful mod, but fair warning, the FPS impact is massive. You can't really tell in this video, since post-processing fixes the FPS issues, but the actual FPS when recording was around 15-17 FPS. It has a major impact on performance, so use with caution!
I dont know why I think about it under this video, but I want a citybuilding game like Banished and Life Is Feudal Forest Village, but in Morrowind settings)
I might be wrong, but I think most of the lava featured in this video is actually OAAB_Data assets used in the Library of Vivec Overhaul mod. But in addition to that, I use Vurt's Lava and Smoke with I Lava a Good Mesh Replacer (links below): Vurt's Lava and Smoke - www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/28519 I Lava a Good Mesh Replacer - www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/49605
@@MorrowindModdingShowcases i figured thats what it was but your games lava looked really good in your lava caves revamp from your previous video as well. I was wondering if it was some special MGE settings + vurts smoke + i lava good mesh.
Could be the MGE XE Per-Pixel Lighting shaders combined with Let There Be Darkness that might be adding that little extra something. Don't think I have anything else installed that impacts lava.
N'wah Shooter might be the one mod on this list I like the look of. I don't understand most of the immersion mods for Morrowind besides things like render distance... I guess it's a compliment to the game that the only thing people want changed are the graphics though?
We're still going to do a top ten video in January/February, and depending on how many more mods get released this year, maybe a secondary top 15 video to cover mods we may have missed. There's just been so many high-quality releases already though, that I wanted to go ahead and highlight them, especially since a few of these are still a bit underrated.
I don't understand how Imperial Cities Revamped is under rated....multiple graphics overhaul guides say to use it specifically for that tileset O.o I found it while going through the category it's under too and it was very highly rated and this was shortly after it came out...but like you say Dark it's the best one for their stuffs. :3
Well, it was released in early May and still only has 60 endorsements, and it's also technically under the wrong category on the Nexus. It's a graphics replacer, it should be under Models and Textures, and if you were to compare it to other mods released during the same time period in that category, there are several mods with twice the endorsements and 2-3x the downloads. And if you look at the Stats page on Imperial Towns - Revamp, you'll see that nearly half the endorsements and downloads have come only in the last month, when this script was being written. It's more popular now, but that certainly wasn't the case about a month ago.
I don't know if anyone has said this, I don't mean this as a slight. Your voice sounds very familiar, it's like everything you say is sarcastic but not.
Very nicely done video, and mods. You're doing god's work here pal, I don't mean no Vivec (I just got a little angry with your speech vice of saying "eh" a lot)

Download links for all mods mentioned are in the video description and are available from Nexus Mods. But no, they won't work on Xbox One, Skyrim is the only Elder Scrolls game that I'm aware of that has console modding support, all other ES games are PC-only when it comes to mod support. If you want to blame someone for that, blame Bethesda or Microsoft, since ultimately the lack of mod support for Morrowind and Oblivion on consoles is really on them.
@@MorrowindModdingShowcases Thanks for your response. Many times I reached out to Bethesda on this lack of mods for other games like you mentioned Oblivion, or Morrowind, or even Fallout New Vegas. They never respond. My Xbox One has as much hard drive space as my PC 1tb so space is not an issue. I have all these games on my PC but my Xbox Runs better and nice on my 4K 43" TV and if these games crash it will not damage anything other components like Windows might. I have experienced PC game crashes, freezing forcing you to reboot cold and this is more dangerous because of your other stuff on the PC and Windows 10 update. There's only 2 games they support mods on Xbox one and that's Skyrim, and Fallout 4 get should be more.
@JeanneStar101 of course they won't respond to you, they probably get millions upon millions of emails and they're not going to add mod support for a game over ten years old, they barely put the effort in with Skyrim creation clubs. PC is best for modding because that's how is it by design. Remember these games are literally made on PCs.
9:18 what IS THAT?! In the background?! The Bar Dau lookin thing. Is that Bar Dau? Also it’s not that you need a good rig to handle big morrowind mods like that it’s about your mod setup and the way you got the game running bc pretty much any rig out there can run morrowind it’s just morrowind can’t run itself…

You should get the vanilla experience. Play Morrowind in Open MW though.... It avoids crashing, which is a serious issue in the base game.
