Man, coming back to this now is making me cry. I never had any attachment to Splatoon, never really played much of the games or anything, but this song is so damn good. I think this song is good in it's own right. In fact I think it's great, I love messy glitchy electronic music like this. However, it doesn't really make me think of Splatoon. Nothing about it really screams "Splatoon" besides the title. Each version of Squid Melody has it's own pros and cons. The blue version is catchy, it gets stuck in your head super easy, like most of TLT's other songs. Unfortunately, I feel like the blue version will share the same fate of a lot of his songs and be a kind of staple in the Splatoon community that won't go away. Countless music videos made with windows movie maker will be made off the blue version. On the other side of the coin, the red version probably will only be known for how dramatically it contrasts with it's blue counterpart, and the backlash it's getting for that reason. If someone made their own music video for the red version, it'd be nearly impossible to tell that it's a song based off Splatoon. i apologize for the whole paragraph but I felt like giving my opinion. TLT, this song is great, but it's just not Splatoon. I understand if you're in an experimental stage at this time with the whole red/blue thing, but try to make the songs resemble their source material more next time.

Man, coming back to this now is making me cry. I never had any attachment to Splatoon, never really played much of the games or anything, but this song is so damn good. I listened to so much TLT growing up, it was my bloodline during my Dubstep/EDM phase. This song flashes those memories back in to my mind, and it feels so overwhelming. I think this song is good in it's own right. In fact I think it's great, I love messy glitchy electronic music like this. However, it doesn't really make me think of Splatoon. Nothing about it really screams "Splatoon" besides the title. Each version of Squid Melody has it's own pros and cons. The blue version is catchy, it gets stuck in your head super easy, like most of TLT's other songs. Unfortunately, I feel like the blue version will share the same fate of a lot of his songs and be a kind of staple in the Splatoon community that won't go away. Countless music videos made with windows movie maker will be made off the blue version. On the other side of the coin, the red version probably will only be known for how dramatically it contrasts with it's blue counterpart, and the backlash it's getting for that reason. If someone made their own music video for the red version, it'd be nearly impossible to tell that it's a song based off Splatoon.
i apologize for the whole paragraph but I felt like giving my opinion. TLT, this song is great, but it's just not Splatoon. I understand if you're in an experimental stage at this time with the whole red/blue thing, but try to make the songs resemble their source material more next time.
