When Sam spoke about enduring the pain of not being able to see or hug his daughters that touched me straight to the heart. Because I see the hope and assurance that is in him no matter what and it encourages me to be the same when hard things happen. There is punishment for sin even after one has received forgiveness -2 Sam --12:13---18, We have to be perfect as the Father is perfect- Mt 5:48, as nothing UNCLEAN will enter Heaven -.Rev 21:27. There is some way, or process, by which the spirits of the just are made perfect -Heb 12:22-23. There is a place besides Heaven or Hell where you can suffer loss, yet be saved, but only as through fire - 1 Cor 3:13-15.Where is this place that a man, after he dies, suffers loss, as through fire, but is still saved. Hell? No, once you’re in Hell, you don’t get out. Heaven? No, you don’t suffer loss in Heaven. and where you can be forgiven of sins from a previous age - Mat 12:32 implies forgiveness in the age to come. Where can you go to be forgiven in the age to come? Former sda here, now Eastern Orthodox Christian, adventism falls apart as soon as you start asking the serious questions and never settling for crap answers. I read the gospels for the first time and learned that I was never actually taught the gospel in my time in adventism. I grew up Adventist, I heard all the language, but none of it connected to what I actually read in the gospels. There is no mystical connection with God. Adventism is utterly stuck in the physical world. Eastern Orthodox Christianity ☦️ IS reality.

Ex SDA here its technically Friday 3pm till sat 3pm ("sunset") not a lot of praising because you couldn't dance or raise your hands. I don't see anything wrong with what EGW said here? Now the event takes place foreshadowed in the last solemn service of the Day of Atonement. When the ministration in the holy of holies had been completed, and the sins of Israel had been removed from the sanctuary by virtue of the blood of the sin offering, then the scapegoat was presented alive before the Lord; and in the presence of the congregation the high priest confessed over him “all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat.” Leviticus 16:21. In like manner, when the work of atonement in the heavenly sanctuary has been completed, then in the presence of God and heavenly angels and the hosts of the redeemed the sins of God's people will be placed upon Satan; he will be declared guilty of all the evil which he has caused them to commit. And as the scapegoat was sent away into a land not inhabited, so Satan will be banished to the desolate earth, an uninhabited and dreary wilderness.
Jesus is the sin bearer not Satan. So when EGW stated that the sins were placed upon Satan, that is the falsehood. Obviously, you don't understand context and you are not paying attention. We were given multiple text in this video that demonstrated that Jesus is the one who bears our sins. Jesus christ is the goat of Lev 16:21.
I was raised in SDA schools and church. A couple things bothered me as a young person: they focused on the Old Testament and the violence in the OT used to really mess with my young brain. I never felt that they focused on Jesus, though we did pray in the name of Jesus. When I was baptized at around the age of 11, it was in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I never could grasp the EG White thing. My grandmother was firmly entrenched in the denomination and in White’s writings. It’s my understanding that the church leadership does NOT agree with the White writings but they don’t want to upset all the old timers who firmly believe in them. I’ve been very confused about the Sabbath. They preached that the Catholic Church was of the devil, something to do with the beast. I don’t know about all that and never did. I left the SDA faith as a teenager. We had our daughters dedicated to Jesus at a ceremony for babies. I sent my daughters to Adventist school through 8th grade. Then sent them to Seton Keough High School in Baltimore, which has a sordid history which Netflix did a movie on. Looking forward to listening to this. I’ve been drawn to Catholicism for many years and have done a lot of reading of ancient Church writers.

Elema G white was so appraised in my school (7th day adventist) and i always doubted these "devotionals" as considering them "profeta". Yes, i learned a lot about subliminal messages and audio cues the enemy uses to deceive but the big mistake they made was treating this as a cult. You couldn't shave, wear earrings or attire that didn't match their rules.

@@cynthia-hp2li I used to believe the narrative that EW was a prophet of God, that her messages were straight from heaven. That's how I viewed her, that's the impression I got from reading her books. One day, a pastor explained to me that not everything was black and white and that in her ministry she changed her mind about certain things. I thought it was odd because how can a prophet change her mind if supposedly her writings were from God. If the prophet said so, that's how it should go, that was my understanding at the time. Until I came across, without asking for it, a book called white lie. I read a little about the book but honestly decided not to read the book itself. I was in a busy season and that was not a priority at the time. I decided to find ways where I could strengthen my SDA beliefs and came to terms that EW was human and had flaws, but started taking her writings with a grain of salt. After that, I started to see a lot of inconsistences right before my eyes. These were inconsistences that I had always seen but this time I started to question why. People that followed exactly what she said were considered fanatics, and sometimes acted as such, but they were just trying to be diligent. Sometimes some people would take writings too serious and that would cause conflict. People that didn't regard her writings as much were seen as not christian enough, lukewarm, etc. I revisited some of my doubts recently. The investigative judgment being one of them, and EW views on the Trinity. As for EW, she copied some things from other authors. It's proven and acknowledged by the White State. In the information that I have came across so far they just say that at the time she wasn't required to quote. Fine, I will take that. My problem is not that she quoted other people, but that she quoted other authors and said that it was shown by God!!! How can I have all my theological understanding of the Bible interpreted by someone that is has not been completely truthful on that regard? There are more information I have come across in other books and some youtube channels that are helping me along. This comment is getting too long for me to explain everything. There're a lot more to it, but that's how it started. I have started a quest to understand Biblical truths for myself without having EW's "infallible" interpretation of it. I don't have all the answers. I am still seeking and praying that God will continue to guide me in His truth. 🙏

She was a Baptist with Arian beliefs, so yes, she learned many things along the way. I'm not aware of any of these things she said God showed her in that sense. Sam, I work around those called "Reformed SDA", I don't know what they teach but that they are wicked. Let's just say people wind up dead if they try to leave, forced marriages ect., would that have anything to do with Exodus 35:2 and death penalty for working on Sabbath? I'm in an African nation. The scape goat cannot represent Jesus. 1. Lots are cast to determine the scapegoat from the sacrificial goat. Lots are cast to allow for divine intervention in picking. If they both represented Jesus, the casting of lots have no significance what so ever. You cast lots to choose from two different, not the same. 2. Without the shedding of blood there is no atonement. The scapegoat did not shed blood. Lev 17:11 3. The wilderness represents where there is void of God’s blessings. That would be hell. The scape goat is sent to wilderness to die on his own(not sacrificed) never to return to the camp. This does not represent Jesus who did return from death. 4. Jesus carries our sin burden through the daily sacrifice. This sin accumulates all year long. And once a year the day of atonement cleanses the temple and sin is purged from the camp. Lev 16. This is how sin is eternally purged. By placing sin on scapegoat and sent to wilderness which is consistent with Rev 20. 5. Jesus does carry our sins through the daily sacrifice. He will not carry our sins for all eternity.(what’s the point in that). All sin will be disposed of in lake of fire Rev 20. That is not where Jesus will be, but instead the scape goat will be. 6. The priests had to make sacrifices for their own sins just prior to the atonement process to differentiate the sin sacrifice and the atonement sacrifice. The atonement process is a corporate process of purging all sins not individual sins. 7. If both goats represents Jesus, the implication is that there is a Jesus that died on the cross and there is a Jesus that didn’t. There are some religious sects that believe the avatar Jesus died on the Cross and another that lived. I don’t think that’s consistent with rest of scripture. In conclusion, calling Jesus the scapegoat is a misrepresentation of who Jesus is and his plan of salvation. The day of atonement explains why we are still here on this earth in spite of the “It is finished” statement on the cross. Only the sacrifice was finished. We are still here so that all sins will be eternally purged as expressed in the day of atonement.

The word atonement can mean “to cover, purge, make an atonement, make reconciliation”. So context would tell you that the atonement on scapegoat would mean purge since the goat would take the sin into the wilderness. It’s not sacrificed either so it’s not for reconciliation.

No SDA can show anyone a verse where Jesus keeps the sabbath in the New Covenant. EGW was possessed by satan.

Hell? No, once you’re in Hell, you don’t get out. Heaven? No, you don’t suffer loss in Heaven. and where you can be forgiven of sins from a previous age - Mat 12:32 implies forgiveness in the age to come. Where can you go to be forgiven in the age to come? Heaven? You don’t need forgiveness. Hell? There is no forgiveness.

Former sda here, now Eastern Orthodox Christian, adventism falls apart as soon as you start asking the serious questions and never settling for crap answers.
I read the gospels for the first time and learned that I was never actually taught the gospel in my time in adventism. I grew up Adventist, I heard all the language, but none of it connected to what I actually read in the gospels. There is no mystical connection with God. Adventism is utterly stuck in the physical world.

Ex SDA here its technically Friday 3pm till sat 3pm ("sunset") not a lot of praising because you couldn't dance or raise your hands. Some were very orthodox and literally would quote the bible word for word to fit their needs. So Sam is showing how this was a cult and they had an incorrect view of the trinity. Jesus is the sin bearer not Satan. So when EGW stated that the sins were placed upon Satan, that is the falsehood. Obviously, you don't understand context and you are not paying attention. We were given multiple text in this video that demonstrated that Jesus is the one who bears our sins. Jesus christ is the goat of Lev 16:21.

I was raised in SDA schools and church. A couple things bothered me as a young person: they focused on the Old Testament and the violence in the OT used to really mess with my young brain. I never felt that they focused on Jesus, though we did pray in the name of Jesus. When I was baptized at around the age of 11, it was in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I never could grasp the EG White thing. My grandmother was firmly entrenched in the denomination and in White’s writings. It’s my understanding that the church leadership does NOT agree with the White writings but they don’t want to upset all the old timers who firmly believe in them.
I’ve been very confused about the Sabbath.
They preached that the Catholic Church was of the devil, something to do with the beast.
I don’t know about all that and never did. I left the SDA faith as a teenager. We had our daughters dedicated to Jesus at a ceremony for babies. I sent my daughters to Adventist school through 8th grade. Then sent them to Seton Keough High School in Baltimore, which has a sordid history which Netflix did a movie on.

Elema G white was so appraised in my school (7th day adventist) and i always doubted these "devotionals" as considering them "profeta". Yes, i learned a lot about subliminal messages and audio cues the enemy uses to deceive but the big mistake they made was treating this as a cult. You couldn't shave, wear earrings or attire that didn't match their rules.

I am an sda questioning a lot of things. Thanks for this! Very eye opening about the scapegoat. Somehow they "make it make sense" but it really doesn't. It's not scripture based. I guess because I blindly believed EW was a prophet from God I didn't question much.
The scapegoat is a figure, which meaning is not explicitly told in the Bible. Both interpretations could be right biblically.

@@cynthia-hp2li I used to believe the narrative that EW was a prophet of God, that her messages were straight from heaven. That's how I viewed her, that's the impression I got from reading her books. One day, a pastor explained to me that not everything was black and white and that in her ministry she changed her mind about certain things. I thought it was odd because how can a prophet change her mind if supposedly her writings were from God. If the prophet said so, that's how it should go, that was my understanding at the time. Until I came across, without asking for it, a book called white lie. I read a little about the book but honestly decided not to read the book itself. I was in a busy season and that was not a priority at the time. I decided to find ways where I could strengthen my SDA beliefs and came to terms that EW was human and had flaws, but started taking her writings with a grain of salt. After that, I started to see a lot of inconsistences right before my eyes. These were inconsistences that I had always seen but this time I started to question why. People that followed exactly what she said were considered fanatics, and sometimes acted as such, but they were just trying to be diligent. Sometimes some people would take writings too serious and that would cause conflict. People that didn't regard her writings as much were seen as not christian enough, lukewarm, etc. I revisited some of my doubts recently. The investigative judgment being one of them, and EW views on the Trinity. As for EW, she copied some things from other authors. It's proven and acknowledged by the White State. In the information that I have came across so far they just say that at the time she wasn't required to quote. Fine, I will take that. My problem is not that she quoted other people, but that she quoted other authors and said that it was shown by God!!! How can I have all my theological understanding of the Bible interpreted by someone that is has not been completely truthful on that regard? There are more information I have come across in other books and some youtube channels that are helping me along. This comment is getting too long for me to explain everything. There're a lot more to it, but that's how it started. I have started a quest to understand Biblical truths for myself without having EW's "infallible" interpretation of it. I don't have all the answers. I am still seeking and praying that God will continue to guide me in His truth. 🙏

There's nothing wrong with asking questions; doubting is a good thing, except when it's pushed away, so what you are doing is good.
I'm aware that Ellen White changed her mind about many things. She was a Baptist with Arian beliefs, so yes, she learned many things along the way. I'm not aware of any of these things she said God showed her in that sense. If you could please share, that would be awesome.

The scape goat cannot represent Jesus.
1. Lots are cast to determine the scapegoat from the sacrificial goat. Lots are cast to allow for divine intervention in picking. If they both represented Jesus, the casting of lots have no significance what so ever. You cast lots to choose from two different, not the same.
2. Without the shedding of blood there is no atonement. The scapegoat did not shed blood. Lev 17:11
3. The wilderness represents where there is void of God’s blessings. That would be hell. The scape goat is sent to wilderness to die on his own(not sacrificed) never to return to the camp. This does not represent Jesus who did return from death.
4. Jesus carries our sin burden through the daily sacrifice. This sin accumulates all year long. And once a year the day of atonement cleanses the temple and sin is purged from the camp. Lev 16. This is how sin is eternally purged. By placing sin on scapegoat and sent to wilderness which is consistent with Rev 20.
5. Jesus does carry our sins through the daily sacrifice. He will not carry our sins for all eternity.(what’s the point in that). All sin will be disposed of in lake of fire Rev 20. That is not where Jesus will be, but instead the scape goat will be.
6. The priests had to make sacrifices for their own sins just prior to the atonement process to differentiate the sin sacrifice and the atonement sacrifice. The atonement process is a corporate process of purging all sins not individual sins.
7. If both goats represents Jesus, the implication is that there is a Jesus that died on the cross and there is a Jesus that didn’t. There are some religious sects that believe the avatar Jesus died on the Cross and another that lived. I don’t think that’s consistent with rest of scripture.
In conclusion, calling Jesus the scapegoat is a misrepresentation of who Jesus is and his plan of salvation. The day of atonement explains why we are still here on this earth in spite of the “It is finished” statement on the cross. Only the sacrifice was finished. We are still here so that all sins will be eternally purged as expressed in the day of atonement.
There are none so blind as those who chose not to see.

It’s not the scape goat that atones your sin, it’s the goat that is sacrificed that atones. Where in the Bible does it ever say that an animal that isn’t sacrificed atones your sin.

Please notice that of the four animals sacrificed, three of them tells you exactly what the atonement is for. The scapegoat, it says
“to make an atonement with him”. The word atonement can mean “to cover, purge, make an atonement, make reconciliation”. So context would tell you that the atonement on scapegoat would mean purge since the goat would take the sin into the wilderness. It’s not sacrificed either so it’s not for reconciliation.
