  • We review the Lectron Tesla CCS Adapter. We unbox the adapter, give our thoughts, and then go try to charge our Tesla Model Y with it at Electrify America. Please note that your Tesla must be CCS enabled found under Software, and additional vehicle information.
As far as we know, this adapter doesn't require firmware updates like their other unit.
More videos and testing to come with this adapter.

Thanks. Does this actually help your channel? I might do the same. Curious not judgmental. Serious question. I appreciate the kind comments either way 😀

The charging station looked busy! so maybe there was some shared charging at that time that caused lower charging speeds maybe?

Have you checked if CCS is enabled? Apparently, some older models that were built in 2020 or before don't support it due to it missing a chip. You can check by going software and then select additional vehicle information, there's it should tell you if CCS adapter support is enabled. If not, that might be why it could be capping at 25kw.

It’s enabled and mentioned in the video. 2022 Model Y Performance. It’s charged over 200kw with the Tesla adapter on a different stall. Even the Tesla adapter was at 25kw.

I have yet to try any of the non-tesla chargers (except the L2 charger using the J1772 adapter in the parking garage while at the Dr for a checkup). I've heard nothing but problems from anything non-Tesla L3 chargers, even on cars they are supposed to directly support (Rivian, Ford, etc).

Normally for us it’s been fine. This time it was odd for sure. Glad it wasn’t critical. Thanks for watching.

Are there any saftey ratings or standards of testing on these 3rd party adapters? Kind of terrifies me to push hundreds of amps through something like this.

That topic has come up since this video for sure. I can say from using 3 Lectron products, they seem solid. I’ll check the box later today for any safety ratings. Thanks for watching! I’d still recommend the original Tesla CCS adapter anyway.

@@TeslaTipsTrips the Tesla adapter has gone down in price recently too, $175. The lectron is now $140. Still, is not worth saving $35 because if the lectron were to melt and cause damage it would not be covered under warranty, whereas the Tesla one should.

Apparently your car was capped at something lower than your maximum. From the charging screen, under the option 'Charge current at this location' you will see a '- 12 A +'. 12 is my number, yours will be different. Hit the plus or minus to agjust the amp and your charge speed. Please let me know if it worked and the max speed of the new converter. I like your videos because I see cool stuff on them.

You don’t have that level of control with CCS which is the same as Supercharging. Thanks for watching!

It's your Amp. You can adjust the amp of the charger. amp * voltage = watts. Low amp means low kwatts

After less than 2 min I had to turn it off due to your annoying music in background. Listen on headphones for yourself.
