- This method of adding additional features to the Chevy Volt OEM infotainment systems such as reverse backup camera with dynamic guide lines, front view dash cam, apcasting, HDMI input, pass-through touch controls, etc. does not require any re-programming of the OEM head unit and easily integrates with the existing touch controls of the car to access its various features.

Hey, the HDLink box I have does not have any cables.
I want to use it for only a backup camera, which comes with cables (intended to go to the Infotainment System).
What cables do I need from the HDLink box to the Infotainment system?

Hey, can you list what you brought and where you brought them Please? Also do you know if you can add navigation to a base infotainment system. I have a 2013 Volt.
The HD Link is gear for Nav, but my infotainment system already had it. I think that what it does is accept an HDMI input from a third party external module and routes it to you screen at the touch of a button. It feels native from what I read in the volt forums. The my link nav isnt that great anyway, so it's worth a shot.
Thank you for your video. Very informative. I just got mine today. I was wondering where did you connect the power (Batt input), the ground input, and navi output wires to? Your video and diagram does not explain where these should be connected to?
I'll re-watch my video and try to remember where I tapped into. Off the top of my head, I remember following the manual for the HD-Link to the letter. The large grey insulted wire you see is just for the reverse camera signal and it has two spare conductors for future add-ons in case I ever add any additional equipment that needs routing from front to rear of the vehicle.

Again, i'll re-watch it soon to try and remember if I diverged from the instructions at all.
I reviewed the video again and it looks like you have a picture of the connected wires I was talking about in minute 26:00. It looks like you attached the power batt input (yellow wire) to the striped green wire...is this correct? And of course the ground wire to the black wire.
If you have the same radio and head unit it will be safe to use the same connector and wires I did for the power to the HD-Link. I chose the Power and GND to the head unit so it would only be powered on when the radio was.
This works well and the HD-Link powers up FAST so there is little to no delay when power on the car before the HD-Link doing its thing.
My next project involving this HD-Link is feeding a night vision IR camera into one of the HDMI inputs in it for night time driving. You can see Deer in the road way far off even during inclement weather.
Where did you connected the yellow, red and back wires to I know they are 12v power , but I don’t know which wire to tap them to please advise.

Henry Do I figured out with wires were for powering the radio and tapped into those. Use a multi meter and see which wires are ground and power.

Ali Hdr The mirroring works. It even has a physical button you can install if you choose to switch to an HDMI input at the drop of a hat.
Daniel Tooker Thanks, I opened mylink system on my 2014 Caprice but there isn't any 18 pin connector, there is 20 pin connector with 5 cable on 2, 3, 5,16,19, and the other big black connector like yours, I don't know where should I connect audio Can high and Low, coz there isn't any 18 pin connector and there is no yellow and green, do you have any Idea?
Ali Hdr is the Caprice in the install guide with wiring instructions?
Daniel Tooker Unfortunately no, but except GVIF there are two 10 pin connections on the back of monitor interface, grey and a black, and just the grey one has yellow cable and both of them have purple, one in the grey connector beside of yellow and one in the black connector , I saw all of diagrams for every car on the Instruction and in all them Audio Key CAN low connects to a yellow wire, So I assume the only yellow wire I've got should connect to CAN low, but I'm not sure about purple wire to connect Audio Key CAN High, but maybe it should be the purple one that is next to yellow.
I have a non-MyLink volt (2012) and I'm about to see if this will work on it. I have high hopes but we'll see.

Yes it did, actually, works like a charm! I even installed the android box that's compatible with the HD-link and it all works fine. @@stamanf

Hey, could you please help me. Mine came with everything installed I just can't do the mirroring stuff from phone to screen. There are 2 cables in my car on is male another female usb cable. And everything seems to be installed as u did
Hmm. I think phone mirroring is more advanced than what I covered in my video. There is a more in-depth tutorial in the GM-volt forum. Link was in the description for this video.
If I remember correctly, a USB to video out design for android phones, and a special 4-wire touch adapter with some phone side hacking along with an arduino to make it all plug & play was needed. For iPhone, good luck as I haven't seen anyone pull that off yet. That being said, if you don't need to control the phone, and only want to mirror it on your screen, that's much simpler. Use a miracast dongle or any HDMI dongle design to be "screen cast" to and plug that into a spare HDMI port on the HD-Link and you're done.
I followed your video and got my wires run from front to back. Unfortunately I have a camera that requires a nut to secure it so I will need to remove the bumper cover I think. Haven't installed the HD Link yet either

Does this work on the 2012 Volt? The manual for the HD-LINK says 2013+. I think it will work for me because I believe I have MyLink cause I got bluetooth audio streaming
nawewan If you have th3 MyLink radio (non-hard drive, with Bluetooth streaming, and a "home" "info "config" button on your touch bezel You have the my link and it will work.

I have a 2012 non mylink volt with a HDD and Navigation. Would this work with my volt? It looks like the connectors are the same
