I’ve genuinely struggled to find a choir who takes better command of dynamics than this one. I also don’t think many choirs can translate the true meaning of songs into their performances the way this choir does. Like, to be excellent is one thing but to be excellent consistently is another. My favourite choir by far.
It is truly rare for a choir to possess this level of technical excellence and precision while singing with this kind of freedom and expression. The sheer joy! I'm overcome.
I'm literally in tears, watching and listening to this choir. Truly are story tellers, each singer. The gifted conductor. The nuance of each phrase and note. Maybe the best in this world. Thank you.
The Aeolians have the reputation for being one of the best choirs in the world. In 2019 they do not disappoint; this presentation is incredible. Sixty plus years ago, my music teacher, an Aeolian, Addie Mae Hudson, took a quintet of young accordion players to perform at Oakwood. I never have forgotten that trip. Instinctively I knew that I was at an institution of musical excellence. My Church choir now performs some of the Aoelians' work. Thank God for the Internet, because now I can continue to marvel in their work. I just wish I had gone to school there. . .
Being at this conference and trying to keep up with the rigorous scheduling of panels, workshops, and performances left me (and probably many others) exhausted and struggling to stay alert during certain performances.... Not with The Aeolians! Such command and vitality that lent itself to the electric energy in the room! Prime example of BLACK EXCELLENCE!!! Had me tearing up at the end.... The standing ovation was so crazy that we all needed another bow from the director even after everyone exited the stage!
I had a spectacular choral experience at Brown University, and we went to the ACDA in 1984. Yes, I was a callow youth, but 36 years later, as I watched this performance, I finally began to understand what kind of excellence is possible. We were aiming for it, but this group - wow!
I was just directed by Dr Ferdinand at allstate, so i decided to check out the aeolians and see what all the fuss was about. this is nothing short of magnificent, thank you for blessing me with the experience of being directed by you
This is the best sequence of songs I’ve every heard by a collegiate choir. Totally mesmerizing to have been there. Congratulations to you, Jason and to the Aeolians on this Masterful performance.
The entire thing is gorgeous, this is obvious, but that it culminates in a closing piece this powerful is almost too much to bear. Instant tears, a million stars outta ten, etc.
Such a talented group. I especially loved the Bach. Such a pleasure to listen to. I've never heard this piece sung better than this, and I love to watch musicians enjoy what they are doing. And what a powerful ending.. I didn't want it to end. What a treat!
Beautiful! This MUST be how the choirs of angels sound in heaven. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I feel SO blessed to have heard you albeit only on youtube. What a treat!!! Glory to God!!!
Brilliant performance---as usual by the Aeolians. Jason, you've done a superb job. Most legendary choirs tend to stray from their shine and get lost in search of the next sound---but somehow, you've made the Aeolians sound more "Aeolian" than we thought possible. Congratulations on not only maintaining such a high standard, but making taking this storied group of young voices to even higher heights. Absolutely amazing. Absolut genial! Übrigens, die Aussprache---Muah!!!
Absolutely phenomenal performance, as always. I am continually "HBCU proud" of the excellence in choral achievement from this stellar ensemble. Praying continued success for you and the entire Aeolian lineage...from the Texas Southern University Choral program!
made me cry for the tyranny we all face right now, today, as draconian overlords squash any and all dissent. rise up for truth, freedom and love, all people, all eartyhlings. all truth loving souls!! this singing and music has opened my heart more, thank you. such practice as we can never know! wow xo
Always thought it's so unique, how they don't stand in compartments (sopranos on one side, altos, tenors, etc). Now they mixed with the orchestra too....
Thanks to Erick Lichte of Chor Leoni for bringing this choir to my attention with his "Further Inside" videos during the Covid restriction on choral performances. They are superb.
I am looking forward to going to one of there live performances. I will fly from NY to wherever. I have been following them on You Tube and l am always blessed
Omg you must!!! I have been to soooo many of their concerts .They truly worship!!!I'dont mean to sound like a vain ediot but when I attend their concerts I go in on my deportment really deep. The finest of the finest.I just feel elevated in their presence while they magnify the Father. It's like I have gotten an invite to Buckingham palace or some other European palace .While been humble before the'Lord they are able to command an atmosphere of high elegance, class, upper echelon, sophistication and just the finest.Maybe it's just my thoughts but I love e very bit of whatever it is.I love love love them❤💙👍🏽🙏
Such exquisite musicianship and singing. Takes me back to my college days and singing in chorale. Aeolians are always amazing. Listening to them always reminds one that despite the strife and chaos of life here on earth, there is such beauty in the arts. As long as there are groups like the Aeolians, there is still hope for mankind and the planet. :)
I love this choir; however, unless I missed it, there didn't seem to be any singular acknowledgement of the orchestral ensemble at the end, which doesn't concert etiquette usually requires?
I’ve never heard anything more excellent than this. The angelic choir truly has their work cut out for them.

How about Stellenbosch University Choir?
@@jerobiamjulies6381 well, of course. Number 1 choir in the world - don’t think anyone can argue with that.
I believe that this is the best Choir in the world!?!? May they always remember to bring glory to God with their beautiful voices. Amen.
Proud to be a Seventh Day Adventist Christian, well done, I can never get enough of them.
13:17 the transition between Baroque songs and Contemporary Songs really smooth, but still can show the changing of the theme. BRAVO!
I’m a graduate of Oakwood University and I can tell you that this choir gives you a glimpse and feel of heaven every Sabbath.
I'm literally in tears, watching and listening to this choir. Truly are story tellers, each singer. The gifted conductor. The nuance of each phrase and note. Maybe the best in this world. Thank you.
They brought the house down!

I'm watching for my intro to conducting class at Oregon State University. Awesome voices and amazing direction. I love to sing.

Best in the world. Undisputed. Hands down. Glad to be a seven day Adventist 🙏❤

Anybody else didn't want it to end? It was so amazing, as always!
Absolutely wonderful! And having Dr. Cedric Dent, a Grammy-winning former member of Take 6 perform with them?! The icing on the delicious cake!
I'm in tears in thankfulness to God for this beautiful moment through his vessels of Dr. Ferdinand and the Aeolians.
Bravo to choir and conductor, such inspired music making!
I love listening to the Aeolians. Amazing as always. Praise the Lord!
Those young voices are something else.... and their conductor has them right on point!! AS we say in church at times "y'all better shut up"

The choral tone of this ensemble sounds absolutely beautiful and lush! A great example for educators of how to execute a piece of music!
What a riveting performance! Congrats Jason! (Dr. J) Kudos to The Aeolians and to Oakwood University.

Absolutely marvelous performance
Excellence!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
At 17:42, Dawson’s My Lord, What a Morning is captioned. It’s MORNING, not MOURNING. Clip editor, can you fix this?
William Dawson composed the song “My Lord what a Mourning”; mourning is correctly captured.
Yay! Been waiting on this
Still can't believe it, over a year later. I mean.
Wow
❤❤❤

Wow... thirteen haters! What’s there to hate? You mean you weren’t blessed, well, eat your heart out!!
What is the name and composer for the closing piece?
I think the composer is Ken Burton
Aeolians
I’ve been wanting to see instrumentalists and singers mixed up like this for years
Me too... Good things clearly come to those who wait!
Smh...it makes no sense on how amazing they are....I’m just in awww
