- Electric types are fast & powerful but quite frail, which poses a huge danger for nuzlockes... but we do have access to a cool variety of them in Pokemon SoulSilver. Can we make the best of what we've got and use them to beat Pokemon SoulSilver's hardest challenge?!

We've done some hard Pokemon challenges in the past, but usually they were a solo Pokemon challenge run. What if we still did a really difficult challenge... but with a full team using hardcore nuzlocke rules, and with only one type? Today we find out: can I beat a Pokemon SoulSilver Hardcore Nuzlocke with only Electric types? No items and no overleveling!

Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.
(8) No connecting with other games for the purposes of importing Pokémon, Items, etc.

Crazy idea for a nuzlocke or even a normal run. I call it the "Falconry" run. In short you can only use Bird, Dog, and Horse Pokemon (Preferably bird of prey Pokemon are preferred). You can keep up to three in your party and 1 of which must be a Bird. You only lose the nuzlocke if you lose all your bird Pokemon so if you have at least 1 bird in a box you can continue.
I created this run because of my love of Falconry and Birds of prey.

Agreed. They are part of the game. Maybe a rule could be made that would allow national dex pokemon to be added, trading a new route encounter for a pokemon of that type if there are very few party members

@@nolanevans7603 I feel like everybody always forgets about them. I never see any nuzlockes or other challenge that do them. Which is a shame particularly for the kanto leaders in HG and SS because their rematches are actually good fights

Playing devil's advocate here, but one of the major problems with the Elite Four rematch is that there's a huge level gap from Karen's ace (level 64) to Lance's ace (level 75). But yeah, it'd be nice to have something bridge the gap between Gym Leader Blue and Red.
Mareep does feel like a starter Pokémon though especially with it’s evolution line and stats.

Ampharos is one of my favorite pokemon ever it definitely could have been a starter if electric was an option. I honestly think they should do 5 options one of these days and have fire grass water rock and electric as starter options that could be cool
Having used the Pokewalker so much as a kid, it always makes me incredibly happy to see you use it to get interesting encounters!
With mine I got a few surfing Pikachu's and flying Pikachu's
i remember when i put my shiny garados on it and than i lost my pokewalker. SADGE
Bold is +Def -Atk, probably one of the best natures for a Magnemite.

It's ok. I wouldn't say it's amazing, but it's serviceable. I'd say Modest is the best nature with Bold at second place.
+sp atk or +spdef are way better than +def on it ingame
It's in the top 3 for sure. The best is still Modest, but Bold is definitely usable.
Anything -Atk is usable for Magneton in Gens4+.
As soon as you went "My calcs told me we should survive..." during the battle against Clair's Kingdra, I went "but then it gets a crit, right?" and lo and behold...
So me and my girlfriend were goofing around, she pushed me over, i survived on a slither, just 1 hp, and i delivered a critical STAB super effective beer boosted Rock Bottom for the win... amazing!

Lanturn being water/electric would be the run saver, but you never know when it comes to nuzlocks.
15:30 actually bold is + def -attack, pretty good for a bulky special attacker

I love the selection of Pokémon you got to use in this playthrough. Lanturn is one of my favorites because it's super bulky with that massive HP stat.

It would be cool if ever did a Dragon Egg Group Nuzlocke since lets you use Dragon types and Dragon/Serpent like Pokémon

Old rod gen 3 nuzlocke would be very hard, but very cool too.
I'm all for the inclusion of Action Replay codes in these runs for easy Game corner coins and items unobtainable in these games.

This is the best generation. Please do more nuzlockes of this gen, but PLEASE do elite 4 round 2 before Red. Almost no one ever does them the second time for nuzlockes and they are wayyy harder the second time around.
I'm pretty sure the statue in the Dragon Den is a Gyrados because it's always been that "not a dragon dragon" due to it's mythological origin and with how often it's used by dragon type specialists

As someone who played competitive during Gen 4... I knew Electivire was going to miss that Lapras KO. I... I just knew.
So does that mean False Swipe Gaming was wrong about them? In gen 4, Electivire was in OU while Lapras was in NU.
@@ShadowtheRUclipsr523 I don't remember what FSG said about it, but as I recall, it was OU because people kept using it, not because it was good. It looks good on paper but, as we saw against Lapras, it had a terrible habit of missing every important KO you wanted it to take.
This was before team preview, so every new kid on the block was certain they'd get the Gyarados-bait into a Motor Drive then super effective sweep, but the maths never added up and its low defence and mid HP meant it was pretty easy to tank a hit and smack it down. Would have been better in lower tiers but since so many kept trying it, it remained OU.
Yes it was 12 years ago,and i am 31 years old now but dude i decided to start a new game again and played it again the other day,brings back memories for sure during my teen days.

One of the best typings for a nuzzlocke in soulsilver are poison types, you get a lot of encounters even early on and you have a wide variety of pokemon to use. Love your vids my guy!
I'd love to see a nuzlocke restricted by something other than type. Body shape is apparently defined for every pokemon- I'd love to see a no limbs run. Or a round Pokemon only run.

You should do a hardcore nuzelock where your maximum level is that of the leader/elite4's worst pokemon instead of their best, but open up to more encounters

Lanturn is so underrated, when I played through Crystal my under leveled Lanturn took down all 3 of Lance's Dragonites by itself using Confuse Ray, Spark, Surf and Flail

It had thunder but that missed half if the time, and shock wave is mid.
Bold is +defense, -attack friend, very good for a magnemite. Blue means lowered. Common nature in competitive. Would love to see you do a smogon tour
Electivire dying in the last battle because he just didn't have a strong enough attack is very on point for the poor guy.
Seriously, why is literally every good physical Electric move exclusive? Fusion Bolt, Volt Tackle, Plasma Fists, Bolt Strike, Bolt Beak, Aura Wheel, Double Shock, and even Zing Zap are all exclusive.
