"That's the kind of thing that gets you from an amateur mix up to a professional mix" Or the difference between an amateur singer and a professional singer. There were times when those pitch /time correction editing tools didn't not exist and you had to learn how to sing to make a record or go back to whatever you can do properly. That's exactly the same with guitars, drums, etc... If the mixing engineer has to correct every single interpreter of the project, he's not really doing his mixing job but an editing one and should be paid extra for that (or at least give the choice : "i can let it as it is with all your imperfections or make it more "pro" but it wil cost extra"). This said, it is an amazing tool and another amazing video. Thank you

the amount of changes he did… at this point he might have just sampled her voice and let AI create a song with it. her “artistry” became irrelevant. if you can’t hit a single note while singing, think about not singing at all. perhaps she is a composer, and that’s great. someone else can sing her songs. but this is ridiculous. still, as you said, amazing video.

Great tip on using the different mic emulation on Bkg Vox . I have the Slate too-Can’t believe I haven’t tried it duh! In terms of work flow I have edited timing on the lead then lined up the doubles underneath in the tracking window and completed Flex Time edits on each double lined up below at the same time if that makes sense. I have largely ignored the pitch edit in the doubles which is something I will be doing in future…. There’s a couple more hours eh!

Love these tutorials! Vocals are my achilles heel when it comes to home recording. My instrumental tracks sound halfway decent, then I ruin the song by adding my amateurish vocals on top. I know a lot of the problem is in the performance and no amount of tweaking can fix a bad vocal, but I have to believe I can make something that sounds professional despite my shortcomings as a vocalist.

Great video. Is there Flex Pitch inside iPad’s Logic?

This sounds remarkably free of the artifacts that I always hear when I use Flex Pitch. …I wonder what I’m doing wrong…

For the doubles why don’t you just use the same sample or take as the main and pan left and right and maybe add a little more reverb? Is there an actual reason not to?

    • @stevehillock3162

Cause if it is the same take, it will just sound mono but louder (why don't you try it yourself). The doubles don't have the exact same pitch or time placement. It's those micro differences That make them distinct from the main, which would be impossible by just copy paste the main (even delaying the take a little will just give a sense of space but not a sense of plurality) and the fact that they are not singing all the same notes creates harmony, which you don't get in duplicating the main (well, you could if you pitch the copy but it won't sound as natural)
