He made most of his plays with a torn pec as well. He also had a few advantages as well because the last team he played for before retiring was with the Rams, so he was familiar with many of the people on the defense. He also mentioned that he talked to his wife about it, and she told him that "if anyone could do it, you can do it". He played well against the 49ers as well, leading them in tackles.
When they brought Weddle out of retirement, I wasn't that surprised to be honest. He's more than just a player, he is a full-on baller who kept in shape for a moment like this.
@@Ramsoholic I love his interview with rich eisen. Highly recommend it. His final quote was great. Can't remember it word by word but it was something like "hopefully this inspires others who aren't sure they could do it to take a chance cause I wasn't even sure I could and look at me now I'm a superbowl champion"
Eric Weddle is the reason the Rams were in the SuperBowl. If it weren't for him, the Rams wouldn't have shut down the 49ers running game, and wouldn't have won the game in the playoffs.
His payday was only half the playoff and SB shares. So Weddle was playing for very little by NFL standards but a good year’s salary by regular working people’s salary. He kept himself in shape well enough to get back out there at safety, so that’s saying a lot for retired guy. Ultimately, he loves the game, and wanted the chance to win an SB ring. Fantastic Morris made the call ! Tremendous it worked out so well ! Rams SB champs!
He stayed in shape and he was in football shape. Working out with kids and more. He was in ready mood. He stayed ready so he didn't have to get ready lol. He played well.
Fun fact, my family is close friends to their family. His daughter and my brother were close friends. It’s been a while but I’m pretty sure we went to Disneyland together! 😂
An all time amazing sports story. Weddle played that high level after not practicing or playing for 2 years. And doing it on several days notice before the first playoff game. Great football mind, great player, great teammate. Definitely made a huge impact. Well deserved, Eric! Come back and coach. Go Rams!!!
How amazing is it, on the couch in January, playing rec league basketball, comes out in a weeks notice out of retirement, after two seasons without playing, gets quickly acclimated in a new system under a new coordinator (his last DC was Wade) leads the team in tackles in the NFCC, suffers a torn pec in the first quarter of the SB and still led the team in tackles with one arm and he ended up leading leading the team in tackles during the whole playoff run. Just amazing.
Great analysis. He played every snap during the NFC Championship and Super Bowl. Unreal! He did say he was glad he didn’t have to play a lot of snaps in his first game back, “might’ve torn his ACL and hamstring”
He made a lot of plays in run support around the line of scrimmage. I watched him at Chargers and Ravens, he was more of a strong safety than free safety. Always a good tackler. Great move by Snead and McVay. That's why everybody tries to raid the front office and the coaching staff.
Them IE boys are built different. He goes hard in the paint. He was a stud on the Chargers, and good on the Ravens. He deserves that ring. God's plan bro.
Weddle played well against the Bucs, 49ers & Bengals.. His tackling and hitting is something the Rams weren't doing well. A couple of his hits in Tampa could be heard in Orlando. Raheem Morris deserves plenty of credit as well.
Thanks for this analysis of Eric Weddle's contributions. His story is really crazy amazing. The Rams should keep him on as Mr. Congeniality for the team.

He also talked about how he wanted to do it because he didn’t wanna live life regretting like if he could’ve or stuff

The ultimate warrior of a football. He got his dream. A championship
I just find it amazing that someone can come back mentally prepared to play football at this high of a level.
He’s not someone. He’s an ex All Pro that stays in shape

13 year vets can do that.
Weddle didn't just play, he was calling the defensive calls and adjustments on the field.
Bro might have the highest football iq ever it’s insane what he sees
After the stop on Tyler Boyd; Weddle could barely get up due his torn pec....what a great play
I think people failed too realize he was a 6 time Pro Bowler…….
Let's not forget his tackle saved the first down which ultimately was the final Bengal possession.
Glad you gave Weddle the props he deserves
Didn't mention his injury tho
Weddle showed his toughness by playing most of the game with a torn pec.! Wow.

Reminder that Weddle played 3.5qtrs with a torn pec tendon. Unbelievable!!!

Eric Weddle is one of my all time favorites since college my hometown UTES. So proud of him.

Weddle tore his pec early in the Superbowl and said strap me up, even more impressive
Not a single charger fan wasn't rooting for him in the superbowl....dude was a class act and excellent player for us.
Guess he still remembers the Bengals offense from his Ravens days.
Charles Woodson for GB's championship run
Great analysis. He played every snap during the NFC Championship and Super Bowl. Unreal! He did say he was glad he didn’t have to play a lot of snaps in his first game back, “might’ve torn his ACL and hamstring”
Shades of Kurt Warner. Great stories both!
I can see why the Rams signed him up. The man plays hard. He was making great stops.
All American at utah. My Favorite all time. All pro. Comes out of retirement. Wins a super bowl. Epic. Legend and hero in my book.
I hope he got paid well because he earned it.
Looove Eric Weddle my idol 4ever😍He sure is a very smart player. Thank u for highlighting the great stuff he did!
He plays full-court basketball. Perfect sport to stay in shape.
He made a lot of plays in run support around the line of scrimmage. I watched him at Chargers and Ravens, he was more of a strong safety than free safety. Always a good tackler. Great move by Snead and McVay. That's why everybody tries to raid the front office and the coaching staff.
Beastmode got signed in similar scenario, when Caroll ran out of RBs at the end of regular season
Extra points for having a Calvin and Hobbes picture on your wall. :^D
so tough
Them IE boys are built different. He goes hard in the paint. He was a stud on the Chargers, and good on the Ravens. He deserves that ring. God's plan bro.
Marshawn Lynch with Seattle. He played well
Don’t want to hate, but how did you not bring up the fact that he tore his pectoral muscle in the 1st quarter? Gotta step up the research.
Weddle played well against the Bucs, 49ers & Bengals.. His tackling and hitting is something the Rams weren't doing well. A couple of his hits in Tampa could be heard in Orlando. Raheem Morris deserves plenty of credit as well.
Weddle ran over top of Burrow at the end 😂
Without Weddle the Rams don't win the superbowl. Amazing cap to his career.
Bronco Nagurski was kind of similar from the old days
Thanks for this analysis of Eric Weddle's contributions. His story is really crazy amazing. The Rams should keep him on as Mr. Congeniality for the team.
"Looked like he could still play potentially"
I mean, it looked like he could...because he did. There was no potential, just good results.
We got to get Jones in here number 50
Marshawn Lynch came back out of retirement for the Seahawks, and played rather well (although he didn't have an offensive line to help him).
Not the same, Jackson - but look up the story behind the pats long snapper for super bowl 38. Crazy stuff.
I love your crisp analysis with focus points. Is Waddle worth bringing back?
It’s not that hard to play defense when you have Donald n Ramsey on your team
Casual
Jax! The season is over. Let it go! Looking forward to your analysis for next season.✌🏾
He sucked as a Charger
All pro
Ok Mexican
