Galaxy is my favorite game of all time, but as far as staff roll goes... 64 and World just hit different, man. There's something to them other ones don't have.
Agreed. I feel like some of the other (older) ones have one key melodic idea and then the rest of the song either sticks too closely to that or it just plays consonant notes without much direction which produces something that sounds like an amateur jazz solo. Specifically the first three Mario Bros games. Mario 64 and Mario World fell like they were written very carefully. The melody goes somewhere that expands the ideas instead of just repeating them or abandoning them. They also sound more full and final. That part is not the NES games’ fault, but it is certainly a factor. I think Mario Land 2’s ending also fits this bill.
Nintendo have absolutely nailed the tone on these. Most of them capture the bittersweet feeling of saying goodbye to an old friend that you know you'll see again, but not for a little while.
@Graysengrayman The Lost-Levels are amazing! I was trying to beat it for 6 years. Super Mario Bros. had only 8 world; The Lost Level had 13! It is very hard, but is very cool! (Sorry my english, I don't speak it [or write it] very well :(
It's always the credits song that get me, I was born after most games in this video, but how much I've grown attached to all of these games, the end of the game can be emotional
I’d say my Top 3 would go like this: #1 - New Super Mario Bros. Wii #2 - Super Mario 64 #3 - Super Mario 3D World NSMBWii is only above 64 because it holds memories of my *young* childhood. Talking 6 years old here.
For me, #1 would be Mario 64. I don't have nostalgia for it, but I fully respect those who do, and I can still see the diamond in the rough of that classic game. Plus, someone very talented added lyrics to it to pay tribute to Charles Martinet, who voiced Mario since 64, after he stepped down.
My favourite one out of all of these is, without a doubt, Super Mario 64. I was born after the game came out, and it still manages to hit me in the feels. I can guarantee that anyone who plays the game will have a blast.
that peice of Music Brings me to tears as I heard it playing in my head the 1st time I heard that Luigi was found in Super Mario 64 & I was like "we finally have him. L is Real." & Here's the Kicker. we found him 24 years & a Month since Mario 64's Japanese Release (I think so, atleast) so the theory of the Courtyard Statue saying "L Is real 2401" was True, wasn't it?
NSMB DS will always reign supreme for me. That was the first game I owned and it was the first game I beat. I used the play the hell out of the vs mode with my cousin during spring break, so this game will always be filled with nostalgia
I love the ending to Super Mario Bros. 3! Reminds me of the cartoon a lot! *Gulp* “Excuse me. I need to find that map sales person and buy a map to some place else!”-Luigi Mind Your Mummy Mommy Mario
“Everyone’s learned it’s not a person’s color that counts, it’s the kind of person they are inside.” “Think they‘ll ever learn that lesson in the real world?” “Haha, yeah, when humans get as smart as mushrooms.” I don’t even know the episode name but yeah it’s that one💀
Dear Charles: From a lifelong fan When I was a kid I played mario Party 1 and 3D World allll the time! now at 19 I'm playing it and it feels right! But two days ago... he's gone... My Childhood is officially Over..... :( And now I made this drawing as a tribute to you.... You made my Childhood amazing... I'll always remember the days when I played Dobble dash... Your a true legend I'll never forget you And Mario. I heard the news from my boyfriend and Cryed! I pray you'll have all the luck you'll need. :) I'll miss you... Until then... You are the superstar. I'm very happy that my 8 years old son has played Mario I, II, Lost Levels, Super Mario Bross and Mario 64, he loves playing them and he is much more skilled than me. That makes me remember when I was a child.
Dear mr.martinet you've shaped my childhood, told me its good to be myself, and that's its okay to be scared sometimes, you're a superstar, waahhooooo!

in terms of the music and ending themes, I'll have to give it all to both Mario Galaxy games, Super Paper Mario is a close second. but the Mario Galaxy Orchestra is on another level when it comes to making good soundtracks. To me, orchestra being better than all kinds of 8 bit music, is almost the same as the reason why european chocolate destroys all american chocolates, with Ghirardeli being the only american chocolate brand that really competes with the Swiss and Belgium Chocolates.
I'll probably sound pretty young to you guys but like 5 years ago when I was 5 or 6 I played my aunt's DS and the first game I ever played was NSMB, I've loved Mario games since then! The first game I got on my OWN console, (the switch) was SM3dW!
I'm also on your side but my first Mario game i got on my Switch was not a mainline Mario game, no it was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Even though i have NSMB on a 3DS that i have)
Super Mario Galaxy is the best I will stand with you on that. Fight me also because that game. Is such an amazing experience and it deserves to be on top compared to all the others. It has such a deep story in it and the gameplay is amazing, and the music. Don’t get me started on it. Gusty Garden Galaxy, The comet observatory, The staff roll?!!! It’s all amazing. I love it.
I’m only here because I watched the funny vinyl cat from TikTok with a Super Mario ending credits music playing while the cat spins on the record player. I couldn’t remember which Mario ending it was, so I came here to listen to them all to see if any of them sounded familiar to me. Turns out it’s the Super Mario World ending credits. Anyone else here because of that vinyl cat meme?
Thank you Charles Martinet. You really brought this character to life in a way no one ever did before… here’s hoping you have fun as Mario’s Ambassador!

The mario galaxy one is absolutly breath-taking

I didn't even grow up Mario world but it's somehow nostalgic
I think its the bittersweet punch that gives 64 and World the nostalgic atmosphere.
Nintendo have absolutely nailed the tone on these. Most of them capture the bittersweet feeling of saying goodbye to an old friend that you know you'll see again, but not for a little while.
13:09 Thank you Charles martinet for everything over the years
a.k.a. The saddest part of a Mario game. When it ends...
Yes
*Happiest
But in a happy way
Except for the lost levels, that game can go screw itself
@Graysengrayman The Lost-Levels are amazing! I was trying to beat it for 6 years. Super Mario Bros. had only 8 world; The Lost Level had 13! It is very hard, but is very cool! (Sorry my english, I don't speak it [or write it] very well :(

Same here
I agree on this.
But 3D World would prob be my personal #1 bc it not only sounds good but I have fond memories growing up on the Wii U
The credits of super Mario 64 remains me yo the Childhood.

My Dad Was Born 1964 That Game Came Out
There's something about the Gameboy ones that just tickle the nostalgia filled part of my brain in such a joyous way.
NSMB DS will always reign supreme for me. That was the first game I owned and it was the first game I beat. I used the play the hell out of the vs mode with my cousin during spring break, so this game will always be filled with nostalgia

I can't deny that the SMG2 credits song is the best one ever in the SMG series
i know its not on here but the credits for Super Paper Mario probably made me cry the most
My favorite ending❤️
What I love about these comments is how diverse everybody’s choice-favorites are. Almost all of these song are objectively phenomenal in my opinion

3:41 the most epic part of a mario ending theme ever
Super mario bros 3, super mario 64, new super mario bros wii and super mario galaxy 1 and 2 are the most nostalgic to me
Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are the best ones on here. Fight me.
These songs are all just so sad and nostalgic
Mario Galaxy is so so special, especially the first one
The Mario 3 ending theme is one of the most painfully nostalgic pieces of music in all of gaming for me.
Super Mario 64 has the best ending theme!
Eh, Too Bad I Don’t Hear Mario Saying “Thank You So Much For Playing My Game.” Or Something Like That.
