I started watching Bama basketball in 1987. Wimp Sanderson was the HC. And you had Mark Gottfried, Jim Farmer, Keith Askins, Michael Ansley, Derrick McKey, and so on. Then as the years go by, Bama had players like Melvin Cheatham, Robert Horry, Latrell Sprewell, James "Hollywood " Robinson, Elliot Washington, Eric Washington, Erwin Dudley, Jason Caffey, Roy Rogers, Antonio McDyess, Antoine Pettway, Kennedy Winston, Chuck Davis, Jamareo Davidson, Ernest Shelton, Gerald Wallace, Ronald Steele, and his brother. Seen many NCAA tournament appearances, NIT app, and many losing seasons. 2004 was an amazing moment for Alabama basketball. But since Nate Oats has been head coach of the Crimson Tide. I new from the day he was hired that Oats would take this team to lands the program has never been apart of. Now, just like the football program. Alabama basketball will be a blue blood moving forward. I think Oats brings the Tide a national title before its all said and done. #RollTide

I agree with everything you said. I love coach Oats and hope he stays at Bama for many many years. I haven't been to watch games since the early 2000s when I was in college, but Oats has my fiancé and I driving to go to a few games each season the past 3 years. He's made Bama bball relevant again and they can win almost any game they play. Also, do you remember Rod Grizzard, Richard Hendrix, and Collin Sexton of course lol? I'm sure there's many more. Roll Tide man!

@@sectruth1457 Lol! Thanks. When I was typing all those names out, I was trying my best to think of the others. It literally was driving me nuts. Then I simply stopped thinking about it cause I said to myself - "If I know how my Alabama co fanatics love this program. I will recieve a message before morning with names of the ones I missed." And by golly you didn't let me down lol. ROLL TIDE right back at ya!

@@MetallicAAlabamA lol and I know I missed some names too! I'm so excited right now. I'm thankful we still have slightly over 5 days to enjoy this and know/ feel that we all have a chance. I really can't see us beating uconn, but you never know. After we beat unc the other night, I had the same feeling as when our football team won the first SEC championship and then the first national title under Saban. I forgot what it was like to just be in total shock and excited to where I'm calling many friends/ family from a win. It's an amazing feeling. I never took for granted what Saban did...as I remember how Bama fball was horrible for many of my college years from 99-05,... but your first few big wins always feel different and are more special because it's new. I LOVED all the wins and big games under Saban, but the first few were more special to me.

@@sectruth1457 I feel you on everything you mentioned. I was 13 when Alabama beat Miami for their first NC since Paul Bear Bryant walked the sideline. I started watching Bama football around the same time I started watching basketball. The play that caught my attention was Cornelius Bennett hitting and flattening ND quarterback Steve Buerline at Birmingham's Legion field in 1986. The 1992 season is one that I remember where I was and what I was doing on every Saturday that Bama played. Miami had a dominant team, was defending national champions, and had the Heisman winning quarterback. And I look at this UCONN game and think to myself. "No one is giving Alabama a chance against the Huskies. But no one gave Alabama a chance against the Caines in that epic Sugar Bowl win on Jan 1st 1993." There are some similarities with these 2 match ups. Alabama played the Hurricanes in the 1990 Sugar Bowl and lost. Alabama played UCONN in December of 2022, lost 67 - 82 (I think that was the score) Alabama's football team in '92 was a defensive monster! Went and just bullied Miami. So think about this- Alabama's Basketball team has the best offense in the nation. Or at least one of the best. They are the top scoring offense. UCONN has lost a game to Creighton earlier, where Creighton beat them by shooting and hitting 3s. If there is ever a silver lining here, and you're like me. I have this gut feeling that Bama might just shock the college basketball world. And if they win this game against UCONN? They played Purdue pretty close in Toronto back earlier this season. Edey had I think 37 pts, while Mark Sears had 30 or 32. (I'm also from the Shoals btw lol.) Alabama had the lead a couple of times in that game. And I told alot of fans that doubted Bama back in December before the conference slate began. I told them that those games against teams like vs Purdue in Toronto, Creighton in Omaha, Arizona in Phoenix, Clemson in Tuscaloosa, Ohio St and Oregon. Alabama played Tennessee twice, and lost. But you cannot overstate the amount of experience that this 1st year team gained by playing those games. Alabama played the entire 1st team All American team this season lol. If Alabama beats UCONN? I will have no doubt that these boys will find a way to beat Purdue, or NC ST. I'll be honest. I want Bama to play Purdue again. Cause I believe coach Oats and this team will know what to do this go round to stop Edey and the Boilermakers. If Bama's season ends against UCONN? I will still have this smile on my face. Because I've wanted to see this basketball program make a final four. And they've finally done that. I'm getting chills thinking about it again. Hey my friend, I've enjoyed this back n forth. Thanks for the replies, the conversation, and I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful remainder of the week, and let's RooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIDE ROLL all over those gyotdang Huskies next weekend! Roll Tide!
