I lived in Chattanooga from age 1 to 35. I really miss it, as it had everything! Work forced me to Charlotte in 1982 and I have always wanted to go back. It is even better now than when I was there! Highly recommend.

My wife and I are considering the ideal place to officially settle down that might include a number of factors, and I was drawn directly to look at Chattanooga. We're currently living in rural Eastern Oregon, which is a no-go for just about everything we want. For starters, we're both business-oriented people, already running a wedding photography/videography business and working to build a production company from the ground up, so we need a place that's business friendly. The only positive that came out of our small town of La Grande, OR is that everyone knows each other and it enabled us to get our business into the spotlight, something we couldn't achieve in the city, but what drew me to Chattanooga was someone's description of it as a small town and big city at the same time. Low cost of living and no state income tax seems like an absolute win. Tennessee's natural beauty also seems ideal for our field of cinematography, and exposing the kids to culture and activity is a must, which we know Tennessee is full of. We have to do more research into this but I hope Chattanooga can be the place that fits every bit of this criteria.

#11 - Tennessee is one of the best states for US Military Vets. My In-Laws currently live about 45 minutes east of Chattanooga, and that was based on the benefits of being there.
My wife and I are currently looking at GS jobs in the Chattanooga area. The cost of living compared to Las Vegas is insanely good. It puts us closer to her parents, as well as my parents who live down in lower Alabama. I have been looking at houses out in Soddy-Daisy, and the value of what you get is so good. What about restaurants, cultural events like museums, theaters, concerts, art galeries? On most of the pictures I saw of Chattanooga there was not much of a downtown area. @@NoogaTeam No offense, but, meh. There is no real reason for me to "create an account" when I can just use zillow, redfin or somebody who doesn't lock down information.

Rentals is not my specialty. I would recommend using someone who focuses on rentals and has better insight than me.

One negative dangerous roads twisting through mountains ZERO lights. No nightlife. Okay if you like camping and hiking. Beautiful place but very slow. You will end up sitting on couch in evenings .
