Vivobarefoot Magna Trail Beyond 1 Year Later Review (2022)

  • I've sat on this for a long time, while I go out and use these on a regular basis BUT I finally got off my hard drive backside and pieced together a long-term review of the Vivobarefoot Magna Trail shoes! Vivobarefoot have seen split the Magna Trail into three models (Forest, FG and Magna), however, these are the only ones to come in an all-black silhouette ;)
    The Corduroy body and neoprene lining make for a durable, rugged, yet light and malleable trail shoe that's very impressive for the trails but also every day. It still holds its waterproofing even as general wear and tear creeps in, but I can say it's an awesome versatile shoe, especially for minimalist travellers.

      @@benbousquet1126 great choice for that and agree done of the barefoot silhouette Matt be a little out of place but the magna trail hits the design well. Also finding the tracker Deacon an excellent performer too on that front (with stronger durability and protection as a high top).

    Great review, I got mine from eBay for 90 pounds. The only problem I found was that they are not really waterproof. When I was hiking in Italy at an altitude of 2100m, my feet got soaked because of the rain. Will probably upgrade to the Magna Trail II soon probably

      Let me know how you get on with the II! Can't say about the waterproof that high up as you but I've found these to be waterproof for everyday city walks. Had the sealant around the sole stayed coming loose?

      You're welcome thanks for watching 🙌 you can certainly do these for weight training, kettlebell, machines and static exercise, but I'd suggest other Vivobarefoot shoes or alternate which would fare better in my opinion. Hope that helps!

    Great video. Just curious… how’s the shoe and sole attachment (or detachment) going? Other reviewers have noted this potential flaw. I just found a pair of used Gen 1’s - and wondering if it’s worth getting?

    • @OneTechTraveller
      @OneTechTraveller  10 месяцев назад +1

      It's still alright for the moment but definitely something to keep in mind. If it's an excellent condition Gen 1 then you'll be able to get good amount out of it, though I don't know if Gen 2 is any better. Mine are holding up still since so if you can still get a Gen 1 floating around, why not! KBA 🤙

    Sweet review! Do you need to do any heavy cleaning or maintenance for these shoes?
    I've been eyeing these shoes since forever like 3-4 years ago but just didn't have the stomach to buy them coz they aren't cheap at all for me. I somehow decided to splurge slightly and purchased a pair of Vibram Furoshiki Knit Highs last year and I've been loving them, though, because of their cotton/super stretchy material, they've frayed quite a bit here and there, and the tip of the rubber sole where it curls up in front of the toes have started cracking/chipping at the stitching point.... it's a bit saddening as I used to own/use shoes for yeaaaaars! I had a Brooks Cascadia for trail running and it lasted me 5 years with on and off trail running every month or so. And I can't use the vibrams for trail/hikes because it's a flat sole, which would likely just slide in any muddy conditions.
    Tempted to get these but I'm just afraid of their ability to last as I'm not the gentlest with my shoes. Will probably wear them everyday including for runs and hikes.

    • @OneTechTraveller
      @OneTechTraveller  Год назад +2

      Thanks! For the magna trail not at all. It handles very well even if you go through the mud etc just dries and brushes off. Little maintenance on these from my experience. I imagine the newer generations to be the same. For everyday casual use, you'll get more mileage or retain the visual aesthetic with their synthetic materials than say the hide leather that tend to crease along the toe joints. Happy with these and taking with me on my Keep Being Awesome 3.0 tour as I'm currently in a Philippines :). Hope that helps let me know how you get on!
      Keep being awesome

    I plan to buy Magna but get confused which since I live in Bali but I want to use it also when travelling to Europe in winter time. Can you advise? About the sizing, do you think it will be precise if we choose in centimeter?

    • @OneTechTraveller
      @OneTechTraveller  Год назад

      Hey Rita 👋 these will be great as an all year shoe especially as a traveling minimalist so good choice 👌 I'll be visiting Bali early next year actually so I'm keen to hear your experience about the area too!
      For sizing i believe their size guide refers to the length of the shoe so measure what the toe box is to your toes for a better idea. If its more than 1 finger width then itll be too big and is better to size down. Let me know how that goes

      I walk in mine on a daily basis. 99% in the city, so only concrete. I hat some muscle aches in the first few days, since my feet needed to build muscles to stabilise everything. and now I can't imagine walking in different shoes anymore. oh, and after 8months walking only in them, my regular shoes don't fit anymore.
