This channel will grow! Not only because sound recording is an underserved topic on RUclips and your videos are well produced, but also because you both are incredibly likable. It's a pleasure to watch your videos. Weiter so, ihr seid toll!
That was fun coming with you, thanks for taking us! I recently dropped my H1n in a large puddle (hasn't worked since), I'm considering something 32 bit but size and portability is key and must accept my Roland binaurals. Looking forward to more fun videos 👍
I look forward to see what this Tascam can do. I've been on the lookout for a more portable version of the Zoom F6 or MixPre3 II that can do 32-bit float with a minimum of two XLR-inputs and with a longer battery life, so I was pleased the other day to finally see that Zoom has announced the F3. Would love to hear your thoughts on it if you get to try it out.
Oh yes, I think it could be very interesting for MS recordings. Using a long shotgun microphone and the Ambient Emesser on top. Everything fixed in a blimp could be very compact.
Thank you for the video. Love the continuity from the last one. I got sooo many questions: 0) Would you ever collect all the questions from videos over the last month and do an Q&A Video? ;) 1) Why did you stop doing the podcast? Haven't finsihed the last episode but i am half way through the last one and I am wondering why you stopped. Loved it! 2) Where besides Bandcamp and your website do you sell your sounds? Are you using Pond5 and websites like that? 3) Why don't you have a patreon and Kofi website? You do have a fan base and I would pay good money for exclusive content, for example a daylie small vlogs shot on your phone. 4) Did you get rid of your Audio Technica 4025? 5) What happend to your Zoom F4? Is it alive and well? 6) Has Libby ever had the urge to go back to doing weddings? Maybe one every now and then? 7) This one might be odd but: where do you pay taxes? It seems your buisness is located in the us, but how exactly do you as a german explain your income from a us company. isn't that very difficult? 8) Health Insurance when traveling like you two: how on earth does that work? I know german insurance requires forms and check ups for various countries. With Libby being a us citzien isn't she in trouble with us health insurance prices traveling that much? Or are you two married and she is technically a german citizen at this point? sorry for being that intrusive, skip this one if you want to. 9) Is your equipment insured? 10) Do you guys at this point have a storrage box in some country you visit regrularly? It seems like a big hassle to carry all that gear around. Or do you get rid of stuff on a regular basis? 11) Have you ever had a time where one of you got really sick and you had to return to germany/ the us to get treated? I know there are hospitals all over the world but, again, insurance reasons maybe? 12) Have you ever gotten specific requests to record something? Kind of a job where you got hired for something specific? 13) Do you know of any movies or games where your sounds where used? or apps? 14) How about buying an apartment/small house somehwere in the world to settle down once you two get old? ;) 15) In which country would you two like to retire? at some point? have you ever thought about that? 16) What happend to the zoom H6/H8? 17) How far in advance do you map out where you go and when? Do you already know where you will spend the summer? Are there alternatives like if we dont hit that budget milstone it's thailand again instead of barbados or something? 18) Will you ever go to New Zealand, Russia or Norway? 19) If you do use Pond 5 or anything similar, how do you price your tracks? by length? rarity? 20) Has Libby any interest in recording sound? Or you in editing the videos? You could switch roles for a month! 21) Do you sometimes delete recordings because you are unhappy with the quality or mic position? If so do you have examples? 22) Is Libby always with you when you are recording? And if so how do you keep her from getting bored when watching sou set up mics and asking her to be quiet constantly? Thank you!
WOW!!! So many question but lots of great ones. I will talk about it with Libby and we could just make a Q&A about these questions. Also if other users read this part and want to add some more that would be awesome!
Hi Marcel and Libby, great new video format! 10mins is the perfect length for such a video as well. i also liked that there were some fun edits sprinkled here and there (e.g. the coin not going into the slot :D ). already excited about your experiences with the x8 :)
Hey there 👋 I Love your Videos about Audio Recording so much. You Made me Dig out my old tascam dr5 again! But i have to say that i Love the vlogs Even More. Always going to the wrong Places first 😅😅 I Hope both of you enjoy your Life! Greetings aus Düsseldorf 🤙🤙🤙
Awesome, looking forward to the review, and love following your travels :-) I nearly bought the Zoom F2 32 bit pocket recorder, but held off after reading some reviews that complained about build quality and other issues. The Tascam looks like a much better bet in terms of build quality. I think they could really mop up sales in the middle ground between the Zoom F2 and the X8 - maybe drop the touch screen and reduce the number of mic inputs, and sell it somewhere in the £200-£300 range, where there's an obvious gap in the market. The X8 is also a little too close to the price of the F6, which looks more robust. If it was in the £400 it might be more attractive, but looking forward to seeing what you say about it :-)
Oh there is also an F3 coming out. Right now I have issues on the X8 with the capsule inputs. Some weird lines are in the frequency range. The XLRs are all fine.
Available on Amazon NOW! I ordered from BH and it’s still showing it’s back ordered but it’s been available on Amazon for a week so I got it a few days ago! Spoilers: it’s amazing!!
Hmm, I think I would but I need to listen first and check the spectrogram. But that would also mean I would need another blimp or cyclone. More weight and space that I don't have anymore.
I’m in the market for a 32 bit field recorder, so it will be either this or the F6. Going to have to checkout a few reviews on this Tascam. Though I did see on your shorts videos that there was a problem (likely solvable with a firmware update) of this one pausing when recording
Hi! Oh I think the problem you mean is the pause rec right? I think all I need to do is changing the db. I think if the db is to low, the recorder stops automatically. The new issue I encountered today is about the inputs.
Until this evening. The Q&A and very first impression video will be out on Thursday, but if you plan to record Ambisonic in the future or link 3 channels you might want to go for the F6. If you only want to use the integrated capsule, record in stereo or mono you can choose the Tascam X8. Let me know if you have other questions.
@@harshsingh6692 Oh yes and I just found an issue within the spectrogram of the capsules. I made a story about it and need to address this in another video. I have the F6 since 2019 and no issues. Its worth every cent.
@@FreeToUseSounds Hello Marcel👋🏻 I'm in the same situation..I'd like to switch to 32 bit (currently I have the tascam dr100 mk3) and I am undecided between this x8 and the zoom f6. Up to now I have never used the integrated microphones, I have always used external mics as lom usi pro, geofon or other binaural mics. I also seemed to understand from your reels and stories that the x8 has some bugs. Surely they will be corrected with the next firmware...but I'm really undecided on which of the two to buy. I hope with your next video to get to choose, in case I write you a message if I still have doubts hoping that you can direct me to the right choice 🙂 thanks and good continuation in Bangkok 👋🏻

@@cryptotrader2779 Yeah this is a bummer! I got more used to it and start liking the recorder more and more but $500 is not nothing. Also one person said this about binaurals.
