I have had my zz plants for about two years and they have been very active in the winter. Our biggest plant put out four shoots in December. And just yesterday, I noticed that there are 4 more new growths.

Yeah. Everyone is saying the same thing about winter growth. I guess it’s just part of the natural cycle for the plants. At least it gives us something to watch grow in the winter when everything else is still sleeping

Hi Dave. I have aluminum awnings covering all my sunny-side windows. To me it seems with the sun lower in the winter sky, the sun is brighter coming up under the awnings and into the house. Contrary, in summer with the sun high in the sky, my indoor sun seems less. Thats not saying much I guess because here in PA we get like 10 sunny days a year! I'm not sure if you have awnings on your windows or not. But either way, good show on those new leaf growths! Thanks for the vid brother.

I can relate. In the winter my windows get direct light. Once the sun climbs a bit and the leaves grow out there is a giant oak tree across the road which filters out 60 percent of the light it seems. Stay warm.

Yessir! It grows so fast in the winter and I can’t figure it out? I need to cut it back soon or else I won’t be able to walk around it anymore

I wonder if that’s just part of their nature? Either way they are awesome plants and easy to care for

@DaveTheHillsideGardener I have mine since 2014, so it is very mature, robust, and stable. I must say it is the most beautiful plant in my home, growing in massive pot and I can say with full confidence it is active the most in January, February not really in wormer months which i always expected from reading about it on the internet. It's with me in my third home now. Even now, while writing this comment, It has 7 new big branches coming out. I leave in Vancouver, BC.
