    I agree with what you said about dlc practices and milking content across multiple mediums, I just don’t think thats simply a FF or Square issue. It’s industry wide. Like with Altus milking persona five with strikers or the new mobile game, or the trails of series story spanning across nearly 20 games. I think what is most important about these products is the level of quality the content releases in. IMO square has been doing that with at the very least the FF series in recent years in comparison the the past decade. This is exemplified by the FF XIV expansions, XVI and it’s dlc, and FFVIIR, all complete and quality games in their own right.

      I so agree with you with it being an industry standard. Kingdom hearts was just an example I used to emphasize my point. I think releasing story content on different platforms like it is not a good idea because it does affect quality in a sense. It's because we are forced to buy a different console, just to know the other side of the lore. I get it though because companies want to reach people outside of core fans. It's annoying, but maybe necessary.

    My whole issue with Squeenix is their publishing third party titles that are clearly subpar while churning out either low quality remasters/remakes of their prior library…yet they ignore what people really want…like a remake of Chrono Trigger (nope just release Chrono Cross again). They could have completely redone the first six final fantasy games but instead slapped a shiny coat of paint on them and sold them for about $14 a game. I want to like the company but I get the feeling they ran out of ideas and are just running as “that company with the best looking FMVs.”

    • @HamZero
      @HamZero  7 месяцев назад

      I agree with you about milking their older titles but when it comes to their ideas, I don't think they're running out. They released awesome ones like DQs, Octopath traveler, Bravely Default and more. But man, you are right about chrono trigger, they seriously need to consider that game. They probably remade 7 because of how popular the game is. FF1-6 is not as popular as 7 in terms of demographic and numbers.

    • @thewhitewolf7241
      @thewhitewolf7241 7 месяцев назад

      FF7 was their first cash cow. It paved the way for them to be more experimental in the PSX era (like with Parasite Eve, another game that needs a remake). Many games feel the same now. I have Octopath Traveler 2 and it looks a lot like Saga Frontier. Granted it’s on the backlog, maybe I’ll be surprised. FFIV and FFVI are regarded as two of the best 16-bit RPGs from that era (maybe 6 more than 4. With todays tech these two stories could really shine with proper presentation (you could even build 4 around FF7Rs combat system since you always control Cecil.)

    • @Mangomesh
      @Mangomesh 7 месяцев назад

      Imagine if Final Fantasy 1 to 6 was made in the octopath traveler engine, but Square Enix took the path of least resistance. However I must say I'm impressed with the latest versions of FF1 to FF6, I'm just glad I never paid for my copy of the games. I believe the Square Soft library of games inherited by Enix after the merger will never be done to the quality that was done for Star ocean 2 R. I agree with you @thewhitewolf7241 .

      The Pixel Remasters were amazing, Id prefer them over a remake honestly. People like me, would rather be able to play a quality version of the older games, the only issue I have they didnt include stuff like "After Years". But that could be licensing or something.

  • @TravaillesDuChanson

    A lot of these gacha games are predatory or there on the borderline of it. The ingame currency is too expensive and it's always pay to win. While I understand they need money to operate the cost of this ingame currency and other microtransactions are almost the cost of a full size game every month. Although you don't have to spend that kind of money, you will be on it from now until the end of purgatory to catch up.
    Another thing I agree is the multi-platform thing. I was really excited to see Crisis Core Reunion finally come to the same platform as the Remake project, but seeing ever crisis go mobile, which has improved a bit since it's now on steam.
    The story of younger Sephiroth really should have been a DLC for Crisis Core. I had heard somewhere that originally Crisis Core was going to be much bigger. They probably would have included the journey into Mnt. Nibel, and potentially gave us not only Sephiroth's younger story but also Gensis, Angeal, and Zack's. That together alone could have been close to 4 or 5 chapters of content depending on how they wrote it. Also they could have included a "intermission" chapter which Zack explains what he does between the years where he goes from Second Class to First Class soldier and more about how his and Aerith's relationship evolved over time. So much was left to the imagination.
    Then let's not even start on Before Crisis....

    Your message is a bit disingenuous, You are right that KH was split among different platforms, but the company was pretty open that they all would make it to consoles, and they released the KH packs that include the other games.
    The times takes sometimes to program and optemize across different games, especially when Nintendo is dragging its ass to meet current standards in terms of hardware, make it really hard.
    I dont think Square Enix really falls into this even close to other companies.

    • @HamZero
      @HamZero  7 месяцев назад +1

      I totally get your point about the difficulty to program these games and have them ported on to other consoles. However, what I was talking about were past problems that come in the form of DLCs. The problem is releasing stuff that should've been part of the original game. As I said in the video, young sephiroth in ever crisis was a bad move and should've been part of crisis core reunion and ff15 prompto dlc's story should've been part of the original. In essence I'm actually talking about their choices of putting game content in bad positions. Nothing really more. Square is still a great company! Thanks for commenting!

    • @GreyfauxxGaming
      @GreyfauxxGaming 7 месяцев назад

      @@HamZero I agree, the issue is prob the cost to how much they make, its why they cut the rest of the DLC for FF15 and left it unfinished. The cost would put them in a deficit. Which maybe AI helping to program will alleviate some of that cost in the future. Its either that or raise game costs to like $100 a game, or take a step back and start making ps3 quality games. I think it's hard thing for company like Square who is seen as pioneers of the RPG space. They are expected to drop blockbusters, not indy games. But I do see your point.

  • @Mangomesh
    @Mangomesh 7 месяцев назад

    Square Enix lowered the quality and value of the original Final Fantasy games, adding new elements and characters padding out the games. Square Enix bastardized the epic original FF7 game and that is the problem.

    • @AB-jt4rs
      @AB-jt4rs 7 месяцев назад +1

      The biggest 'problem' about final fantasy now, is actually something that used to be one of the franchises main points of intrigue.
      Each and every new game is completely different.
      This used to be really cool. Fans got to look forward to a new and fresh experience every 2-3 years. If they didn't like the newest game, it was never that big of a deal, because the next one was already around the corner.
      But in an age where video games usually take anywhere from 4 to even 10 years to develop, new titles are expected to be incredible, and god forbid the newest game doesn't appeal to everyone, a large chunk of FF fans get incredibly agitated, because this means they'll be forced to wait another 7-ish years for the next game. But since nobody knows what the next game will be like, it just works out awfully.
      To be honest, this is a flaw in the very essence of final fantasy. It's not really something that can be "fixed" without literally erasing what it means to be FF. But I do think that it is definitely something fans need to acknowledge.
      Even though one may claim to be an 'FF fan' the very nature of this ever evolving franchise isn't designed for any single person to like each and every new game; that's just simply the hard truth that people need to come to terms with.

      You are right about that. The games were different in terms of story, but when it came to the gameplay (Battle systems), there were minor tweaks to the turn-base. When they decided to switch it to the full action RPG is when things got dicey. The story and ideas were there, but the gameplay is partly what divided fans. Some liked it while others wanted Action RPG. But Tripla A RPGs in general were progressing into action RPG anyways and that's what some people have a hard time with. As you pointed out, it's ever evolving and not everyone will be use to each title coming out. @@AB-jt4rs
