Newey is more than a designer, he wants the fastest car and fastest driver combo because at the end of the day he loves racing and going fast, him having more control will help aston become champions, now convince daddy stroll to drop lance lol.
Stroll is a genius for this. Giving newey “skin in the game”. Newey is now incentivized for AMR to dominate as long as he is has his skin in the company. Genius
It’s like everyone forgot the longtime partnership between Aston and redbull racing and how the Aston Martin Valkyrie was his first true hyper car that HE designed. This is the least surprising thing
The one thing that concerns me about this is that while newey has had success, he never had the pressure that he will be getting now. Teams he went to had little success before he joined them, he had no pressure to do extremely well. If newey doesn't deliver, this will be an absolute nightmare for Aston Martin.
A fun fact for you when Adrian Newey left Leyton House (March) to join Williams the new designer who took over from him threw his car designs away.... oh dear.
Newey always joins a team that is currently underperforming but has potential, so no surprise, really. Also he'd never get on with the Ferrari culture...
If having a meh second driver is the cost of having an owner who’s this all in on his team succeeding, it’s a worthwhile trade. Imagine if Gene Haas wanted to win this much. Stroll might cost them constructors titles but will enable them to win the drivers if they’re in a 2 team title fight
It’s not a worthwhile trade. Lawrence took over the 4th fastest team, spent a fuckton, and delivered 7th, 4th, 7th, 7th and 5th. Utterly bottled it last season against McLaren as well
The current ground effect era has definitely worked in Newey's favour! He may not have been as "hot property" had he left rebull in say 2020 or 2021. (7:17 to 7:25 kind of sums this up but in a different way)
“Final piece of the puzzle” lmao What puzzle? Stroll took over a team who always overachieved with limited resources and only broke the top 4 once in 6 years (where they literally copied the Merc from the previous year lol) That team are specialists in disappointment. There’s no plan, no expectation, no direction, no results, no improvement, no future talents, and no leadership Best of luck to Adrian Newey, he’ll need it
They didn’t overachieve. They had an OP engine. And then they started copying Mercedes. That has nothing to do with their car. You want to talk about overachieving - it’s Toro Rosso in 2008, Lotus in 2012-2013, Brawn in 2009.

You want to say Williams were stronger under her than under James Vowles? There was (for me at least) an element of scepticism about the rumours of him going to Ferrari, at the time it was announced he was leaving Red Bull. Take another great designer from the UK, John Barnard. Although he had 2 stints at Ferrari, he refused to move to Italy, instead setting up a Ferrari design facility in Guildford, Surrey. However, the logistical issues associated with working in the UK for Ferrari, where he was required to periodically show his face in the factory in Italy, that was hard. I wondered, hearing that Newey wanted to stay in the UK, whether Aston Martin wasn't such a long shot after all. I feel vindicated in this regard
I hope Newey can shape Aston Martin into an environment that’s as close to the ideal f1 team as possible. I wanna see Fernando Alonso’s 33rd win and maybe his 3rd world championship
Let's compare apple to apple from Sir Newey perspective. He wanted influence change into his upcoming F1 project and also transfer his legacy designs thru it's company products. Ferrari and Aston Martin will be the relevant mov, but will be challenging for Ferrari Italian heritage to come up with current Aston's offer (with hidden clause let say special funds to Newey personal projects). Let's observe and enjoy what Racing Point will be put on for 2025 season!!!
I think Alonso will stick around for '26, but I think Laurence Stroll might be pressured (likely by investors and Honda) into giving Lance the boot in favour of someone else, like for example Tsunoda or someone from Honda's downline.
I think people are just forgetting that Aston Martin had the second fastest car at the start of last season.... They already have a great base, Newey is just another stone, Aston are lacking what Newey gives, for sure its not garanteed, but the potencial is there and they have one driver that could give them the wins, but for sure the other one will be a stone in the way xD
long shot, RB dominate ground effect because mercedes doesn't have allison. he is back for just a year and mercedes already get 3 wins, on top of that we will see how mercedes and ferrari will develop the engine without the engine freeze.
What quote are you using to say Aston are underdelivering on promises? I remember Lawrence Stroll said they wanted to be fighting for podiums and wins by 2025/26 back in 2021. They got a podium in their first year, and at the start of 2023 were a step ahead of Ferrari, Mercedes, and Mclaren. If it weren't for Newey's monster, their season last year would look a lot like Red Bull this year, dominant at the start before struggling to keep up with development. Alonso got 4th in the WDC in just their 3rd season in the sport! That's better than Red Bull, and the same as Lewis in Mercedes' 3rd season (and they bought the WCC team, whereas AM bought a team that couldn't even design their own car in 2020). I think they're doing pretty good, and if Audi managed similar results in their first 3 years, we'd call it a success.
He could still have been at Williams if they hadn't screwed him over. He wanted more say in running the team (and effectively a part-ownership of the team), including having a say in who drove "his" cars. Williams said "of course", then went behind his back, said, "oops, sorry, had to make a quick decision. Won't happen again." Of course it did, and so he left. Yes, there was more to it than that but there actually didn't need to be. TBH, I'm surprised he's never wanted to have his own team. Imagine if he'd bought the Manor entry, for example. I'm sure he could have got the backing and a queue of top talent trying to get a job. I don't see why they couldn't have been a top team by now.
Bec. Adrian is a designer and not a team principal. Agree with the Williams case thats facts! But if Adrian was an owner he would be spread out too thin and won’t be able to design winning cars anymore, too much on his plate.

Top video, thank you!
Stroll is a genius for this. Giving newey “skin in the game”. Newey is now incentivized for AMR to dominate as long as he is has his skin in the company. Genius
Maybe Nevey get to design some impressive Aston Martin street cars.
8:45. His best impression of Darth Vader.
It’s like everyone forgot the longtime partnership between Aston and redbull racing and how the Aston Martin Valkyrie was his first true hyper car that HE designed. This is the least surprising thing
yes! next question
if RB does not get its act together Jos is gonna talk Max into getting some of that Stroll $$$ for himself
lance, daddy got you newey fr u
LOL, Those anthems .... The funniest yet
Finally Sir Lancelot may win a race.
The one thing that concerns me about this is that while newey has had success, he never had the pressure that he will be getting now. Teams he went to had little success before he joined them, he had no pressure to do extremely well. If newey doesn't deliver, this will be an absolute nightmare for Aston Martin.
Yes to the Linkin Park reference
And Newey can paint his office any color he likes.
A fast car, needs a championship driver to win championships, just ask Lewis, Max and Checo.
Utterly bottled it last season against McLaren as well
man, you made so great videos... what is this?
The current ground effect era has definitely worked in Newey's favour! He may not have been as "hot property" had he left rebull in say 2020 or 2021.
(7:17 to 7:25 kind of sums this up but in a different way)
“Final piece of the puzzle” lmao
What puzzle? Stroll took over a team who always overachieved with limited resources and only broke the top 4 once in 6 years (where they literally copied the Merc from the previous year lol)
That team are specialists in disappointment. There’s no plan, no expectation, no direction, no results, no improvement, no future talents, and no leadership
Best of luck to Adrian Newey, he’ll need it
Thats why newey is there, he's there to provide direction
They didn’t overachieve. They had an OP engine. And then they started copying Mercedes. That has nothing to do with their car.
You want to talk about overachieving - it’s Toro Rosso in 2008, Lotus in 2012-2013, Brawn in 2009.
@@paperplane-db8qf
With the one of the lowest budgets on the grid, their last 6 seasons were 6th, 6th, 5th, 4th, 4th and 5th* That’s an average position of 5th
Compare this to them since Stroll took over: 7th, 4th, 7th, 7th, 5th, 5th. An average position of 5.833
So despite a fuckton of investment there has been no sustained improvement. This is using an analysis of 12 years
*if you add Perez/Ocon’s points together in 2018 it was enough for 5th
@@Duval-In-The-Wall yeah because of an OP Mercedes engine.
Even a badly managed Williams under Claire was a strong team from 2014-2017. You want to say Williams were stronger under her than under James Vowles?
Force India were also helped by the fact that Honda and Renault were pretty crap engines so it meant that McLaren , Toro Rosso, Alpine were uncompetitive.
Aston Martin should buy all the other teams and that way you know who could get his title.
Maybe next year the stroll maiden win prediction will finally come true for you Josh
Next year's car will not be designed by Newey
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Nope!
AM has basically just one competitive driver. I would start fixing that
He also had a hand in the March 85C Indycar that won the Indy 500 and championship. As if he needs more accolades lol
I hope Newey can shape Aston Martin into an environment that’s as close to the ideal f1 team as possible. I wanna see Fernando Alonso’s 33rd win and maybe his 3rd world championship
This will haunt this RUclipsr come end of 2026. ✌️✌️✌️
Giving Aston the Josh Revell curse right after signing newey is diabolical.
What's the background music?
LINKIN PARK FANS ASSEMBLE 🗣️
The Aston in 2026 should be an absolute weapon
Eddie Jordan low-key getting Adrian, his client, a job at his former team. 😅
And getting paid for it. Good point!
I think people are just forgetting that Aston Martin had the second fastest car at the start of last season.... They already have a great base, Newey is just another stone, Aston are lacking what Newey gives, for sure its not garanteed, but the potencial is there and they have one driver that could give them the wins, but for sure the other one will be a stone in the way xD
if lance stroll wins a race... even a single race, it will cement his legacy
A legacy that is better than Pastor Maldonado. But for now Pastor has the better one.
The Era of the Eyebrow has begun.
With Newey's help and If nepotism doesn't get in the way (It probably will), I think Aston Martin might have a chance at a world title.
long shot, RB dominate ground effect because mercedes doesn't have allison. he is back for just a year and mercedes already get 3 wins, on top of that we will see how mercedes and ferrari will develop the engine without the engine freeze.
The new project 33, get Alonso win 33
when Lance 'Stroll by name, Stroll by nature' is one of your drivers then the answer is no
Aston’s problem is their driver lineup, is already worse than the top 4 teams and will be worse than Williams next season
Clarkson told us weeks ago too
I CALLED IT! I CALLED THIS!
