I loved orange tab Levis, fit more slender in the thighs, the bell and big bell and sit low on waist, even us girls wore the mens sizes. I'm not really about all the stretch denim now
I have ever worn 1998 Silvertab Loose, 1998 Silvertab Baggy, 1998 Redtab 560 and 1998 Orangetab 560, all of them are size 36X30, here's my review:
(1)Silvertab Loose and Baggy will definitely cover your shoes, I don't like such kind of jeans made for skate boys, so I sold them after several times of wearing, but Silvertab must be the best series jeans of Levi's, Levi's made them with various kind of materials, I've owned denim, corduroy, linen, khaki Silverab jeans, it's like Levi's completely dedicated to the Silvertab (2)Except the difference you mentioned on video, width on hem of Redtab 560 is a bit wider than Orangetab 560, but both of them are great, 560 is my favourite
the two rows of stitching to attach the back pocket are closer together on orange tab. so a red tab’s may be more robust.
comparing my 2 similar era 505, the orange tabs are indeed a hair slimmer in the thigh

Ive got a pair of orange tab 505's that were my dads that I love. I don't wear them for sentimental reasons but I wish i could find a modern day pair that fits the same way! The newew 505s just dont fit as snug

I have an orange tab pair of Levi with leather back tag and date code of 5 and 0. The model number is 22125. I can not decifer if the y are May 1970 or May 1980. Right pocket has a leather logo with a cowboy scene and the left pocket has a matching corduroy patch on pocket. Can you help?
It's gonna be 1980. In 1970 Levi's wasn't including that information on their jeans. Those jeans sound dope!

Yeah, in the early 2000s. In 2018 they released a short run silvertab throwback line but it was short lived.

Bout to get some 506 regular straight fit orange tab do you know how they would fit ? I’m hoping it’s tappered or a slimmer fit than the standard 505 of today
The 506 is a straight fit so it won't be tapered. I'm not sure how it compares to the 505 of today. But let us know how you like it!

I just bought a pair of orange tan vintage jeans on Poshmark they fit like a glove- seller claims they are a 28-29 but feel more snug and also in the legs I’m pretty muscular but I love they way they fit and also in the butt area very complimentary.
Since there seems to be less orange tab jeans and jackets out there in the wild, would orange tabs have a higher premium than the red?
In some cases, yes (80s 517s imo) . But generally the highest value Levi’s are still red tabs.

Just ordered a few orange tabs and some are in fact woman’s jeans but in my size, it shouldn’t be all to bad fit wise for me given the age and also that it’s the style I’ve been looking for (550s) ?!

i have both red and orange 550s and i find that the orange tab os more hard to come by. i also have the 560s (more narrow at then hem). i am a size 36 but have to get these in a 38. My previous purchsess of the W36 is way too snugged on my belly. :)

Yes, that is normal. In order to copyright the tab and not just the text Levi's will produce a pair without the spell out every so often in the production. Great find!

@@jkmanaloto4302 technically the blank with the trademark icon because they are produced in less numbers than the full spell out, but i haven’t seen that make much of a difference in desirability. This is likely because buyers would rather have the spell out than the blank even though they arent as technically rare. Good question!
Is orange tab lesser quality Denim?
In some cases yes, but not on the whole. There is some debate about this, but in my opinion not generally.

My orange tabs have no ribbits at all, bell bottoms.
Perfectly normal. Some orange tabs had no rivets what so ever.
@@LootFam For the first 5 or so years after their launch, orange tab Levi's had no rivets. They were intended to fill the market place as fashion denim pants, without the traditional jeans characteristics.
his all happened at the time when jeans came back into fashion, so they were manufactured all over the world. With some jeans manufactured for the local market, while others were for export, their were hundreds of different designs.
The UK factory produced very poor quality and everyone looked for the 'Made in Turkey' label. The Turkish jeans used locally produced denim, which was probably the toughest denim that Levi's ever used.
People rarely realise that like wine, cotton has good and bad years. This caught Levi's out badly, when some factories were suddenly producing rubbish.
With all the factories using locally produced denim and fittings, it virtually impossible to date anything.
One example was when the cap E was replaced with the lower case e, France was sent the wrong artwork. People are still finding these jeans and making totally wrong assumptions about their age.
The whole thing is a complete minefield. As staff and designers at Levi's move on or retire, no one today has any REAL knowledge of what was produced where and when. Most of the mistakes were never noticed, let alone documented.
