Generally speaking, Levi's 501® jeans from the 80's to around 92/93 had higher placed back pockets. It's surprising that most people don't mention that aspect as it does make an aesthetic difference when wearing them. I believe that the Capital E Levi's from the 50's through to the early 70's did have lower placed pockets, and for some reason, the designers and/or quality control at Levi's® Strauss Co. decided it was a good idea to place the back pockets lower again. ¿ Blame it on the pant sagging slouch craze of the 90's ? Who knows.
Great point!
So excited about this series! Super helpful tips!
Glad you like them!
Thanks so much for sharing your expertise with us!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Genuinely love and appreciate this channel thank you for all the wisdom it’s greatly appreciated have a great day 💯
I appreciate that! Thanks!
I have 2 pair that I know I’ve had for at least 32 yrs. I’ve had them packed for 25 yrs.
Was literally gonna reach out to you regarding some Levi's I was looking at earlier today & then I see this! Random! Haha
Haha hit me up bro! Deleted Facebook, but still on the gram.
Thank you for the information good video
Aweosme videos very helpful
I have a pair where the back patch is stamped blue instead of red. Different type of stitching on the outside seam.
Hey there! I recently bought two vintage corduroy Levi’s jackets, but they don’t have care tags. Both from the 70s.
Hey man great vids
Glad you like them!
Hi I bought a vintage Levi’s 501XX skirt from NYC years ago. How can I date please. The care tab is different from others you’ve shown. Many thanks
Stevie
This video was helpful, thanks! Does a pair of big E orange tab Levi's mean they're vintage? The pair I found today at the bins is made in the USA, has a single nylon or fabric tag (not paper) and doesn't have a back patch. Thoughts?
Hey Alana! Could you send me a couple pictures of the jeans? Lootfam1@gmail.com Generally, pair of orange tab Big E jeans would be from the early 70s, but I'd like to confirm visually. Levi's did briefly rerelease the orange tab line in the 2000 teens, but very low runs.
I also would like to know if another pair I have are vintage. It's 501 sand - although it could be called beige - made in the UK. 100% cotton with a little e on the red tab. The label could be leather or card stock with red image and black lettering for style and size.
I have a pair of Levi’s that say ls&co on a leather patch’s that are from the 90s and I can’t find anything about them they also have a white tab and they are baggy fit
I have a pair of black 514 w28 x l28 size 16REG. The label is black as well with red writing for style, size, width and length. They are very slim so I don't think there would be a market for it if I was to sell them. Do you have any idea? Thank you
Could you send me a couple photos to lootfam1@gmail.com ? I can take a look at both pairs.
Hey! I’ve got a pair of big E Levi’s with selvage, Conmar zipper, offset rear belt loop, and hidden rivets but the stinking back patch is missing!! Can you help me figure out what model and age they are?
Sure! Send me some photos to lootfam1@gmail.com this pair sounds great!
I have a pair of 505 with the red tab that says Levi's ®, which is normal, but what about written on the other side? If yes, okay. But what about upside down?
Upside down is standard for Levi's tabs. All good.
Have you ever seen a pair of 501s with the big E but the red tab was significantly larger as well?
There are a couple possibilities. One is that they are a "rodeo" promo. These were generally oversized and had a large big red tab on the back pocket. The other is that they could be fake. If you have photos you can send them to lootfam1@gmail.com. Thanks!
Hi. Did you get a chance to look over the photos i attached to the last mail i wrote a while back yet? (Feb. 22'nd )
Oh no! I think i may have forgotten to finish my reply. I'm on it.
I have Capital E bell bottoms, but the care tag is removed. Is there another way to date them?
Sure is! Here is a video on all about Levi's Bellbottoms: ruclips.net/video/MoinOMKE3OQ/видео.html
If that doesn't solve it for you. Please email me some photos to lootfam1@gmail.com! Thanks!
Hi! I found a pair of vintage Levis 646 orange tab with a snap instead of a button. I have two other pairs of these but not sure about this snap! Have you heard of a pair of 646 with snap?
Typically, this means it’s a youth pair. Are they small?
@@LootFam the size is faded but the measurements are mine which are a size woman’s 27. I wish I could send you a pic of the inside tag with numbers. One side has washing instructions with 3% shrinkage and the other has numbers. Size faded tho.
I have a pair of 501s red tag made in USA dated 1993
The red tag doesn't have the word Levi's on either side (just the copyright logo)
Does a red tag like that have any significance ?
Unfortunately, no. The blank tab has been in use for many decades. While technically more rare it's actually less desired. Sounds like a pair from the 90s. Still awesome though! Thanks for watching!
hey there, do you know the difference between the 550 and 551? i’ve been trying to figure this out forever lol
Very good question. As far as i can tell the 551 was a plus size version of the 550. The cuts are nearly the same but I personally never find the 551 in a size small size.
Often times the care tag still states that the lot number is 550 even though the patch and the front of the tag says 551.
Hi! I have a pair of levi jeans with an orange tag and the two horse patch in the back is black. I believe from the 90s
I was hoping you could help me identify them
Could you send me some photos to lootfam1@gmail.com? I can take a look!
@@LootFam already sent 😄
I have a pair of 1970's women's Levi's with the two horses (red stitching) on one hip pocket and the "bat wing" on the other pocket. I can't find out anything about them!?
Would you be willing to send me some pictures of the jeans to lootfam1@gmail.com ? I’d love to take a look and let you know what i think.
Ik this was posted a year ago. But I found Levi’s with a back patch that says 18505-0214 made in America. Do you have any idea the age of them? Also the care tag is under the left front pocket
I'm guessing early 80s, but if you can send me some photos to lootfam1@gmail.com I'd love to help narrow it down further. thanks!
@@LootFam perfect I’ll shoot you a Email here soon thank you for ur help
Hi.
I have a pair of vintage UK made "510" that i want to put up for sale, but they have an "02" after the "510", and i'm struggling finding info on what that nr means? Anyone that shed some light on that, please?
I'm actually not certain. I've seen these are UK levis but haven't ever been able to determine for certain what it means. My inclination is that it's a part of the material code, but it seems the it's fairly unique to Uk and maybe some other EU versions.
@@LootFam Aha, ok. (thnx for replying so quickly🙂) Do you have a theory on what kind of materials it could refer to?
So if it says made in USA on leather tan at the back it is vintage?
Yes, it most likely is! If you'd like I can help you with more details if you wanna email me some photos to lootfam1@gmail.com. Thanks!
I got a, pair I am stumped on the tab color. They are usa ladies. Can you help
Sure can try! Shoot me some pictures to lootfam1@gmail.com and I'll take a look. Thanks!
I have 2 pairs of Levis the look of them seem Vintage but hard to tell. wish I knew more on levis as I have 3 pairs 😪
Send me some pictures of your jeans to lootfam1@gmail.com and I'll take a look! Thanks!
@@LootFam perfect will do thank you
I found a Levi’s blanket idk anything about it please help
shoot me some photos to lootfam1@gmail.com
Got to be made in America 🇺🇸 to be desirable
whats up so you said the capital e was changed to a lower cse e but did the double side tag printing begin at the same time because my dad has a pair of 502 s that have the levis print on the redtag with capital e on both sides of the tag, what does that indicate
The double side printing started a few decade prior to that change. Your dad's jeans are typical of the levis production standards during the 502 era. Would you be willing to send me some photos of the jeans and some of it's details to lootfam1@gmail.com. I may have able to shine some more light on them. That pair is quite valuable. Thanks for sharing!
@@LootFam yeah
I need help with my Levi’s tag
Sure. Send some photos to lootfam1@gmail.com
how old are they if they just have the trademark “R” on them?
A single R is in every 1 in 10 levis tabs. This has been that way for nearly 100 years. We’d need to use other methods to determine it’s age.
@@LootFam okay awesome! Mind if I emailed a picture!? I’m recently have been trying to get into the vintage scene and I’m trying to do my research! It’s so cool and interesting to me
@@LootFam do you have an email?
Josh, I just started reselling and bought a pair of Levi 505xx. The patch on back says made in USA. There’s a small tag on the inside next to the pocket that also says Made in USA. That tag has no logo. On that tag and on the back of button it says 918. Any idea about age? If you’ll give me your email address I can send pictures. Thanks for your help, Mike
