Going to be a sweet ride bud. Can't remember if you said you were going to paint it or not but either paint or just a clean up and clear coat it will look awesome.
Not doing any body work right now. When I get the truck driving, I might work on the box some. I plan to enjoy the truck for a few years or so the way the body is. Might try buffing it to just bring the paint to life some.
I know you sold your truck but I still go through and answer answerable questions from comments about "my year trucks" !! This t-case was painted a dull satin orange paint on the assembly line. They shot the "205 and the Rockwell " at the same time upon final assembly and check for leaks. Jim
Me too. I did some research and I guess they were painted a redish primer if they had any paint at all. Later 70s might have gotten black paint. Not sure anybody really knows what years did what. They were not chevy orange from the factory.
I always bought 4 wheel drive trucks because pickups get stuck so easily and are terrible in the snow without the 4 wheel drive. BUT, I also tried off-roading and had a BLAST. As long as you don't do any rock crawling, you should be able to preserve the paint on your truck if you do any off-roading.
With the right tires and proper weight in the rear you can snow plow in 2wd. Never enjoyed off-roading in my truck. To much time and money into it to go break stuff. Now a truck used and built specifically for that would make all the difference.
Trucks are very light in the rear. A 2wd truck in snow is not good without some weight in the bed. This truck will be doing very little off roading. Maybe some dirt roads and our farm.
This transfer case did great in the truck. These NP205's are pretty hard to kill. I never did put that truck in 4wd. I would put money down that it worked. It did leak a little but not bad. I have heard these transfer cases are hard to keep leak free. The speedo adapter is known to leak too.
If you watch my other videos, I explain why I went with the TH350. That is what the truck would have come with, and I would have needed custom driveshafts made front and rear if I changed the trans.
They go in backwards so to speak. One each direction. One keeps 90 wt out of adapter and the other keeps auto trans fluid out of adapter. Along with O ring on the input shaft of t case.
Why are you asking me questions when you didn't even watch the video? Like you don't have time to watch my video, but I have all the time in the world to answer all your questions. Who the hell is Jimmy Wichard???
I’m doing my own installation and I was wondering if you knew whether there should be a bearing around the coupler to the transmission side I found another video which shows that there is ruclips.net/video/BYkveYYDG8E/видео.html

From what I was able to find out they were not painted orange at all. They were either not painted or painted black from the factory.
I definitely like gray paint vs the orange.

Where did you get the crossmember and mounting hardware for the transfercase
They were all on the truck. If you need stuff like that Ebay would probably be the best place to look.
What size are the bolts for frame mount bushing to the transfer case
I don't know. I reused my old bolts in both of my builds.
Best guess for "why" anything rebuilding or repurposeing is it was available and ahh close enuff.

Where did you get the 10/27 spline coupler?
This video will explain it: ruclips.net/video/QVQw2ckiQKw/видео.html I have a whole playlist on this truck with just about everything done to it.
What transmission are you using
TH350, I have videos on everything about this truck in its playlist on my channel.
@@mossman381 nice I will used a th400 nice job
If you watch my other videos, I explain why I went with the TH350. That is what the truck would have come with, and I would have needed custom driveshafts made front and rear if I changed the trans.
Adapter to transfer seal was in backwards
No it wasn't.
They go in backwards so to speak. One each direction. One keeps 90 wt out of adapter and the other keeps auto trans fluid out of adapter. Along with O ring on the input shaft of t case.
So the np205 only connects at the back of the trans ?? there is no mount ??
Did you watch the whole video?
@@mossman381 not yet jimmy wichard

@@mossman381 sorry didn’t mean to bother you it was a simple yes or no question but I guess your brain is still evaluating the equation
@@FirstGendodgegarage If you watched the video you would know the answer but I guess your brain doesn't work at all.

That video has a factory adaptor. I used a th350 to NP205 Advance Adaptor.
@@mossman381 yup figured it out thank you
