- Hey everyone! Welcome to another episode of LET'S FJ!
Hope you enjoy this video I threw together with clips my dad recorded during our recent trip on the Elephant Hill trail in Canyonlands National Park! It was recently my spring break so we got the chance to run the trail and it was great!
Some friendly folks also joined us on the trail in their Jeep and had a blast as well, so while they weren't officially with us you will probably hear and see them in the background. They were just glad not to be alone out there since they hadn't run the trail in many many years, and heck, it had been 9 years for myself as well! But I hope you enjoy the footage and if you ever get the chance, I recommend running this trail!
Details about the FJ:

- 1/2" Bandi body lift
- 1.25" Spidertrax wheel spacers
- 17x7" TRD wheels
- 255/85R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T tires
- All Pro rock sliders

I have to compliment the cardio of the camera operator.
I remember that "little momentum" spot coming back up the hill, it made me nervous and I turned on the locker before the extra push. It was also cool to see Dupont Gap from that angle, since you really can't see anything when your in it. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video!!!
One of my fav trails...
Good job dad. I need to start going to moab more often for sure
Great video and fun time! I will sure pay this a visit next time in Moab
Yeah I’ve seen photos of long travel FJs even with the extended fiberglass fenders fit through the Devil’s Pocket, so you should be good!
This was my very first offroad trail a few years ago in my GF's 3rd gen 4Runner. Good times haha.
Looks like you had a good time.
I watched TowMater do a recovery there, and that was very impressive
Awesome video! Question for you? I have a very similar setup and am currently running 285’s on my stock rims. I’d like to get the same tires your running currently and am curious if those could be run without spacers? Thanks for your input!
Good question, I think you can, I would watch my wheel and tire fitting guide video for more details but I think it should work with a proper lift.
Hey man! How long did it take you to do Elephant Hill? I’m going to try it with my daughters, the amount of time spent on the trail becomes very important… lol
Hello there I have question what is the best type of solar panel to put on a fj cruiser. Just in case. Can you do a video
Any regrets on the 255 85 r17s, do u wish you did 35x10.5?
Nope the tires have been good! No complaints here!
I have a 2011 FJ cruiser and I love it .There is a Red TRD “decal “ on the hood , very large and military green . No other badges as far as what it is or type of FJ .
Is it a trail model , TRD or how do I find out. Thanks
I have a video about special edition FJ cruisers you can check out and one specifically about TRD FJ Cruisers you could watch afterwards, but likely it is just a normal FJ with a TRD decal on the hood that a previous owner added since no special editions or packages came with TRD decals for the hood.
Thinking about getting those mickey thompsons for my FJ as well! How's the treadlife so far since you've had them?
Been pretty good actually! No complaints here!
So how did the MT 255/85R17 do compared to the KO2's?? Also fantastic video work!
I actually really enjoy them! I had no issues on this trail or any others in Moab so far. And they do great in snow too, so I really have enjoyed them. Plus with them not being as wide I don’t really have rubbing issues anymore!
@@FJX2000_Productions Excellent to hear about snow. Thank you.
That rear articulation is impressive, what rear suspension are you running?
I wrote out the details in the video description 👍
Perfect, thank you!
Are you aired down at all? From the sidewalls, it looks like you are running street pressures but just walking through these obstacles.
I think I aired down to ~20 psi, but since I don't have an air compressor I don't really air down too much. But I have done trails in the past many times without airing down and it still goes great! Just makes the ride bumpier and the chances of popping a tire higher.
@@FJX2000_Productions I wish there was a way I could test the fitment of this size on my wagon. I have a gx470 with 2.5 ome lift running 285/70/17 bfg mud terrains which I have never been thrilled with. They have always felt a touch wide in the front and run my bumper during sharp impact. I do need to add extended bumpstops however.
Were the tires aired down?
Only down to 20-25 psi yeah
Hi
Helpo
Henlo
look at the stock 90's jeep waiting to pass you...
Actually they were a lovely older couple who hadn’t done the trail in about 20+ years and were more than delighted to have a “trail leader” of sorts since they were apprehensive about doing the trail alone. But ya know, “Jeep good, FJ bad” or whatever 😂
