The Altima always the pro pilot assist and all wheel drive including that this car was build on a new platform
Iagree with you👌🏻 altima
@@bhm_1901 great choice
I'd buy the Altima because it drives pretty well, all the new safety features and has got AWD for the first time in years. The Altima does pretty well, but it's a bit noisy at high speeds and don't get me started on its reliability nor its CVT.
@@brianlee5649 well thanks for your comments glad to see we are in agreement
Three years back I booked a Nissan Altima SL. Then randomly went to showroom next day and the sales guy offered me to test drive Nissan Maxima. After test drive I cancelled Altima and booked Maxima. The speed, acceleration and thrill of Maxima is something that made me prefer it over Altima.
That's what the Maxima has that the Altima does not
Unless you actually get the VC- Turbo on the Altima. It goes the same 0-60 and also get much better MPG, more room, more cargo, and 10k less.
@@UnenthusedEnthusiast that's right the VC-TURBO edition Altima is not your average regular Altima and will give a Maxima a hard time without any doubt!!!!

I’d take the Maxima any day, it’s a better made vehicle than the Altima.
Yea! I have the Altima 3.5SL!!! All the features of a luxury car without the luxury price! I also love the look of my car!!! This is my 3rd Altima!
I do like the altimas with the V6 engine
I have a 2020 Maxima SL with all the options available, sun roof with glass top, which I love, have leather seats and all the options that you can get with this model. I find that it has more power than I thought and can really go when I step on the gas. I have squealed the wheels without really trying. Love this car, handles great and is a really smooth ride. II am not sure I like a spoiler on the Altima, why have one, I am not wanting a race car. It is so much fun to drive and I can pass anyone I want, in fact recently passed an Acura going up hill and really made the guy mad as much as he tried he never caught up with me. So I guess it comes down to what you want and what you like.
hey great insight thanks for commenting those maximas climb up to speed fast
If only that Maxima had that front grill drop like the Altima!!!
Yea the Altima front grill goes so low
that is a hideous grill look on Altima, you like that ?

Maxima is a beast!
You know it is
Nothing with a CVT is a beast. My 540i M-Sport with a ZF8 transmission is a beast.
Well I certainly took a good hard look at both the 2019 Altima and the 2019 Maxima both up at the top Platinum trim. I did like the Maxima a beautiful sedan indeed but it was way more than was practical for our driving needs.
I bought the 2019 Altima Platinum ,, it was the showroom model, drop dead gorgeous it was in Sunset Drift metallic paint. This Altima was loaded, outstanding built in safety that really impressed. The Altima package came with a Winter Package, four Firestone snow tire mounted on nice alloys, the winter tires were already installed. The regular tires were Hankook 19" GT on very sharp alloys.
For the type of driving I did I felt that the 2.5 engine was more that sufficient ( which it certainly is ) and with having all wheel drive available only on the Altima that was what sold me.
Yes the Maxima was a lovely sedan but there was a $9979.00 ( Can. ) price difference and without question the Altima gave us a much bigger bang for the buck.
The Nissan Altima is no comparison to the Nissan Maxima I just bought the 2020 Nissan Maxima Sr it's a beast even with the CVT transmission it doesn't play around when you need the speed.
Certainly nor the engines cannot compete if you are looking for power and acceleration

Sorry but between the two, the Maxima is way more premium than the Altima. There’s a reason why it costs more. Besides, the CVT sounds way better in the Max than the 4-banger Altima.
The Maxima has a faux engine noise that comes through your speakers when you accelerate . Yes it is more premium but I chose the Altima based on value. Thanks for you comment
@@carsunlocked The engine is a premium, if you want to pay for that lol . I just bought an Altima SR fairly loaded. Wish 'd gotten the SV for a few things however love the Altima Sr too. Was going to look at the Maxima's but as soon as I heard 6 cyl I said never mind. Glad I didn't get it. i'm guessing in a couple of years they'll rebuild the Maxima too. To catch up and overtake the Altima's new features. We came in at a good time. The Sr has a "manual transmission" option (shift paddles) and with that IF you know how, can be quite powerful on the low end. I used to beat the sht out of people with a Toyota Corona in the 1970's.... those v8's couldn't cut my little 4. lol It's the driver more than people think.

@@collinsfriend1 The SR has a CVT transmission with fake paddle shifters. It is a 'pretend' manual. It is all fake. Just like the Maxima's 'fake' engine noise when you put it in Sport mode.
@@fredwilliams7893 and too bad Nissan put a CVT in the Maxima. Would have been far better with either a real manual 6-speed, or a real automatic transmission.

thanks for watching!
I had the 19 Altima Platinum for 3 months and dumped it. I used to have a 2015 Altima and loved that car. The problems with the new designed Altima are many. The seats are about 2 inches narrower than the prior generation, so they are not as comfortable as it always feels like you are sitting on the edges of the seat. The engine/transmission noise is louder in the new Altima, and not in a good way. The new Altima had so many creaks and rattles and it drove me nuts. My older Altima was so quiet on the road. The CVT in the new Altima seems to 'shift' through every simulated gear before you even hit 30 MPH. Also, when easing back on the accelerator to try and coast on the highway for the best fuel economy was impossible. The car would slow down immediately so I had to keep pressure on the pedal to maintain speed which affected MPG. I easily obtained over 40 MPG on the highway with my 15 Altima, but impossible with the new Altima. It was a big disappointment because I really tried to like the vehicle. I traded it for a 19 Rogue SL and so much happier. I also drove a '16 Maxima for 2 1/2 years and although I had zero issues with the CVT, the CVT was the worst part of the experience. The Maxima would be so much better with a 6-speed manual, or even a real automatic transmission. Same goes for the Altima.
Wow very interesting comments I personally have a 14 Altima and love it would thanks to your input I might hold off on upgrading
@@carsunlocked I don't know if mine was a lemon, but the new Altima is noisier than the prior generation, and the door panel rattles and creaks were aggravating. Nissan claimed there was nothing wrong with the CVT, even though it drove completely different than the Murano, Maxima, Rogue, and prior generation Altima...and I had driven all of them. I am much happier with the new Rogue SL.
Great review Christopher 👏. Keep up the good work. Although the Altima wins the contest, I'm still a fan of the Maxima.

On close examination there was no way whatsoever that the Maxima I looked at was worth 10 k. more than the Altima Platinum.

@@judahbiblehistoryisourhist5841 that's a good recommendation the Sr Maxima is pretty sleek
@@judahbiblehistoryisourhist5841 the Maxima is a noisy car with lots of squeaks and rattles, and it also 'requires' 92 octane. If he is in CA, then he will be paying a lot in gas. It is also about $10K+ more than an Altima. Maybe he doesn't need that much in a car. I drove a '16 Maxima for 2 1/2 years on a lease and I was glad to get rid of it.

This helps a lot I have a nissan sentra sv 2018 in the future would get a Altima

I have the 2019 Altima Platinum. I really like the all-LED exterior lights of the Maxima but it was thousands more and does not have: ProPilot Assist, AWD, rear automatic braking, good fuel economy, or the modern tablet style screen of the Altima. It's pretty obvious in many ways that the 2019 Maxima is the mid cycle refresh whereas the 2019 Altima is the full redesign as it has better features for less money.
Well glad to see you agree with my decision thanks for watching
I for one dislike the recent trend of that top mounted tablet. It's seems super in the way and out of place up there. I'd much prefer the inbuilt screen. But besides that I think the Altima kills it in everything but speed and power.
But the maxima got heated & cooling seats , that good Bose 11 speakers system, 300 horsepower 🐴🐴🐴

It depends on which one you can afford. If you have enough money to buy a Maxima, I’d still buy the Maxima.
no pro pilot assist
Went with the Altima Platinum for the reasons you stated, the pro pilot, all wheel drive, and just more value for the money. I'm sure the Maxima will be back on top with updated tech after the next generation is released.
Nissan is barely moving Maximas off the lots. Furthermore, Nissan is trimming ten percent of the lineup over the next few years, Maxima is likely not in Nissan's future investment or development plans, so will probably be cancelled.
@@travelseatsyellowlab they would never cancel the max
@@TheShootersBay Despite ever decreasing market share of large sedans, I hope not. There's talk of the next generation being an EV, but I believe in its current sedan form, it's difficult to go anywhere else with it.
I am sure it will but for now it looks like a 1999 car lol for old people all chromed out lol
@@TheShootersBay They said the same about Pontiac Grand Prix but they discontinued ir. I bet it would be really nice if they brought it back
So when you say Altima isn't a high accelerator. Would it still be pretty good at by passing slower road drivers?
I do want something that has that bit of OOF in the speed from time to time. In terms of realiability which one requires less maintenance?
yes it has enough power I was simply talking in contrast to the maxima
I think I prefer the interior of the Altima, to be honest. People equate "business" of the dash with style, but I think the interior of the Altima is both practical *and* minimalist, gives it a very modern look. It doesn't look like a damn spaceship control center with a million buttons. The climate control is distinctly separate from the entertainment, and everything else is up above. But I guess the real deciding factor would be - What *can't* the Altima do with its minimalist design that the Maxima can with all its controls? If the answer is none, then why bother with 100 buttons.
great comments glad we are in agreement
I have a 16 maxima. At the time, the Altima had no winning over the Altima. I think, this year, if they gave the maxima pro pilot assist, and the Shield 360, it would have taken it. Pro pilot is a really nifty safety feature.
the hydraulic steering in the maxima makes it not compatible for the pro pilot something i wish it had as well
What?
If your in it just for looks, then the Altima is very sexy and much cheaper with more safety features. But if you care about performance at all, its not even close.
thanks for watching and providing your insight!

There is a video where the narrator tackles the dicey issue why the Nissan brand has come upon hard times in the automotive world for a number of reasons, but dwelling mostly (no Ghosn discussion which frankly is huge) the large drop in yearly sales for all nameplates under the brand. I own a '13 Maxima SV...an okay car for the era back then. The styling is actually cleaner and less offensive or radical than either of these units, and I like it better. As one advances thru their senior years, the things that turned them on car-wise are out the window. Exhaust noise, acceleration, sharp looks out and in, sound system quality, etc. are all mostly irrelevant, in fact even annoying. It's the little things about the car, the engine noise, artificial exhaust note, cabin road noise at speed, the lack of grip handles in the headliner panel at all 4 points, bad reflection points on the front windshield from the dash design, the idiosyncrasies of the CVT, the high compression V6 with premium unleaded mandate, etc. etc. that are wearing and "driving" me into looking at other brands and nameplates for an upgrade/replacement.....Cadillac, Jaguar, Mercedes, Lincoln. We're after smooth, quiet performance with maximum interior comfort...could care less about Bluetooth, Apple Car Play, the size and intuitability of the data interface screen, etc. Yes, interior materials and feel make a difference. Yes, the new Altima seats are supposed to be great, and that is a big plus to me.....but a 4 cylinder powerplant as the only option. Toyota kept the V6. Mazda, Honda and Nissan are giving up on it; that's unfortunate.....4-bangers are harsh, have higher maintenance needs, run hotter, and make more noise especially when stressed with A/C other accessory usage in warm weather. Whether this guy cares to admit or not, the big picture here is that Nissan has taken a mostly big step backward by going along with its automotive peers...for a big segment of its customer base. Maybe they just ought to make trucks, jeeps and station wagons like the other companies for the new, younger car buyer....LOL
Thanks so much for your comments i do appreciate it very much. I agree with you the Nissan brand is going down Hill. Focus has been lost from making a high quality and reliable vehicle and shifted to other aspects
@@carsunlocked I would upgrade to a new sedan but the product for older, more discriminating buyers is Infiniti and their styling sucks....over priced and also heavily relies on old technology.. like the dual screen stack in the Q60T. Just very disappointing.....

I need to agree and disagree here. yes an awd is fantastic to have but a fwd with a good sett of snow tires will suffice
@@carsunlocked Where I live even with the best Snow tires there are some hills that when they are untouched your just not going to get up without AWD.
Am I the only one who prefers the Altima’s interior and layout? Other than the diamond seats and privacy curtain it’s not as appealing to me.
hey your allowed your own opinion both interiors are gorgeous
Altima is a want to be low budget Maxima just get the Maxima because it looks better drives better don't kid yourself don't cut yourself short the Maxima is a better buy the only thing the Altima got on a Maxima is the price other than that Maxima is the way to go
I see where your coming from but I disagree Altima has more value imo
Easy. *MAXIMA*
Next.
These videos are amazing .. Just wish you could use *miles* instead of Kilometers ..
Hey thanks for the positive comments. It's tough because everything is in kms here but I'll try to use MPG
Little cousin? Little brother** who just happens to be taller lol
i guess when you look at it that way you are right
@@carsunlocked I really did not expect a response lol. But my next car will definitely be a maxima
Great choice my guy
I have the 2018 Altima but I love it. Hopefully next year I'll get a maxima
Hey that's great the 18 Altima is fantastic. Let me know when you get your Maxima and make sure to check out my Maxima content
This is a very good car
thanks for the comments
christopher sounds like walter white jr.

Altima viutiful
Máxima is the best yet car hands dwn , you get what you pay for , Altima is a great gas car but the maxima is the flagship and the Altima is way behind
Thanks for you comments my guy glad
Try getting up a hill in the snow with a Maxima lol and it doesn't even have pro pilot assist
Nissan maxima for life
hey thanks for the comments !
Ur nuts I have both maxima hands dwn . U got it with size but certainly n comfort wise
The maxima is phenomenal don't get me wrong I just feel there is more value to the Altima
You messed up the thumbnail
Wow your right I did
Listen to what he said… go to 1:56 he says, “ our Nissan msrp $35,098 and our maxima msrp for $45,900.” I thought they both were Nissan? Lol :P and yea maybe should have waited to make this review when he didn’t have a stuffy nose. He is cute though haha :P
thanks for watching
Maxima is 10 times better that Altima
I some aspects yes thanks for commenting
Great presentation. The Maxima seems redundant now. They should just offer the Altima with the option of the v6
thanks so much for watching and commenting my friend. Here in Canada they got rid of the V6 now only a 4 banger is offered in the altima
New altima is OK but new maxima is 👌
Maxima's are sick
You Said CVT transmission, CVT means no buy.
That's all Nissan's my friend
I luv the cvt, never had issues
the Altima has 188 Hp and 180 ft torque
yes
The Altima does not come close to the Maxima in styles and performance. Nice car but different level.
thanks for the input
I want a new maxima so bad but so expensive
thanks for commenting start saving your pennies
Nah what trim did he review ?I have all the features with the Platinum maxima
both cars were Platinum models
Really?? 🧐
