Just to clarify, if you are to purchase the SV one lower trim than the SR, you can include the premium package and you CAN get leather seats, in black or a beautiful QUILTED TAN leather, which is what I purchased a few days ago and I’m in love! You also get an 8 inch touchscreen display if you purchase the premium package in the SR or SV which he didn’t mention any of this info for some odd reason... the Sentra SV with premium package is the way to go in my opinion, check it out!

Surprisingly my Altima MPG numbers are almost identical with the Sentra. I typically get 38 to 40 mpg with my Altima on the highway and 32 mpg city. My average according to the car computer is 35.2 mpg. With the Sentra the average was typically around 36.5 mpg according to the car's computer. Given how much bigger, heavier and more powerful the Altima is it's mpg is impressive and was not expecting that. I recently drove a 2019 latest generation top of the line Altima Platinum which is the model featured in this review and is a bit more comfortable than my last gen 2018. Amazing car for the price. I'd recommend people that are in the market for sentra premium to spend a bit more and look for an altima on a big sale.

Great review. Quick question though. Aside from price and fuel mileage, which would you recommend overall in all aspects, the 2020/2021 Nissan Altima or the 2020/2021 Nissan Sentra. I ask because I heard that the previous generation Sentra had a lot of transmission/mechanical and reliability issues. Personally I would prefer a Altima, since in my opinion and experience they were/are very reliable. I had a 09 Altima SL, for about 7-8 years, and in all those years I never had any significant issues or problems with that Altima, and only just basic and typical car repairs/maintenance repairs, such as brake pad/rotor changes, but nothing serious. With that being said, I think the new Sentra looks very nice and similar to the new Altima, at least appearance wise at a significantly lower price. However I am bit hesitant on giving the new Sentra a try and buy, due to its past generations mechanical and reliability issues as I don't want to be stuck with a lemon. Any personal insights, before I choose between the two? Thanks.
thanks for the inquiry. I am in a similar place as you as I have owned a Nissan Altima for 6 years and have not had any issues. I also really like the new design of the sentra and do feel the engine will be more reliable however cannot guarantee that as only time will tell. I have always been a fan of the Altima but I also drove the Sentra for several months and was super happy with the demo
@@carsunlocked Thanks for replying. Yeah, I mean I would normally would just go with the Altima, however the new Sentra looks as or almost as good as the current Altima, and at a signficantly lower price. Anyhow, if I do go for the Sentra, I would probably go with the Sentra SR with the premium package. As for the Altima, I would hands down go with the Altima SL, however because of the significantly higher price and being on a slight budget, I think I will have to unfortunately pass and go with a Sentra SR with the premium package, and just look at it as a fully loaded baby Altima lol. I mean honestly I am not too much of a fan of the base model Altima S, as I guess it's because I used to own a Altima SL, and it would just feel weird and sort of downgrading without all or almost all the bells and whistles. Unless, in your opinion and expertise, the base model Altima S would be suffice and just as good as the Altima SL. By the way, is there any differences pros or cons in all aspects, on the Altima SL Fwd and the Altima SL Awd, aside from price of course? Which would you recommend of the both or is there not really a need or difference in the Awd, since its a sedan. Thanks, and sorry for asking.
ooo here in Canada there is no Altima fwd so it is hard to compare. depending on where you live you will want to get snow tires either way so I don't think it matters
@@carsunlocked ok, thanks. One last question, have you done a video on the 2020/2021 Nissan Versa SR? If so, what are your insights on it? If not, can you do a video on it when you get the chance? I prefer the Altima SL, however I think at least at the present moment that won't be possible, since I don't think I qant to downgrade to a base model Altima S, unless in your opinion you don't see a complete or significant difference of it when compared to the SL, aside from the premium features of course. Anyway, I think I might I will not take the risk with the Sentra for now at least, and just go with a 2020/2021 Nissan Versa SR instead, which is also significantly less than both the Sentra and Altima. I have someone in my family who has a 2018 Nissan Versa sedan, and so far so good. I think I might give it a try, and maybe down the road save up for a loaded Altima SL.
not to bark at the new sentra, but my fam have a 2013 sentra and its 3rd transmission, thank God they fix at their cost. that's a shame, new Sentra looking really good
I was going to consider getting the new Sentra. Then Hyundai released the all new 2021 Elantra at the L.A. Auto Show a few weeks ago. The new Elantra is polarizing with more tech features. Wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay. Digital key access with a key card or on your phone. 10.2 inch infotainment and digital guage screen all connected in one glass like an Audi or Mercedes Benz. The coupe design in the back with the LED connected tail lights are mesmerizing. Although design cues are from the new Sonata, it still has it own unique design to distinguish the two. The Altima and Sentra looks too much alike. I was a fan of Nissan. But their CVT engines are very crappy and unreliable. And the company is facing bankruptcy. So don't know what the future holds for Nissan. Overall, I choose the new 2021 Hyundai Elantra N-Line over the new Sentra when it's released this fall.
Wow the new Elantra does sound great. Curious the price difference. We can't compare the n line to the Sentra. Hopefully they come out with a nismo Sentra to compete
@@carsunlocked Nope, that's a different comparison as far as powertrain. But the Elantra Limited is definitely can compete with the Sentra SR. Pricing is not out yet, but with all the standard features including wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay, it's a great contender! Don't know why Sentra doesn't offer wireless phone charger or embedded navigation. That's my only gripe about it
If you really like power just go for the maxima or the altima turbo, the 2.5L can pull but real power is the V6 its just sad they left the altima V6 i really liked it 💔
@@carsunlocked Can you get the sv sentra with quilted leather? The SV sentra with the premium package cost about $200 more than the sentra SR with the premium package
Yup. My 2020 Sentra SV Premium has the beautiful quilted leather you can usually only get on the Maxima. I love it! When I saw the quilted leather it won me over. I was considering the SR Premium. Glad I got the SV instead.
Competitors like Toyota have huge physical differences between the Camry and Corolla, Optima and Forte or Hyundai with their Sonata and Elantra. But Nissan decided they'll make the same body style. Nissan's sales won't be as good as the Optima/Sonata, Camry, Accord and Mazda3 Sedans because their Sentra will steal the shine due to the pricing from the Altima ($10,000 more for the same look).
the altima 0-60 is almost 10 seconds while the sentra 0-60 is 8 actually so even with more power in the altima you're not getting "better acceleration" as the video stated
@@carsunlocked Yeah I always have the mindset of paying it off but I never quite get there 🤣 I'm looking into maybe a lease for that reason just wasn't sure if I would absolutely hate going from Maxima to Sentra or if the perks of a lower payment plus a new car every so often would counterbalance. I'm ok with always having a car payment
The Shooter's Bay Lol, all the major reviewers give Altima lower reliability ratings and felt that then driving experience was lackluster. I also don’t know why you have to be offensive to me. If you feel you want to get Altima, get Altima. Why put others down? Very mature of you.
Altima, no question. I'm about ready to buy a 2020 Altima this coming Saturday. Can't wait! One suggestion.....talk more about the "Zero Gravity Seats"! This is the main reason I want this car. I'm almost 62 and have serious back problems. I can drive this car and have absolutely NO PAIN while driving it. My current car which is almost paid off is 8 years old (bought it used. It's a 2012), has become incredibly painful to drive. It's in great condition and I'm giving it to my kid. So.....PLEASE mention these seats. They're in the Sentra and other models too. Only Nissan has them. Look up the video on "Zero Gravity Seats". They're INCREDIBLE!!!!
thanks for the comments, you will definitely enjoy the zero gravity seats. I mention them a lot in all my altima videos so feel free to check those out. I did not go into much detail because both cars have them in this video.you will experience less fatigue and sore ness
Sentra it is... you are definitely bias... Sentra is the baby Maxima... with this new redesigned there's NO need to buy an Altima unless you filthy rich. This Sentra bad boy is fully loaded... talking Nonsense about the altima feeling more upscale inside get the premium package on the sentra and you get real leather to sit yourself and boyfriend. God bless. Nice video.
Buy neither....Nissan uses these CVT transmission on some of it's model (don't know if it's all)which breaks down after about 70000 - 100000 miles which has to be replaced ($3000-$4000)cost. And it always breaks down after warranty or car notes paid off. I'll stay away from any car with CVT transmission
Which one would you buy???

Sentra
Shaniece Nichols Altima

I think I might give it a try, and maybe down the road save up for a loaded Altima SL.
yea i did film the VERSA SR check it out on my channel. I plan to do a Versa vs sentra comparison to help educate consumers on the difference
not to bark at the new sentra, but my fam have a 2013 sentra and its 3rd transmission, thank God they fix at their cost.
that's a shame, new Sentra looking really good
thats tough
Yes Sir
That's my only gripe about it
🖤Nissan Twins🖤
Thanks for comments
Is the CVT still crappy?
If you really like power just go for the maxima or the altima turbo, the 2.5L can pull but real power is the V6 its just sad they left the altima V6 i really liked it 💔
great info
I thought the top of the line sentra was the sv with the premium package that gives you the quilted leather seats.
Where abouts r u? Here in Canada it's the Sentra Sr
@@carsunlocked United states.
@@0akk1 Sentra has the quilted leather? Where do you live
They practically look like the same car
basically cousins
the altima 0-60 is almost 10 seconds while the sentra 0-60 is 8 actually so even with more power in the altima you're not getting "better acceleration" as the video stated
I disagree drive them both back to back and you will understand what I mean here. Altima definitely has better acceleration
if you learn the curve you can get th Altima close to 7-7.5
if the Sentra had more horsepower, I'd have totally been for it... I dunno why they didn't put the Altima engine in it... gets the same gas mileage.
well then no one would buy the altima
@@carsunlocked 😂 the Sentra already outsells the Altima. Some people would like more space though
How about Nissan Maxima. Well I would go with Maxima, a much upscale car.
Great choice my man
*Sentra SR*
Sentra SR with premium package if I can find one this late in the year
the 2021 should be arriving soon
For 10 thousand dollars more.. The Sentra seems a much more intelligent buy.
There is definitely value there
You can get a 8in infotainment system in the Sentra
Can you review 2020 nissan Altima 2.5s
Altima is a luxurious car.. it's built to cross continents with comfort and power.
yes sir
The Altima definitely. It's more auto than the Sentra, in all respects.
thanks for commenting my friend
Sentra looks and its a better choice in my opinion. Great review!! 🙂
Christian Garcia don’t do it
thanks for comment christian dont listen to the haters
Very similar but price have to go to Sentra 2020 !!
great choice and love the name 3
Keep my 2018 Maxima 85k miles or buy the sentra for a lower payment? 😬
keep your maxima payments suck
3 more years left on the loan. Something like $410 a month. Will have close to 140k miles when it's paid off.
@@matthewc4451 seems like you do a lot of trying but I will always have payments if u keep trading your car in
@@carsunlocked Yeah I always have the mindset of paying it off but I never quite get there 🤣 I'm looking into maybe a lease for that reason just wasn't sure if I would absolutely hate going from Maxima to Sentra or if the perks of a lower payment plus a new car every so often would counterbalance. I'm ok with always having a car payment
@@matthewc4451 awesome let me know what you decide
Depends on the space you need.Me.ill take that Altima
I'd take the Altima as well
the new sentra is so nice
thanks so much for commenting
The front end of both cars look the same or similar
they are cousins
I wonder which model has better reliability prediction.
I would say the Altima for sure
@@carsunlocked That's pretty discouraging! Altima has a terrible reliability score
itself...
@@mixailonemaga1253 this is a new altima its reliability has not been proven yet! You are living in the past grow up!!
The Shooter's Bay Lol, all the major reviewers give Altima lower reliability ratings and felt that then driving experience was lackluster. I also don’t know why you have to be offensive to me. If you feel you want to get Altima, get Altima. Why put others down? Very mature of you.
@@mixailonemaga1253 lol you tell em brother
I will buy the Sentra
Thanks for your comments Dave definitely a lot of value in the Sentra
U know Mexico Nissan dealership Sentra come with paddle shifter...🤔
ohhh thats pretty sweet
God bless. Nice video.
I like the Altima more, it is more car than the Sentra. In security the Altima is better. That's what I'm looking for, security.
Yes a bit more value too. Thanks for your comments
Altima only lasts 60,000 miles until major repair, the Sentra is way better in my opinion!
LIKE THE SENTRA
great choice
Altima altima altima
Hey thanks for your comment glad we agree
Not a fan that they looks so similar wish the Altima had the Sentras head and tail lights
They are pretty similar
Buy neither....Nissan uses these CVT transmission on some of it's model (don't know if it's all)which breaks down after about 70000 - 100000 miles which has to be replaced ($3000-$4000)cost. And it always breaks down after warranty or car notes paid off. I'll stay away from any car with CVT transmission
So sorry u feel that way sir. Hopefully u have success with your transmission
Sentra has a better design. Altima should’ve fallowed
The Altima was made first or was the sentra s redesign that followed the Altima
Hands down Altima looks better Sentra to small ‼️
great choice my friend thanks so much for commenting
Sentra looks way better. But Altima is better
did u delete your other comment
@@carsunlocked Yes, I said that your voice is annoying
@@princeduties2991 sorry I feel that way mate
Anyone else think he looks like Flynn from Breaking Bad, I mean give him some crouches
your not the first to say that
Sentra all day
Which one? Neither. They have Jatco CVT transmissions that will die on you at 80-120k miles
Well thanks for watching
They look like the Versa. Nissan designers doesn't have imagination.
They streamline a lot of things that's for sure
Altima because my mom has one and there pretty good cars
glad to see we are in agreement
