***Feeling behind in life is a normal thing... In fact, comparing yourself to others is natural to check our progress since everything in life is relative. However, I argue that you are NOT falling behind in life. The comparisons should stop at comparisons, and nothing more than that. Here is my story and how I came to the conclusion that this isn't as much of a big deal as I thought. Ask yourselves these questions:
- Are you really falling behind?
- What does falling behind even mean?
- Does it even matter in the end?
- Are you even running the right race?
- What is your purpose?
- Are you letting someone else dictate your pace?
- You envy someone's results... but would you be who they are?
Note: If you really love what you're doing, there's no need to feel this way! Keep going!

Interesting video, Martin! I think there is this idea that we have to have our life plan figured out by age 18, but it's a bit non-sensical. Most people haven't experienced much at age 18, and how in the world can you know if you would enjoy a career if you haven't tried it. This is a common experience among pre-meds, where they may not enjoy the process of getting into medical school but expect that they would love practicing medicine
"it's a bit non-sensical" --- this is true... "what do you want to do when you get older?" kinda gets to you at some point haha! I do agree that there's no way to know if I'd enjoy the career path, but I think I have found something else that gives me purpose right now, so I'm putting this path on hold for now. felt this. not enough ppl talk about the feeling of falling behind, the shame associated with it. "premeds" love racing, gets too much sometimes. its ok to take it a step a time, even half a step at a time.

you're definitely not following behind tho, the only reason a lot of us have started studying for the big exams is because:
1. we know where we want to go
2. we have no idea where we want to go but are doing it cuz others are
giving yourself time to know what you really want to do is WISE + starting your next academic/professional journey a year or 2 later is negligible in the long run so props to u for recognizing that!

Are you thinking of switching majors maybe? Also if you don't want to continue further education after this, what job options are there for only a Bachelors in science? My friend is considering a similar path but I noticed she was very burnt out this year (gr12) and I want to support her to the best of my ability
If I'm being honest, I don't think I'm going to switch majors (or even want to get a bachelor's in science, so idk if you'd want to take advice from me LOL) I'm not looking for a traditional job, sorry
