great vid! subscribed. the only thing i'd change is that it would have been cool to see you plow through the first dungeon with all of the additional gear
And the first dungeon: when you enter it, leave and re-enter and that locked door will disappear! This will save you one key. It's the easiest glitch in the game.
I mean, in the first Zelda you could technically visit all seven other dungeons before going to the first dungeon, but that really doesn't sound interesting. Well, when you get to Link's Awakening, you can have some fun with the screen-warp trick. I used to try to find out how much of the game I could clear without ever getting the sword.
Exactly but you cannot beat level 6. The dungeon boss (the "spider") can only be beaten by the arrow and you need the bow from dungeon 1. So you can only grab 6 of those 7 heart containers from dungeon (Level) 2-8.
Yeah, that one is blocking the door for the magic key. So in dungeon 8 you can at least pick up: the magic book, heart container and triforce piece. That magic key is similar to have a lot of keys. You can buy keys and you can use the glitch in dungeon 1 to remove the locked door in the first room. So you don't miss a lot by not having the magic key :)
Whenever I pick up LOZ to play it, this is exactly what I do, except for the power bracelet. I pick that up after getting the ladder in D4. It's fun kicking all ass regionally available in those first 4 dungeons.
The bomb drop isn't entirely random. If you kill 10 enemies without taking damage, the 10th enemy that dies (if it is an enemy type that can drop bombs) will have a forced bomb drop.
No, that’s incorrect. You have to kill the 10th enemy with a bomb. It doesn’t matter whether the enemy can drop booms or not, just that they *can* drop something. For example, red octorocks cannot drop bombs normally, and blue octorocks can on certain kill counts. If either one is the 10th enemy killed (with no damage) with a bomb, then it will force a bomb drop. If either one is killed with anything else, then a 5 rupee will drop. If the 10th enemy is something that cannot drop items (such as keese or gels), and is killed with a bomb, then that forced bomb drop gets stored and saved until the next item dropping enemy is killed. So if the 10th enemy is a keese killed with a bomb (nothing will drop), then you go kill a stalthos with the sword, the stalthos will drop a forced bomb.
@@pyrefox7 You have the right of it. I had the 10 kill forced bomb drop rule and the 8 kill 50/50 bomb drop rule blended together in my head for some reason.
@@-Keith- there are two counters. The consecutive counter is as pyrefox describes above. There's another coutner where the number just cycles through 1 through 0 of all enemies regardless of getting hit. If you kill a bomb dropping enemy on 1, 6, or 8 that's when it can drop a bomb (something like 38% chance of a drop). Speedrunners will keep that counter in their heads too for the random chances. The consecutive counter preempts that with the forced 5 rupee/bomb. 16 in a row drops a fairy, but that can be skipped if the 16th enemy doesn't drop anything.
