What an education thank you. Just stopped playing blades I’m 50. Got the P790 with 780 f4 shafts. You’ve made my mind up for 3 & 4 iron replacement. Shot options nailed it for me..Boom
95 mph driver swing. 5-6 iron in old set maybe 5 yards between them. Replaced both with the D 5 iron and really like it. 165-170 carry. Hate fairways woods and hybrids. Kbs 85 steel shaft
6:05 Your intuition regarding offset was correct. TaylorMade's web site says the offset for the UDI is 3.2 mm and the DHY 3.0 mm. Thanks for the review. DHY is my choice.
Love how quick you do new products, how fast and simple and informative your videos are but I do miss the GCquad view. Keep up the great work! I share your videos to the buddies all the time
I bought a Titleist hybrid last year. Never really got on with it. Probably hit 1 good shot in 10 with it. Bought a 5 wood (Wilson D7) and love it. What's that about? Would a utility iron be better for me?
Depending on your preference. I've hated the fairway woods. Personally I think the longer shafts don't help me. I love how the 3 iron hits. So I went and got the Sim UDI 2i. And WOW I increased my driving yards by 25 without even trying.
Love these but the only thing that confuses me is that on all the new Taylormade range like the p770s they only have the T logo and not the whole word Taylormade stamped into the iron like these do. Makes me think that they actually made these a while ago and only just released them... 🤷♂️
11-13 handicapper, great when hit on the sweet spot, but miss it and it goes no where…. And boy you feel dumb. Lol A 2 hybrid Sim adjustable 15.5 to 19.5 I believe , that’s the ticket for the 215-245 range
Ty Michael great job as usual !! I just wondering my swing speed with an Iron is in the mid 80s would these club work with that slower swing speed ???? Or stick with hybrid / fairway wood???
You can probably bend them 2 degrees either way, but I think he was referring to the lack of an adjustable screw/shaft like a driver typically would have nowadays
@@murrat14 Mike said that he'd prefer it if the DHY 'in a slightly stronger loft' 7:45....I was referring to that comment he made. Just informing him that can be done at point of order by specifying 1*/2* strong....
Sam Murray pretty much all of the reviewers have mentioned the Sim UDI and DHY are replacements for the GAPR range. The GAPR did have adjustability in the hosel where as the Sims have not. Apparently it’s better for a fitter as the Sims can be bent +/- 2 degrees to suit the individual.
Certainly not for the average golfer ,, " SIM UDI Utility Iron " ,, I saw these ridiculously overpriced golf clubs at my local GolfTown. When I looked at this club it reminded me of the days before hybrids. Funny though, you never see the average guy who might play 2-3 games a month with an 18 handicap doing a demo and testing these clubs. The average golfer would be miles ahead by totally ignoring the hype and marketing behind these clubs and buy a nice hybrid which by miles will be much easier to hit. By the way, this particular golf club ( TaylorMade SIM UDI Utility Iron ) sells for $ 379.66 ( Can. tax in ). A great quality Hybrid with a good shaft and similar loft ( Tour Edge ) sells for $ 174.97 ( Can. tax in ).
munnjean .... Problem being hybrids are designed to get the ball airborne.. It’s an impossibility to “power” them low.. With these clubs you can drive the ball lower.. So into wind, or when trying to keep low under overhanging branches they win every time..
What an education thank you.

The DHY suprised me too! I put it straight in the bag. Love the carry distance.
Is it still in the bag a year after? I just got one brand new for 73$ and been tempted to break the seal and put it I. The bag
Just got a DHY can't believe your dispersion, it is pretty awesome. Thank for the vids

I just tried these out side by side and was really suprised. I was able to launch the udi higher then the dhy with a heavier shaft

Thanks for the review. Distances are definitely jacked up, doesn't correlate with the club speed.
Was the DHY easier to hit and launch than the Cobra you liked a lot?
I'm still gaming Adams dhy 18deg.Very similar! Can still pick these up for a bargain. Also has a bit of roll on the face for more forgiveness.
Hi Michael! Would the DHY work for a mid - high handicap who doesn’t really like using a hybrid and prefers a 5 iron off the tee
Yes!
Michael Newton Golf thank you!

Are you able to compare the distance with the gapr range so I know if they go further for the increased price?
"got the pins out" - instantly hit like on the video haha
I'm gaming a gapr lo 2 as we speak. Looking for something with a bit more forgiveness, I think the DHY might be for me.
All-in on the DHY, easier and longer, got both 2 and 4
hit UDI and DHY today, DHY super easy to hit, ball speed 148.8, my best with my U85/recoil was 140mph, I'm getting the DHY no doubt.
What your take on the sim dhy vs the Titleist 510 1 iron?
Welcome back brother!!
Love these but the only thing that confuses me is that on all the new Taylormade range like the p770s they only have the T logo and not the whole word Taylormade stamped into the iron like these do. Makes me think that they actually made these a while ago and only just released them... 🤷♂️
Yes, but these do match the design of the sim irons though.
What differences are you finding between trackman and gc quad?
Think I'm gonna get myself a DHY! Cheers
Will it replace ur srixon?
I thought the same thing, looked like less offset.
Would the udi work for a decent Ball striking mid handicapper
Either, depends on if you wanting a lower or higher flight
Michael Newton Golf I’m a lynx golfer so definitely lower
we have very simular stats with this club! interesting
i chose the dhy because the forgivness is unbelievable. legit terrible shank duck hook still goes atleast 200 off the tee lol
11-13 handicapper, great when hit on the sweet spot, but miss it and it goes no where…. And boy you feel dumb. Lol

yes would work, DHY would be better out of the two but maybe a good idea to test against a hybrid.
I may be wrong mate...But I think the lofts can be adjusted +/- 2* either way.....But don't fully quote me on that.....
I believe that the heads are soft enough to bend them +/- 2 degrees
You can probably bend them 2 degrees either way, but I think he was referring to the lack of an adjustable screw/shaft like a driver typically would have nowadays

You can bend the loft but I was actually referring to the lie change 👍
Don't look like they quite match the performance of the Titleist U500 /510

I find the utility irons way easier to hit than a hybrid. Depends on individual swings!
I like GC quad data better
P790 UDI wins imo.
Those are some ugly clubs don’t look appealing to me for some reason
