I have the original SIM UDI 3 iron and it is definitely my most consistent club off the tee. I’m glad they brought a 4 iron into the range. The could definitely be my next purchase with how much I love my UDI 3 iron.
I play golf in Texas. We have a lot of hard, dry fairways, and a lot of high winds, which can create a links golf sort of feel to our courses. I have never liked hybrids, I just struggle to hit them effectively, but I love long irons for their workability. The SIM UDI made its way into my bag a while ago, and it’s been one of my favorite clubs for these hot, dry, windy days. It helps me keep it low and in play, and I find it gives me a lot of the options people look for in hybrids. The question now is: do I buy the stealth now that it’s out, or would the upgrade be so marginal that it’s not worth it?
They would do for low handicap golfers but for the mid to high handicap like me I don’t think they would be as forgiving as some other alternative clubs.
Nice! I wonder how much technology Taylormade got from their purchase of Adams golf a few years back? I've been using the Adams A2 hybrids 2 thru 6 in my bag for years and they remind me a little bit of these new Taylormade clubs. Although I'm sure these are an improvement if you're on a budget the old Adams hybrids are worth a try.
I still have a Adams Pro dhy in 18 degrees, I use it as a driving iron when It's windy and it works great. I'm sure the taylormade ones are just updated versions of the Adams product. It's even called dhy!
Topped my driver off the tee yesterday on a par 4 hole. Pulled out my Titleist 4 hybrid and put my second shot on the green, just below the flag (still two putted for par). Not sure these driving irons will be replacing the hybrids in my bag.
Question: I got fitted for irons with -0.50 shaft adjustment. This club with the shaft I want is standard at 40.25 length. Would I also lower this -0.50 or not because of the distance lost using it off the tee?
I've tried clubs of this type, but they're really only for players like James who swing them 100 mph+ and strike it pretty close to middle. 17º of loft is my 4-wood, and I'll stay with that and my 7-wood.
Already gaming the SIM DHY 3 & 4 as long iron replacements. Started out with the 3 and later replaced my p760 4i as well. The 3 works well together with the next club in the bag which is a strong 5w at 17 deg.
Morning from Bama! Great video with impeccable timing. I was just telling my golfing partner how I want to test a driving iron. After this Im going straight to the range to try a few out. Thanks JR!
So are they a 5 wood or a 2 hybrid replacement maybe a 3 wood? Definitely haven’t wrap my mind around what they replace in the bag. I carry a 3 wood 2 hybrid and a 4 hybrid.
Just so you know, the way your camera and shot tracer are set up it always looks like you just hit a massive push right. Not being picky but when you say position A and we see way right.
Great content as usual JR. I recently purchased the P790's after a fitting at Club Champion and have seen my Handicap drop from 30 to 25.9 over the last few weeks. I don't think I'm ready for a driving Iron...but I love these review videos. Thanks for all you do!
James could swing a shovel and hit a golf ball further than I could swinging a 2 iron. Horses for courses I'm 24hc and light years away from hitting stingers with a 2iron. But nice review for the scratch golfer
I have the Sim DHY 3 iron and when I hit it off the screws goes for miles but the one thing that really annoys me is being a left hander Taylor Made didn't make a 2 iron
They look awesome I’ve still got an original gapr mid and although I want to change it for a UDI it just so reliable and easy to hit. As you always say it’s not how good is your good it’s how bad is your bad and the DHY or in my case gapr mid is always on top.
Nice review and very helpful. The only thing I would add is that you're a higher handicapper with your shots annoyingly going all over the place and as a result, your golf clubs end up getting thrown in the lake, not to invest too much money in expensive clubs until you manage to consistently keep the ball on the grass. That said, it's a bit of a risk reward conundrum given that the club head on the taylor made is slightly heavier than normal and you will get a much bigger splash when the club hits the water which is always quite satisfying. Good luck. Johnny Muscles.
I have the previous version of this club, the SIM DHY, and the verdict is still out. When i hit it on the screws, it’s absolutely balls-out monstrously long, but it has been a love/hate relationship so far. In its defense, the club it replaced (Mizuno mph4 2 iron) had been in my bag for 7-8 years, and it was wonderful….my go-to off the tee for many years, my money maker. But the Mizuno was only good (for me) off the tee, and useless off the fairway or out of the rough. That’s the reason for the DHY replacing it, more usefulness.
I bought the 4 and 5 last year… great in bad lies… but the ball flight is very high… while smooth landing on the green… really not like it in winds! I will put a wood 7 in my bag…
I'd take that DHY all day... matches my Launch Pads and perfect loft for a driving iron for a high handicapper. How about sending it to a bad golfer to review for you James???? 😉
I actually just don't get these. I'm 60 and a smaller guy at 14hdcp. I can't get anything above 7 iron in the air which kills distance. Probably all just due to low club head speed so how am I supposed to get these in the air. Next club out of the bag is the 4-iron and it might be replaced with 7 wood.
Lazy of taylormade tbh, they're identical to the sim udi and dhy with stealth on them now. The sim udi is a weapon though! But it cannot get my P790 3i out the bag, I love it far too much.
Nah, small head fairway woods from the early 2000's are superior in every way to the modern long paddle flat leading edge hybrid thingies - for me, at least they are 😂 - the old woods have a rounded sole/leading edge that you can really catch the ball with. Everything now seems designed for the hard mat at the driving range - Adjusting lie angle might be the only drawback...but not for me, I cut shafts to length where they're ' just right ' :)
These look like iron hybrids of 10 or 15 (?) years ago or so. They are repeating what used to be in the market back then. Maybe they are better now, but the idea is the same.
The DHY is by all measures a better club, BUT and a big but, image/ego is unfortunately still a large portion of golf equipment choice. A club that’s easier to hit but is still usable elsewhere, vs one that is a little thinner. Come on people.
Thats a stigma you must get over if you ever want to play your best golf. I draw the line at a chipper but short of that i could care less what ppl think. I pulled 3w and 3h out this yr for a 5w and 4h and both are far superior for my game and save me strokes. They are both incredibly easy to hit aa well. Im 87% fairways with 5 wood off tee.
James, as a high handicapper would love to see the DHY in Foxys hands to see the difference between the cobra hybrid!

Great review! I admit I lol'd at the ball-flight graphic @6:38 and the response that followed.

I agree, I'm a high handicapper and I love my Wilson 2i utility, highly reccomend it if you don't like a hybrid/wood

@@paulmcgee1867 I don't remember that one but I remember Adams Speedline. Never got to try them however.

James what did you find in distance between all the dhy . So if I want a 3 and a 2 are they to close

The dhy sounds like the upgraded version of the gapr but without the loft adjustment. Nice review.👍

But James we had these clubs, they called the one two and 3 irons
Also we have hybrids
@@paulmcgee1867 Their longest is the 4 iron. 5, now with the newest release....but a great set of clubs , my gamers!
So they repainted the SiM DHY and UDi? Don’t blame them, I have both of the sim versions and they were pretty solid.
Which were repaints of the gapr mid.
I'm liking some of the new camera angles and and stuff you new camera operator is doing a good job
Morning from Bama! Great video with impeccable timing. I was just telling my golfing partner how I want to test a driving iron. After this Im going straight to the range to try a few out. Thanks JR!
No. 2 is 2 iron udi. Is it just the UDI p790 with a different design?
So are they a 5 wood or a 2 hybrid replacement maybe a 3 wood? Definitely haven’t wrap my mind around what they replace in the bag. I carry a 3 wood 2 hybrid and a 4 hybrid.

Still working on the 16° hybrid in this space... maybe next year if that doesn't work out.
how about a head to head with the stealth DHY/udi going against the Tour Edge ?
I have the last model in 2 , 4, 5 with the velecore fujikura shaft blue in them and they transformed the top of my bag…
Im glad you made this vid. Been thinking of gettting a udi
The DHY reminds me of the Gapr wedge from a few years ago.
I did try that and wasn't impressed.
A very nice Adams Golf club 😆
I bought the dhy sim original. Loved it until winter came and it was so difficult to use sticking to my 3 set iron or 7 wood
What about a test Stealth 5 irion, against the Stealth 5 Hybrid against the Stealth DHY 5 iron
Love this
I'm in the market for a 2 or 3 iron to replace my rescue wood and this video has just added more clubs for me to consider 😂

Lovely looking clubs from Taylormade and very well demonstrated James

DHY, or 19° hybrid guys
I have the Sim DHY 3 iron and when I hit it off the screws goes for miles but the one thing that really annoys me is being a left hander Taylor Made didn't make a 2 iron
I’m in the same boat. Love my SIM DHY 3 iron. I can crush it off the tee. Wish they made the DHY 2 iron in lefty.

Was I seeing incorrectly or was the dhy height lower than the udi ?

Hey those are Wilson launch pad irons
Good vid James… still like the look of p790 udi 🤤
The new irons James mentioned, would they be the new version of the P770
It was only a guess at what we could see buddy. No idea on their plans
do they come in left handed?
Well done James 👏

It must be 1pm, been waiting for this today :-)
The udi looks so good, but I know better than to try it. Maybe the bigger one would be better suited for me
So….these are rebranded GAPR irons?
Updated with less dense foam. Saves weight and can be put elsewhere for more forgiveness
Quality content as usual 🔥
Dhy for me. Interesting club.
I still own a set of carbon face irons made by hippo years ago I used to love them but they are a bit dated now
You even cleaned one!
Go with the DHY, James! At least game it for a few weeks. JIT, all the way!
Lazy of taylormade tbh, they're identical to the sim udi and dhy with stealth on them now.
The sim udi is a weapon though! But it cannot get my P790 3i out the bag, I love it far too much.
Hey boss?
Yes what is it?
We've got a load of these old gapr clubs left what we gonna do with em?
Jenkins take the paint off and gimme a call
I want the DHY.
DHY looks just like the launch pads!
Did you hire a camera operator? Or is that Chris?
Good review
Look like Cleveland launcher irons , twice the price though

This is just their old gapr mid's with different aesthetics.
The new foam is 70% less dense so they could shift weight to make it more forgiving from the tech description
Only God and Mr. Hogan could hit the 1 iron!
James just keep using Foxys clubs 🤣😂
C U the same time tomorrow. I missed your usual ending . . .
Sorry buddy! Trying to end a little sharper!
DHY first, UDI second?
DHY
Udi First surely…
👍👍👍
I would prefer the dhy
UDI
The DHY is by all measures a better club, BUT and a big but, image/ego is unfortunately still a large portion of golf equipment choice. A club that’s easier to hit but is still usable elsewhere, vs one that is a little thinner. Come on people.

Personally like the look of DHY Series better..
UDI second
New clubs from Taylor made? Well you don’t see that every day. Oh my mistake…. actually you do. 🤔😉
MOT the mighty whites.
Daily fix
🔥🔥
stealth irons are crap had 4 months 4 heads have come off ag will not give a refund
69 nice
I’ll pass on these, have enough clubs to mix and match to do what I want.
The DHY Didn’t work for me James. I’m off to try the Tour Edge from your last video. Still trying to fill the gap between my driver and 4 iron!🏌🏻♂️🏌🏼
Let me know how it goes!
