Excellent review, I don't really care about how the clubs look at all. I care more how the scorecard looks at the end of the round.

I thought the exact same thing!
Got fitted for and ended up with Mavrik Max two years ago.
      Arrow straight
      Long
      Consistent yardage
And as numb as all heck😢
      No sense of feel
      Thick and ugly offset
Traded in and got Mavrik Pro and have been a happy camper ever since

I watched this video a dozen times before I made my purchase. As a 60 year old golfer, who is in very good physical condition, my swing speed is pretty much in the low 80's now. I got fitted for they Taylormade Stealth HD irons this year and I couldn't be happier. They do exactly as advertised. High launching, forgiving and definitely a game improvement for me. I was using older Callaway's from 15 years ago and my scores last season averaged 78-82. I played 36 holes this past weekend and scored a personal best 71 from the whites. The clubs made my striking much more consistent. I also eliminated chunks & burners, as well as stuck greens, due to the improved attack angles. My objective was to make the game much more enjoyable for myself and in the early part of this season, 2023, they have done what I invested in them for. I tested them against the T-Rails and the Launchers and based on the recommendation from the Master Fitter at Golf Galaxy, I settled on the TaylorMade's. They feel great and the sound is fine. Personally, I am extremely happy.

    Making the game easier
Well I bought these 5-pw graphite yesterday.
Few buckets on the range then 9 holes today
Wow wow wow, I have never hit shot after shot so consistently the same, high with a draw and great dispersion with every iron
My iron game was getting me down last year, I’ve always drove and chipped ok but didn’t want to play due to iron game
These Stealth HD are a 100% game changer my confidence is now up due to watching every iron sore high and to target.
If your struggling with your irons due to swing speed/age ( I’m 53) then please take my word for it that these will transform your enjoyment of the game
Great review Andy, you may have saved my game with this review 😊

So, having watched not just your reviews but various others trying the Stealth HD, I finally got the opportunity last week.
I was genuinely excited. I believe, like you, in making the game easier. I bought the Ping CipR on your recommendation and was sold before trying the Stealth HDs.
I found them awful. The looks were fine but I found the massive offset encouraged me to shank every other hit. I also found them really heavy, even with the KBS MMT 85 shaft. Cannot tell you how disappointed I was. So still with P790s.. and still hitting them well.

Fantastic review(s) Andy, love how you stick to discussing all the relevant aspects and stats and skip all the marketing fluff, well done!
One question & suggestion if I may. Given how the data from these clubs lines up so close with your own stats, could you see yourself and other similar handicap golfers benefitting from having these in the bag full-time or do you feel that while gaining consistency you may lose workability? Guess I’m trying to figure out what they’re lacking.
As for the suggestion, would you consider making a video reviewing these out on a course you play often to see how they stack up against your usual sticks? Thanks again for the awesome videos and please keep ‘em coming. Cheers!

Great video! Since I switch to the TM Rescues from the 3 and 4 irons and I appreciated the effortless feel of a controlled swing and getting very predictable and repeatable launch, carry, distance and decent that I was getting with the Hybrids I wondered how I can have the same with my irons. After all, distance is not important since it is generally loft and speed related and that can be managed with club selection as opposed to losing accuracy by swinging harder. Predictability is the key. Consistency with different lies, rough, hardpan, and fairways. Add to that, very little variances with regard to off-center strikes vs flush hits adds greatly to the game enjoyment. I just purchased these irons after migrating from 15-year-old Pings that i bought for the same reason. Why would I care about the looks? There are no pictures on the scorecard :) Thank You for such a great contribution. I would love to have seen more ball flight after the hits though. PS you did well while talking in your swing, something I could never do.

Andre for the type of profile these Stealth HD iorns are aimed at I think they look really smart and despite some of the criticism on looks I actually like the look. They are much more iorn looking than the Halo. I currently use the the standard Stealth and I am very pleased with them, two great products from Taylormade.

I'm glad you reviewed this iron, Andy. However, I wish you would have spent more time discussing the shape of the face. You mentioned it briefly at the end of the video but the face is much squatter than you would see with a regular iron in order to get the moi lower in the club. This is a big differentiator from other max game improvement irons.

Perfect review. Exactly what I have been considering testing as well. 6-pw my regular Gen 5 set in bag. Then replace my current 5 iron w a cannon like this and perhaps even try graphite shaft to check numbers. If I could get just a little more firepower out of my 5 iron w added forgiveness and stopping power that’s going in the bag.

You mentioned mixing the HDs for the long irons with the shorter irons of the standard stealth. I really like this idea. Do you anticipate needing to adjust lofts in such a mixed set? I was thinking 1* strong for the 5-6 HDs and 1* weak for the 7-AW. This would seemingly gap the HD better at the long end. Thoughts?

Taylormade brought out the MCGB in 2017-18 and they gave similar performance, powerful looks and some snubbed the wide bottom tungsten weighted soles and chunkier look. But the performance was similar to these in many ways. Great iron, I still have mine as an alternative set. Now the name Stealth gets put on a big fat bottom club and minds have changed. That’s about time, both irons look great and I’m glad these are impressive now whereas 5 years ago they would of been snubbed too. Good review, and nice club. Some great stuff in 2023, and I’ll say in past 3-5 years golf has been transformed by great gear.

I always find the conversation about this type of iron interesting. I think a lot of people think they're some sort of magic wand but they're not. I used to use the Cleveland equivalent and they were ok, I liked them, but you still had to match the club face to the path and get the ball mostly before the ground to get a decent result from them. The people who these clubs are marketed towards would, in my opinion and experience, be better off getting a couple of proper hybrids and maybe a 9 wood to replace their 5,6 and 7 irons. The low cg of these will help but if you don't have much speed, like me, they don't give you enough of a boost.
I actually think they should sell these individually and market them towards the low double digit handicapper as a long iron replacement, that sort of golfer would probably benefit the most from them.

I have had these for 3 months and shot a 74 and 75 (par 70) which are my 2 best rounds. Super high...so you can really attack pins....BUT....after 3 months playing 2 or 3 rounds a week max. They look awful....I clean after every shot and round....the faces are average but the hosels and back of the club look worse than my Xxios that I gamed for 4 years! A real let down for the price

I think when they take a regular looking iron an blow out a cavity, add to the sole and topline, it usually still looks like an Iron to me. When they start messing around with the head shape or attaching a lump of coal to it, it’s no longer an iron and is something else. Maybe I’m totally wrong but to me the Srixon ZX4, Callaway ST Rougue Max, Sim 2 Max and all the others are still irons, where these are hybrids of some kind.

I think the companies are reverting back to iron lofts for the past. TaylorMade could have just come out with a set of regular Stealth irons, make the lofts weaker, and you would have a set of irons that were not so odd looking. I just had an iron fitting yesterday. Any game improvement club was too strong lofted for my swing. 7 iron swing speed of 80 mph, ball spin sub 4000, peak height of 85’, landing angle of 42*. Not ideal at all! I either have to bend these irons weak, buy a more players iron, or buy a set of irons from the early 2000’s. I need a 7 iron with around 34*. I think these companies have gone too far, and have finally figured that out. If I had a faster swing speed, these strong lofted irons wouldn’t be a problem.

I like the look of them but are they as expensive as the rest of their clubs? Someone needing that help is not going to pay for premium name because they don’t have the game. High handicap golfers want to progress and as they do they move up in clubs, not start out at top of price range as a high handicap player.

These are nothing new in some respect as these were all the rage in the late 70s/early 80s and were known as low profile irons. The theory was the same in that they were designed to get the ball up (or launch as it is now called) its interesting for me so see them come full circle. I suspect the build quality and technology are far superior on these modern versions. Probably suit me as an arthritic 75 year old, enjoyed the video by the way

They are ugly, probably the ugliest iron since TM brought out the MCGB. Super GI irons do not need to be that ugly as Wilson, Cleveland and Cobra produce better looking, similarly styled irons.
The performance is very good. Plenty of spin, plenty of height, steep descent angle - that is a very controllable ball into the green.
My only issue with these type of irons is that they will be very one dimensional - they get the ball high. But that is not really a criticism because that is what they are designed to do and it is what the target audience needs. These are not the clubs for a golfer who has the ability to vary flight shape and trajectory.
Would be interested in a comparison video with alternatives from Wilson, Cobra etc.

Why do you assume that high handicap golfers want to play something as ugly as that though? It may go better for you, as a low-handicap golfer (!) but, it's designed for people who struggle with strike, launch and length. Should they buy it, will it be better for them? From this, I'm not sure! I suppose that the question is, is it suitable for people who strike the ball inconsistently? Is it better than the Cleveland Launcher XL, for instance, or the myriad of hybrid only "iron" brands? I'm not sure, but I am sure that, just because you hit these well (and you do!), higher handicappers won't necessarily do so!
