They should have given some of these as free in base game of Overwatch 2 since it was created for it in first place and I paid for OW1 it had Archives already and also paid for OW2 BETA

@@GreasyOaf It is true as a general rule - or at least to such an extent that it's the most profitable way to make video games. The gamers (as a whole) are the problem.
@@GreasyOaf If it wouldnt make sense financally Blizzard or other companies wouldn't do this. And yes, gamers in general are at fault for this, because most wont watch those videos, or care. But yet, most gamers buy into shitty stuff... another example diabolo immortal, its a money printing machine. But in the end it damages us as customers, but as long as people are willing to buy into this practices nothing will change.
Yea at least in other games (ima use fortnite as an example) you see the whole skin and you know what people see. And although some skins are around 15-20 bucks, it comes with a huge bundle (gliders, backpacks, emoticons, sprays, etc). Blizzard is definitely insane for sure.
@@matthewcasanova8343also it didn't start out as free skins. It was that price at the start. For Overwatch if you got lucky or saved your coins the skins were free. They went from free to paid skins so no matter the price of the skins, they weren't worth the price because you could get them for free before
I don't play much at all but I don't think it's too bad as alot of skins for games are around 10-20$ they also look decent in this game but then again maybe I'm wrong
They have a big? (maybe?) user base again, but this time they're people who don't know anything different This isn't the same game anymore, and it's entirely profit short term focused
I didn't want this game to fail the way it did. It's so sad watching a game I once held so dear, fall apart at the seams. Every time we get good news, we get worse news that follows. I want the game to be worth the money I spent when it was still considered a triple A game, but I don't see that happening any time soon.
@isaiaharmendariz3384 yeah, they know they'll still make tons of money from this, that's why they're doing it. That's capitalism for ya. It's not about making good products, it's about extracting as much profit as possible
I haven’t put a cent into overwatch in months and I’m not gonna start now. I already got the skins I want so I don’t care about the battle passes anymore
That’s crazy that after all of the backlash, they looked at all of their loyal fans and decided to charge whoever’s sticking with them for an extremely watered down PvE mode AFTER lying to the community… absolutely awful.
The fact that they themselves feel like they have to specify and describe the value of the product, is a confirmation that it's all just a garbage cash-grab. If your product is good, the price will speak for itself
Its like when all the crypto/nft trends had to repeatedly say ”we’re not a rugg pull! We’re not going to steal your money”. And then they did. ”Our product is good value! Look at all the value! Yeeees, yeees, open your wallet…”
I'll be 42 years old in a month, and this is the biggest FeelsBadMan I've experienced in gaming. The last game I played seriously before Overwatch was quake3arena when I was still on dial-up. I tried getting into Diablo and WoW, and as amazing as they were they just weren't really my things. Overwatch grabbed me in a way I hadn't felt about gaming since I was literally still in high school. The worst part is when I think what could've been, there's no reason the universe, characters and lore couldn't have popped off like Pokemon did back in the day. Ugh, just... FeelsBadMan.
Ditto bro. I've watched as WoW, Diablo, Warcraft... all of it turned to shit, because greedy people. Those developers that talk to us are constantly lying - that's their job, they are shilling for activision blizzard. They promise things, do less than that and keep charging more and more in other words it's cheaper to lie.
Playing the game supports the toxic relationship you've described. Too bad so many continue to bitch about their woes, yet won't actually act against it in any way - such as uninstalling and simply not playing. No, they'll continue to play the game and whine about it all the while, wondering why things have gotten so bad when they themselves are the very source of its continual existence.
I just gave up. I enjoy the game, I want the skins. I don't like what they did with OW2 but I will not withhold of myself a game I enjoy for a meaningless protest that would probably wont work because gamers do not seem to ever unite around anything so yeah I still play the game and I do buy some things I like from the shop from time to time.

Never stop the rants, Sty. They’re the best thing to come from OW2. This model of monetisation is absurd. They kill PVE and try and sell the scraps back to us. Compared to industry peers, these PVE events and updates are the kind of thing Fortnite provides it’s players for free. Say what you will about the game, but fortnite repeatedly shows OW2 how a free to play live service game should function, or at least what direction it should aspire to move towards.

True, but for this evolving industry if it were me I would feel almost a responsibility to acquire the stuff their selling and publicize the experience and still be objective. I can understand that stance.
You really hit the nail on the head about PvE offering an entirely different way to play the game and enjoy Overwatch's gameplay and universe. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I was waiting for the fully fleshed out PvE experience to pick up the game and start playing it. I played a bit of the original Overwatch, and it was decent, but like you said, it's hard to relax when the game is clearly intended to be played with a competitive mindset. And that's just not something I'm looking for these days. I would've paid $100 a year for quality PvE the same way I do with Destiny 2, but as it stands now, I'll probably just watch someone else's video of the story missions and never touch the game at all. I mean, what's the point of paying for a whole season of content when I'm not gonna care about 80% of it? They've pissed away an entire new playerbase to potentially monetize, and they probably don't even realize it. They either don't recognize that there are different markets within the gaming umbrella, or they just assume that this barebones, transparently greedy offering is going to be enough for PvE focused players. I hate that it's come to this, but I honestly hope the PvE content flops hard just to prove to the higher ups that you can't just take shortcuts in making content.

Epic Games’ main audience is 5-13 years old. Their monetisation schemes are equally as scummy, it’s just that their audience has underdeveloped brains and don’t care.
I buy Fortnite battle-passes cause I get more vbucks back and genuinely enjoy their game. Their subscription literally have the exploit where if you buy it in a threshold of the next season you get both battle-passes and say that is a good idea when buying it. Fortnite rewards are better for because you can see it more, so their price is justified. Even buying stuff from them you get your moneys worth. Devs see what Fortnite did and copy them but demand you more money. I find it funny that they did the opposite of what Overwatch did, Fortnite was PVE first and then became PvP later. It’s crazy how Fortnite is genuinely doing Free to Play better that everyone else.
I fuuuuuckig hate to say it, I don't really enjoy fortnite aiming, I was really excited for save the world like 8 years ago. But what you've said is bloody true, mate. It just is. Enough to stand anyways. Sure it's more complex but f me how is epic the good guy???

Wasn't the entire reason for BP and Shop so we could have more free content more frequently ? The apologists were like "oh yeah but this pays for free content". Said content=more stuff to be bought This game has to be the biggest rug pull in AAA gaming.
@precisemotion euh yeah no it's not. Not to mention how in OW1 they all launched unique event for specific seasons or holidays, now they just copy paste them. Also these 3-4 character per year are just the ones they held back from releasing in OW1. It's not new content, just stuff they didn't release so they could justify this bs.
The fact they’re still gonna charge people for this stuff after all the BS, the lies, the leading people on, the false promises… smh. Scumbag, greedy company.
They had to charge for it but it's still a disaster. They should've just made it part of the battle pass or something at this point. Idek if there's anything they could do to make it seem justified.

*This was my breaking point for Overwatch 2.* For the longest time I've tried so hard to avoid the doomer-posting. For the longest time I had hope that with time if we could just weather the storm, that we could rebuild this game's reputation in the long-term. And I do still think a majority of the mainstream criticisms of Overwatch 2 on its release were uninformed and sometimes just straight up kinda lies (though to be fair, with the confusing direction and lack of clarity, it's kind of to be expected). I thought that because going to 5v5 may not have been justification enough for the 2, but it DID fix the trainwreck that was the Tank role in OW1. Removing CC did a world of good for the game, as much as some may cry about magnetic grenade (before it became a CC ability again this patch - OH OK). And I do think the game's balance had been better than ever before in its life ever since Season 3. Even when the cancellation of PvE hit - I distanced myself a little from OW, but I thought I'd just stay quiet and see how it turns out. I could still see a way forward for the game, though things certainly looked rough. This blog post alone killed every last hope I had for this game and confirmed my fears. The constant re-use of the Rio mission showed off back in 2019 whenever they talk about PvE. Only 3 Missions, and despite being not what was promised with no-one having high hopes for it, PvE still costing $15. The focus on Season 6 to distract from how barren Season 5 is. And the fucking vile barrage of bundle advertising, as they tell try to say with a straight face that a single skin is worth $19, and that being able to skip a quarter of a single battle pass is worth $20. I'd long realiised the monetisation of Overwatch 2 was mostly based around whales. The Battlepass is actually very good price-wise, and I mean that sincerely, but everything else is overpriced by design. Anyone willing to spend money on more than just the battlepass is probably the kind of poor sap who's willing to spend $30 on a single skin, and it seemed clear to me their plan was to get the most money possible out of those kinds of players. I always hoped the plan was to use that money to try and expand the game's reach back to what it used to be, but by now this blog post made it clear they want to do the opposite. They have no interest in keeping the game alive in the long-term, they just wanna cash out as hard as they can with the players they have now, regardless of whether it will kill the growth of the game. Rather than make the PvE free to get new players in, they'd rather charge the few people actually willing to pay for it just to squeeze a little more from them - all while advertising the multiple other bundles they could be buying, rather than addressing the concerns of the community. This just seals the fate of this game so hard, I no longer care if I don't think this doomer-posting or ranting has any chance of fiixng the game - because at this point, no level of patience or understanding can even marginally improve it either. I had that attitude for over a year, and it hasn't seem to have fixed anything, so I finally made my own rant about this whole situation when this dropped. I can't see this game doing anything else from now but shrink. I don't think it's dead on the spot, but in the past I thought in a year's time once we're through this rough patch the game might have a brighter looking future, and now I think the game would be lucky to be still alive and kicking in 2 year's time.
@@doublechindoge7 imo yes, OW1 was super hyped and it actually delivered for quite a while. Obviously it had it's problems too but the hype lasted for years, to the point where i kept getting OW1 news and discussions on my social media feed without ever searching for it back in 2016-2019. Then i started playing in 2019 and had a blast. OW2 being free2play meant it was supposed to be greater than OW1 in hype. And then Blizzard fumbled the ball so hard that the game is just silently and slowly fading away. Oh and yeah i'm kinda biased as i liked the slow pace of OW1, me being a casual "just for fun" player.
@@LorikQuinn Oh, then I see why'd you'd say that. Honestly, I think while OW1 had a lot more content being added to it and felt a lot more alive in the past than OW2 does now, the OW1 team was honestly kinda garbage at balancing their game - and not even just from a perspective of making heroes with relatively even winrates, but also just the perspective of designing heroes to be fun and encourage interaction - there was a lotta shit in old OW1 that was just unfun to deal with, reduced skill expression, or was just plain poorly balanced. That was the good I saw in Overwatch 2, that they seemed to finally be addressing that and finally getting in touch with what the community wants from their hero design and balance. For all the shit the OW2 people like Aaron Keller gets, I still think they do understand that far better than previous devs, and that's still the main thing that makes part of me still want to root for this game to make a recovery. Problem is at this point, I just don't think just being in touch with what we want from a balance and hero design perspective is enough when everything else is burning down, and all this shit coinciding with their first mis-step in a while imo of saying "We feel there is room for more CC"... Yeah it just makes things look even worse. I'm still glad we removed most CCs. I'm still glad we moved to 5v5. I'm still glad we replaced 2CP with Push. People love to complain about Push, but I *guarantee* you, replace push with 2cp again like how it was in OW1, and it'll take 2 weeks tops for the community to beg them to bring Push back.
I’ve been studying game development/graphic design for almost 4 years now (I’m 20 years old), and when I started doing it my dream was to one day work at the famous Blizzard Entertainment so I could contribute to my favorite games. Seeing all this really broke my heart. The fact that I understand how game development works and seeing this is absolute madness. I don’t understand how these developers have any fun seeing the community in shambles, only because the higher ups want money. It breaks my heart. It really does.
Dang I feel that. After I started studying game dev I value even more all the effort and work put into games and how absurdly cheap some of them are (indies mostly). Now this... it feels like a factory taking over to make money with quantity over quality, then slapping blizz logo to sell for such a price. If us, the consumers, are being treated like that, I wonder how the devs/workers are. 💔

GD, I've got a respectable career now and sure spending 15-40$ isn't really a big deal to me, but when I was younger and even more into gaming this would've actually been a roadblock. Hopefully this fails tremendously and blizzard gets the message but so far their actions regarding OW2 have not been encouraging. Thanks for being a coherent and passionate voice for the OW community Stylosa!
So true...hopefully more and more people feel the same way. I know the people at the top of these gaming companies don't even like or play video games. This video game is starting to feel more and more like the plot to "Ready Player One" for some reason, I don't know if that is just me or what...
Legit, I feel sorry for younger people these days being targeted to spend money they don't have on games, back in the day you would just buy a game and that was it, there was no such thing as a day one patch or any under-developed BS, the most you would have to pay was for the occasional DLC if you wanted some new maps or something. This is getting ridiculous.
This guy is me after I bought and played Destiny 1. Riding from the 1st mission from the beta and multiplayer, I really had no idea how completely empty a video game could be and how unavoidably fooled I would feel. The only difference is that I didn't publicize my reactions and perspective. But, now I wish I had. Not enough people did because Destiny 2 released in the same fashion, but it just hurt less. There really was no way it wouldn't. Then the same game would be released again, but as a F2P. I think its interesting people have a hard time seeing the love that exists behind the criticism/skepticism gamers have. People would rather accuse others of bandwagoning just to validate ignorance or lack of differing perspectives. Not enough people demonstrate how selfish these companies can be. Sadly the onus is on gamers because "gaming media" acts more like an esoteric 1st class that can identify value rather than a reporter willing to make sacrifices just show the world what is occurring. I'm actually shocked that word "journalism" even exists in the gaming industry. It's only an indirect corporate propaganda used to enforce hidden classist notions of consumption and value. There's no other category of "journalism" that consistently treats its readers like they're too ignorant to understand the world around them.
Man, hearing this "gameplay description" all I could feel was that there was a PR person from Blizzard behind the writter saying "Make it look interesting and awesome" and it still felt like a description of the Blackwatch Rialto Mission from archives mixed with the escort part from the King's Row mission.
Yeah it's the exact same gameplay. Only difference will be the backstory. This should not have taken so many years to make if all it is, is a reskin of the retribution mission

I feel like people continuing to play while refusing to pay for their scummy monetization says more than just leaving. If people leave they'll think that nobody wants to play it, while if people stay but don't give them money they'll see that people want this game to be better than they're making it. Though the problem is that people have to not pay, & as much as people will complain I think enough people are gonna still buy it to justify them doing it more.
With that last line by Keller mentioned, it’s kind of confirming prioritizing monetization over the satisfaction of your customers and generating actual meaningful content. “We don’t want to spend a lot of time creating these missions to drop all at once, that’s what a box launch is for.” Then maybe don’t take a 3 year hiatus to work on a sequel that you advertised *literally* as a fucking box launch. I was very excited for Pve before the news a few weeks ago. At this stage I’m not really bothered about it because of its price. If it was priced better or had more missions maybe I would care more. But unless these missions end up being amazing, I’m just gonna watch them on YT.
@@FGPlus wrong. The Pve missions are $15. As they are bundling a lot of extra stuff with the missions, you are forced to pay $15 if you have no interest in the other stuff. You can’t buy the missions separately for $5. So it’s not just $5. From what’s being said here, thats $15 for these 3 missions only. The next set of missions will also be $15. And the one after that and the one after that, etc. until the game is no longer being updated. If you plan to call someone broke, atleast get the pricing right. 🤣
It’s funny how the one thing promised out of Overwatch 2, a half finished game upon release that release just 1 hero after 3 years of neglecting their original game, ended up being taken away. Truly a horrible company ruining what could’ve been an incredible game/series. What a waste.
9:30 I'd like to point out that people used to grind the PvE missions back in Overwatch 1 because they counted as Arcade wins. In other words, you'd get skins by doing them. That's not really the case anymore, which is probably why I only played Junkenstein's Bride or whatever 3 or 4 times in total, instead of dozens of times a week.
To be fair, I pkayed the Archive missions a lot because I liked co-op more than competitive, and they were predictable plus still gave XP and helped get levels and lootboxes. Now that this isn't the case. . .I dunno. I haven't played in months and I kinda wanna try the new stuff but I don't want to give Activision Blizzard money.
Honestly, the whole reason I played and enjoyed OW1 was because I got loot boxes whenever I did my daily arcade wins and had a chance at skins. I loved holidays for that reason. I never once complained about loot boxes because I never paid for them, I just thought it was fun to try and pull skins I wanted. Honestly, I tried OW2 one time because I wanted to give it a shot, but it was short lived. It just wasn't fun.
no literally, this was exactly me, I would spend hours and hours on events in the arcade, teaming up with people to grind achievements and lootboxes to get the skins and other new items, the event missions were my favorite thing about playing overwatch, so seeing it in the state it is in now makes me sad
I wanted to do that at the start of OW2 but then I noticed plenty of people still bought stuff anyway so why should I not buy a skin I really want in protest when it doesn’t make a difference? Unfortunately games blizzard brands with the "cash cow" mark will forever be cash cows, games doomed to have no more value to the company than generating revenue like hearthstone, overwatch, wow, and games that don't fit the mark get scrapped or forgotten like HotS. the only exception I can think of when it comes to blizzard is diablo 3, which had really fair monetization and ACTUAL dlc content with very few "extras" that given how high quality the game is, i would almost be willing to pay for. yet they betrayed the diablo community before d4 even came out with all the horrific microtransactions and by making the game "live service", obviously just repeating how they did it for overwatch and it wouldn't surprise me if down the line blizzard cancels some major planned content for d4
Yea destiny was lackluster and sorta pay to play but most people knew what they were getting into and had more content to have fun with overwatch j completely lied to us and made a whole new game with a whole lotta nothing new
Looking from the outside, it seems Destiny and Overwatch shares a lot of similarities. Their "communities" absolutely hate the games, but they just can't let it go, lol it shows how addiction plays a major role in all of this, Blizzard and Bungie are literally attacking these poor people, manipulating their urges
@@RRRRRRRRR33 i have played a lot of both games, you could probably say im addicted. i have 3000 hours in destiny, quit recently because i realized i wasnt enjoying it but thats not really the game's fault i played 3000 hours. i understand people who "hate" the game and there are some valid complaints, but i never felt manipulated or like i was being forced to spend money. i dont think its reasonable to make corporations responsible for people's mental health and spending habits or blame them for trying to monetize a product.
as sad as this situation is, they only do it because they can get away with it. if people werent paying for the battlepasses, skins, they would realize they need to cutback on the monetization. but obviously they are making plenty of sales, making them think there is more money to be milked. this sort of scummy monetization wont stop until the players stop paying.
Things can change. But people need to realize that collectively, we are stronger than any corporation, and that standing up to them (rather than apathetically acquiescing) is what’s best for all.
Just stop playing Overwatch. It's that simple. Keeping on playing the game and complaining won't do anything. Blizzard only care if you stop paying but also stop playing entirely
If the OW2 creators keep putting out content like this, I will forever be apart of ow2 community while never playing the game lol. Love the video, look forward to more
We all had the same feeling at the end of the ow trailer hearing tht music. It sounded triumphant but it was sad. We’ve wanted to see these characters grow for years and now it feels like the company’s just preying on our love for the universe
I saw a thing where one of the staff even fuckign said "the replay value isent that high SO WERE ADDING RANDOME EVENTS EVERY OTHER WEEK" thats fun and by fun id rather sit on a ant hill and beat my self with a hammer in the gobe desert
tbh that was my intention since day 1 really, the PvE sucks in Overwatch "1", I never liked those events, so when this "sequel" announced the story mode, I was curious about it, but not willing to play it, to just watch the damn thing on youtube was enough, I was pretending to do this anyway. But here we are, Blizzard not only lost my audience group, they are also losing the audience who was actually willing to play the PvE content, it's a disaster really. One of the worst directions I've ever seen in this hobby, Overwatch had potential to expand a lot, producing spin-off games (like a 2D action game featuring Genji, Doomfist as a guest character in a famous fighting game franchise like Street Fighter, etc.. stuff like that), it had potential to produce animated series and movies. Great character designs, awesome voice acting... and the actual results are porn based on these characters, lol oh man, such a waste
What’s probably worse is that BECAUSE they’re premiering the cinematic through the game client for the first time, I’m sure they’ll gladly drop the “player count number” since a good portion of the player base hasn’t touched the game post pve announcement so it’ll be used a metric to show how “alive” the game is to the board. The game just makes me disappointed at this point as I’ve been around since OW 1 beta, you can see all the workings in the background as they’re scrambling to damage control and it’s such a big signal to not eat what they’re serving up to us
I had a feeling the real reason they pulled the pve was just so they could drip feed us the pve by selling it to us. That’s it for me, thanks Sty for all your work covering the game over the years
You also have to take him into account the fact that without the skill tree and leveling system, what reason would you have to even play these things more than one time.
Great video, feel your rant is 100% on point. A tips to stop your auto focus to jump around. Just turn your camera to manual focus and put your f stop up like one or two step, you still achieve the blurry background and you will have enough wiggle room to stay in focus moving around in the chair. ✌️
I have the utmost respect for content creators like yourself calling this out for what it is despite relying on this game for your main source of income. It’s literally A scam, a cash grab, pure greed. Didn’t think Activision could outdo themselves in terms of selling out to milk the playerbase dry like they did with cod but this is actually just as bad. Only saving grace being it was “free” but most of us actually paid for OW1 and have lost all our data + ability to unlock skins like before. Gaming is literally being ruined by greed lol
There were many content creators who lied about the battle pass, lied about PvE, some supporting blizzards business model, etc. Stylosa is great, but that doesn't mean they all are
@@Setogayamari that’s why I said “content creators like yourself” I see the ones trying to justify blizzards greedy business model and think it’s extremely sad. Defending a multi billion dollar company who are screwing regular people because theyre afraid that if playerbase drops they will lose viewers
I actually think it's more shocking that people continue to support companies making these decisions than the companies themselves. Because at least they're still making money, the people buying it are just shooting themselves in the foot.
I have not played in a year but I still follow Sty to stay up to date on things just in case something good happens. Sty you save me the pain and I appreciate that from you.
I really hope that fans show their dissatisfaction by keeping their wallets closed moving forward. It's the only way that Bliz will understand they didn't pull the wool over our eyes. I'm so upset over their rhetoric and spinning of information. They think we're a bunch of idiots and will believe anything they tell us. The pricing is a joke and how they try to justify it is a joke.
Wallets ain't enough even. You'd have to have people uninstall on a mass scale so that their precious Whales (who are the only ones, I REPEAT, the ONLY ones, that they 'care' about) have no one else to play with, so that queues are too long. Too bad that's impossible because, like with the recent Reddit API scandal, it's nigh impossible to have a full scale boycott when 70% of users simply ignore it or can't be bothered to do anything. If it ain't codified into law, corporate gets to exploit the ever living crap out of their customer and player bases. 'They will own nothing and they will be happy' Laws are pretty backwards or nonexistent in virtual markets and games that we're pretty much doomed as time goes on. It's 'Be a Whale, be a masochist, or get lost'
It doesn't matter. The game is free to play now and we OW1 veterans don't matter anymore. You might not like it but we are being replaced by a new generation of players and its completely intentional by blizzard. They didn't like how cheap we were getting everything for free and expecting all this expensive content and they know the new overwatch fans are already used to minimal effort while opening thier wallet every season to get the latest cool skin for 20$ a pop. Its over.
It's more like microtransactions anchoring the prices for everything above them to be highly inflated, because it's a bundle of them. The problem is not in the structure or concept of battle passes, a sub with scaling freebies, but the distorted value proposition by aggressive monetization.
I watched the trailer and it made me smile, and thought 'okay maybe I have been too hard on OW2', then I heard this news, and my heart was crushed. How can a publisher kick so many home goals, in ever increasingly terrible ways.
the fact you were falling for this shit again just because they showed the same scenes from a different angle, is why this is happening in the first place. you'll buy into this, don't even try to pretend otherwise
@@ExValeFor that’s the part I don’t get. People saw the trailer and were like “OH MY GOD IT LOOKS SO GOOD!” Bro, they didn’t even show gameplay and they reused cutscenes from 2019. How stupid can people be? And now they’re charging it separately from the battlepass? I don’t understand how people are playing this game still.
How did you fall for it again? No, seriously, what part of that trailer made you think “all might be forgiven”? The addiction these communities have to their chosen brand of poison is just staggering.
Recap: > Overwatch has been on a content draught for 3+ years because they had to change the engine and create overwatch 2 for the PvE. > Overwatch 2 PvE got canceled behind the closed door. > Overwatch 2 gets launched with the promised of the already canceled PvE content. > Overwatch 2 is monetization is way more predatory then overwatch 1, but no worries, PvE is still coming (This is a lie) > For about a year they sell us battle passes with "better get it as PvE is coming soon." > PvE get in a obscure livestream canceled, quickly between to points as if it doesn't matter. > Now they show a super flashy trailer of how amazing the PvE is, like it's a full fledged game while it's just 3 archive event missions. > Then they try to sell those 3 max 20 minutes event missions. > They justify it with a $19 dollar worth skin, it's $19 because they say it's worth 419 dollar because their skin prices are ridiculous. Fire up photoshop, alter the color correction a little bit, re render. That's 5 minutes work for an artist but Blizzard decides it's worth $19. > Activision is asking themselves where all the negative backlash comes from. Each time I think, this is the deepest activision can dig the grave as they sure must have reached the planets core by now. But each time I am amazed they can dig even deeper. I am convinced they use the same tactics as nigerian prince mail scammers use. People who react to those obviously phishing mails are so stupid, that they are easy targets to make their bank account a few $1000 lighter. People who pay for this are such a whales they can serve them dogshit with an overwatch logo for $100 and they would still pay for it. They can indeed sell simple recolour skins for $20-$35 and they will just pay up.
I was an absolute diehard fan for OW and contributed each season to “fund” what I felt was a fun gaming experience and the hopes to play this new PVE they showcased in Blizzcon years ago . However, with the announce of PVE changes and the adoption of this new model, I refuse to give OW anymore money. This game has become a absolute shell of what it was and doesn’t deserve the 2 after its name. Thanks for all the memories OW. Time to move on to something that delivers on the promises they made.
You’re an idiot for giving it any money in the first place, yes “funding is important” but Jesus Christ don’t pay for anything you don’t have in your hands yet
I was the same, spending money on the game because I had thought the content I was waiting for patiently would come and give me a new experience and now I’ve deleted the game and I’ve moved on to Paladins for a hero shooter that pvp and started playing more single player games for story. It’s crazy that a company like Blizzard can’t even give us decent content without their own selfish need to drain our wallet.
@@CelestialRedPanda Paladins) You joking? I played it from 2018 to 2021 and this game is terrible. Hi-Rez studio bans everyone for no reason. I got banned on Instagram for criticizing the game. Game have a lots of bugs, from year to year less players wants to play this game. And there is no balance in heroes, they do all to make a comfortable game for console players but not for PC players. And cybersport of this game died long time ago. Developers are terrible. Just don't waste your time. Paladins is very bad chip game and really don't worth it.
Yup, here it is...I was expecting it - glad to see ya speaking your whole heart on this one, my dude. Somebodys gotta, regardless of the 'Shush about the OW2 negatives' crowd - its an important discussion to have, so folks gotta deal with that!
Here is my thought though. They could literally have kept the talent system. They could have focused on only doing the talents for the characters apart of the missions. If doing all off it at once is too much and they are going to roll out in pieces anyway then why not put lil more effort and do the trees for those characters? Supposedly was already working on it.
1:47 it’s also the fact the skins are per character and in this game you’re character has a impact whether you win or lose. You can spend 20$ for your favorite characters skin, but to win you may not be able to play them.
Which further encourages people to not counter pick or one trick. The game was designed for hero swapping and certain heros will always be better than others in certain comps and on certain maps. The fact people are too dumb to understand this concept and 1 trick shows mental stupidity on a level I can't understand.
I have alot of respect for you not giving up on it, but I will say this! You have a REAL talent of covering games throughly! And enjoyable to watch too! I believe you would be totally fine with other games too! Because I dont think this is healthy either for you anymore! The problem is somehow there are still so many people just brainlessly buying all this garbage. As long this is the case, Blizzard will keep doing this just cause they can. For me it's pure torment to see this way of developing games, by a company used to be loved by everyone. EVERYONE should stop buying into this crap, maybe then something will happen.
I'm pretty new to overwatch (started playing when starwatch ended) and I kinda feel what you're describing at the end of your video. This feeling that there could be more, should be more not just gameplay, but more character moments that aren't just lobby interactions, more worldbuilding especially for Talon and more depth and intrigue to the plot. Overwatch is insane for not giving its passionate fan community more throughout the years.
now imagine you’ve been playing this game for nearly 10 years, being promised ONE THING every time you looked at it, every day, for the entire games lifecycle.. And you never actually get it. As a new player it’s interesting to see your point of view on it. As an (unfortunately) ancient overwatch player, i loved these characters. i had to know everything about them, and geez man.. a pvp explaining such was all i wanted. we got the fun little coop events every few years, but you were so focused on not getting obliterated by aimbotting CPUs that you couldn’t really pay attention to the lore all that well. honestly man, we’ve all spent way too much money on this game, hoping it will just be what we wanted it to be. but i don’t think this is a money issue anymore. it’s clearly a major space in creative differences. and i doubt they lack the means to pull it off at all. this kind of stuff does NOT happen with game development. and if it does.. it almost never lasts. godspeed overwatch
I could not feel you more in this video. The same time I was complaining about this monetization in discord, I was loading up the game to play. I absolutely love this game. I met my fiancee because of this game. I met some of my best friends because of this game. But everytime I hear some news, I get upset or angry. It's miserable. And yet I can't stop. I'm just desperately hoping (in vain) that this shit will stop and we'll get our old, good game back.
if that's so why would they cancel the talent trees and the hero missions? I think this is more of a lack of devs to work on both sides PvP and PvE, and Activision not wanting to spend more money to hire more people
@@styregt2006 We can't be sure what activision's reasoning is, but we can be sure that it's about money. That being said, actiblizz of all companies absolutely has the resources to complete their goal. But not the willingness, apparently.

It’s actually disgusting how they have treated their players, especially overwatch 1 players who have been waiting years for this, just for them to erase half of it. Despite the fact they are making us pay $15 for 3 missions despite us being robbed of loot boxes and the only source of getting new cosmetics etc is paying.
At this point, the only real difference between classic Overwatch and Overwatch "2" is that *_Blizzard has now locked an overwhelmingly vast majority of the game's content behind Battle Passes and other Paywalls._*
This is insanity. I liked OW2 going F2P cause I think it brings more players. I didn't mind Season Pass since that's obviously insanely good way to monetize games, especially live service ones. I liked 5v5 changes. But this? There is no justification for this. Battle pass should cover these missions. It's gutted version of PVE.
i was excited for hero mode because it would be likely you could play every hero on every mission. now i have a strange feeling Symmetra is going to show up for only one mission.
People are: Pay $120 for Valorant Skins: "YEAH! DEFENITLY GETTING IT!!!!!" Pay $15 for Overwatch expansion: "NOOO!!! How Blizzard!! How can you do that to us!!! IM NOT PAYING IT!!
I haven't played overwatch in nearly 4 years, but I stay subscribed to Sty because I absolutely love how honest he is. You will always have my support ❤
It’s actually wild how they completely gutted the pve mode and THEN still had the balls to charge everyone extra to even play it
Came here to say this. Just mind blowing. They can pound sand if they want money for a PVE event.
They should have given some of these as free in base game of Overwatch 2 since it was created for it in first place and I paid for OW1 it had Archives already and also paid for OW2 BETA
I’m not surprised that is capitalism for you

You really hit the nail on the head about PvE offering an entirely different way to play the game and enjoy Overwatch's gameplay and universe. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I was waiting for the fully fleshed out PvE experience to pick up the game and start playing it. *This was my breaking point for Overwatch 2.*
For the longest time I've tried so hard to avoid the doomer-posting.
I'm feeling like an ass today so I came to comment that this was way too long to read. Your opinion is valid but my attention span is short.
I'm going back to OW1 with private servers, that was peak Overwatch.
@@LorikQuinn OW1 was peak Overwatch?
I love them mentioning the value of the skins as if they didn’t decide the value of these skins themselves
Man, hearing this "gameplay description" all I could feel was that there was a PR person from Blizzard behind the writter saying "Make it look interesting and awesome" and it still felt like a description of the Blackwatch Rialto Mission from archives mixed with the escort part from the King's Row mission.

It just wasn't fun.
no literally, this was exactly me, I would spend hours and hours on events in the arcade, teaming up with people to grind achievements and lootboxes to get the skins and other new items, the event missions were my favorite thing about playing overwatch, so seeing it in the state it is in now makes me sad
can we finally come together as a community and not pay for any of this shit to put an end to it finally?

That’s it for me, thanks Sty for all your work covering the game over the years
I literally uninstalled after they said they canceled the pve we were promised and sold on
You also have to take him into account the fact that without the skill tree and leveling system, what reason would you have to even play these things more than one time.
Great video, feel your rant is 100% on point.
A tips to stop your auto focus to jump around. Just turn your camera to manual focus and put your f stop up like one or two step, you still achieve the blurry background and you will have enough wiggle room to stay in focus moving around in the chair.
✌️
cant believe they selling us scraps, absolutly shameless
I have the utmost respect for content creators like yourself calling this out for what it is despite relying on this game for your main source of income. It’s literally A scam, a cash grab, pure greed. Didn’t think Activision could outdo themselves in terms of selling out to milk the playerbase dry like they did with cod but this is actually just as bad. Only saving grace being it was “free” but most of us actually paid for OW1 and have lost all our data + ability to unlock skins like before. Gaming is literally being ruined by greed lol
its not a cash grab stop being an idiot
There were many content creators who lied about the battle pass, lied about PvE, some supporting blizzards business model, etc.
Stylosa is great, but that doesn't mean they all are
@@Setogayamari that’s why I said “content creators like yourself” I see the ones trying to justify blizzards greedy business model and think it’s extremely sad. Defending a multi billion dollar company who are screwing regular people because theyre afraid that if playerbase drops they will lose viewers
genuinely impressive how blizzard manages to make worse and worse decisions
I actually think it's more shocking that people continue to support companies making these decisions than the companies themselves. Because at least they're still making money, the people buying it are just shooting themselves in the foot.
I have not played in a year but I still follow Sty to stay up to date on things just in case something good happens. Sty you save me the pain and I appreciate that from you.
his sacrifice shall be rewarded...
the reward is 15 bucks though 🤑
ye havent played in 3 seasons lol and have over 2000 hours on the game. what a shame
'They will own nothing and they will be happy'
Laws are pretty backwards or nonexistent in virtual markets and games that we're pretty much doomed as time goes on.
Its over.
When Stylosa’s voice gets to the Gollum pitch you know he’s angry
Battle passes have absolutely destroyed modern gaming and I will die on that hill
It's more like microtransactions anchoring the prices for everything above them to be highly inflated, because it's a bundle of them.
The problem is not in the structure or concept of battle passes, a sub with scaling freebies, but the distorted value proposition by aggressive monetization.
Thank god i moved to pve a while back, there are still incredible games on there, but pvps are a dumpstertruck
no
I watched the trailer and it made me smile, and thought 'okay maybe I have been too hard on OW2', then I heard this news, and my heart was crushed. How can a publisher kick so many home goals, in ever increasingly terrible ways.
the fact you were falling for this shit again just because they showed the same scenes from a different angle, is why this is happening in the first place. you'll buy into this, don't even try to pretend otherwise
@@ExValeForTime to look at them on RUclips and forget about anything related to Overwatch till the next one uploads
@@ExValeFor that’s the part I don’t get. People saw the trailer and were like “OH MY GOD IT LOOKS SO GOOD!”
Bro, they didn’t even show gameplay and they reused cutscenes from 2019. How stupid can people be? And now they’re charging it separately from the battlepass? I don’t understand how people are playing this game still.
@@Not_CielI know its so aggravating bc its clear people dont have a single care for the quality of the game thats why they still buy the B.S
How did you fall for it again? No, seriously, what part of that trailer made you think “all might be forgiven”?
The addiction these communities have to their chosen brand of poison is just staggering.
Recap:
> Overwatch has been on a content draught for 3+ years because they had to change the engine and create overwatch 2 for the PvE.
> Overwatch 2 PvE got canceled behind the closed door.
> Overwatch 2 gets launched with the promised of the already canceled PvE content.
> Overwatch 2 is monetization is way more predatory then overwatch 1, but no worries, PvE is still coming (This is a lie)
> For about a year they sell us battle passes with "better get it as PvE is coming soon."
> PvE get in a obscure livestream canceled, quickly between to points as if it doesn't matter.
Time to move on to something that delivers on the promises they made.
fuck i feel bad for you cuz in a interview Aaron Keller said that they knew pve wasnt gonna come out before ow2 launched. they lied to everyone
@@romanhalus I never said it was a good replacement, but Overwatch just hurts to play or even look at.
Yup, here it is...I was expecting it - glad to see ya speaking your whole heart on this one, my dude.
Somebodys gotta, regardless of the 'Shush about the OW2 negatives' crowd - its an important discussion to have, so folks gotta deal with that!
1:55 Doom Eternal was available for 20 quid in the last Steam Sale. That alone should tell you everything you need to know.
Here is my thought though. They could literally have kept the talent system. They could have focused on only doing the talents for the characters apart of the missions. If doing all off it at once is too much and they are going to roll out in pieces anyway then why not put lil more effort and do the trees for those characters? Supposedly was already working on it.
Cos battlepass makes more money
1:47 it’s also the fact the skins are per character and in this game you’re character has a impact whether you win or lose. You can spend 20$ for your favorite characters skin, but to win you may not be able to play them.
Which further encourages people to not counter pick or one trick. The game was designed for hero swapping and certain heros will always be better than others in certain comps and on certain maps. The fact people are too dumb to understand this concept and 1 trick shows mental stupidity on a level I can't understand.
@@shaneh3109 you can one trick your way to top 500 with everyone except lw
The emotional rollercoaster of garbage decisions is essential to document and track. Please take care Stylosa!
After they canceled pve after playing since winter 2016 I uninstalled for the first time I recommend y’all do the same
Thank you Sty, Ive been waiting for this. They don't deserve us.
I have alot of respect for you not giving up on it, but I will say this! You have a REAL talent of covering games throughly! And enjoyable to watch too! I believe you would be totally fine with other games too! Because I dont think this is healthy either for you anymore! And you shine soo much more when you are happy for what you are playing and covering! I think you underestimate your community! Try test it with doing every 10 video about something else! No harm in testing the waters! Also we all need a breather at times!
You can feel the pain in stylosas voice, a sad time indeed
This is the nail in the coffin. I haven't played OW2 in weeks. I am just going to uninstall and move on...
Love your channel though! Hope u find other games that u love to cover in the future if OW dies again
Pffft I played OW for 30 minutes and uninstalled it that's how ass it is well done Activision not only is your player base upset but you just killed your game with this dogshit pve
Same uninstalled weeks ago, one of my friends still keeps trying to defend it but I've completely lost interest in OW2, im done with it and I truly feel for Sty.
I still have it installed, play it maybe 1x month for the hide n seek & other cool custom games 😔
nobody cares
@@gamerbeast3616 Maybe you don't, but don't talk as if you talk for everyone, you're probably one of those toxic members of the community that thinks only their voice matters, gonna tell you a hard truth, it doesnt, bye!
$5 a level 😩
I could not feel you more in this video. The same time I was complaining about this monetization in discord, I was loading up the game to play. I absolutely love this game. I met my fiancee because of this game. I met some of my best friends because of this game. But everytime I hear some news, I get upset or angry. It's miserable. And yet I can't stop. I'm just desperately hoping (in vain) that this shit will stop and we'll get our old, good game back.
I think pve was on track to be done, but then the higher upside realized how much more they could make off of it this way.
if that's so why would they cancel the talent trees and the hero missions? I think this is more of a lack of devs to work on both sides PvP and PvE, and Activision not wanting to spend more money to hire more people
@@styregt2006 We can't be sure what activision's reasoning is, but we can be sure that it's about money.
That being said, actiblizz of all companies absolutely has the resources to complete their goal. But not the willingness, apparently.
I feel your pain Sty. I want to love this game, but I have to be realistic. Bliz is just going to keep dropping the ball and not do this game and world justice.
At this point, the only real difference between classic Overwatch and Overwatch "2" is that *_Blizzard has now locked an overwhelmingly vast majority of the game's content behind Battle Passes and other Paywalls._*
come on man, aren't you happy the on fire system is back and free ? celebrate and get that money out
watching blizzard clowning on itself is more fun than the game
Facts
This is insanity. I liked OW2 going F2P cause I think it brings more players. I didn't mind Season Pass since that's obviously insanely good way to monetize games, especially live service ones. I liked 5v5 changes.
But this? There is no justification for this. Battle pass should cover these missions. It's gutted version of PVE.
Sty savagely dunking on game journalists in the first minute caught me completely off guard 🤣
i was excited for hero mode because it would be likely you could play every hero on every mission.
now i have a strange feeling Symmetra is going to show up for only one mission.
People are:
Pay $120 for Valorant Skins: "YEAH! DEFENITLY GETTING IT!!!!!"
Pay $15 for Overwatch expansion: "NOOO!!! How Blizzard!! How can you do that to us!!! IM NOT PAYING IT!!
I haven't played overwatch in nearly 4 years, but I stay subscribed to Sty because I absolutely love how honest he is. You will always have my support ❤
