It's crazy how far battle rap has come. I remember watching this in my teenage days. I'm 31 now. Here you see iron Solomon splitting his 100$ winnings with thesaurus. Just before he splits the cash he says "I'm gonna split this money because we should be getting paid more, maybe like 1000$" fast forward 10-15 years, look how the bag has changed.
"All I know is that" is his go-to filler phrase... anyone who really freestyles understands that. All of the battle rappers from this era had a go-to phrase.
Lol tantrum "Stfu because your rapping sucks" Always says "shut the fuck up" in battles Then um who else Dumbfoundead would always says "God damn" I don't agree that all the rappers had a go to phrase But a lot of them did I know some rappers try relying more on the gimmick and premeditated bars And don't need a catch phrase
Why is this the best comedy battle ever written the spokesmodel for Coke bottles!! How do u say that with a straight face the porcupine line is god tier! Dude I would have to leave the battle after irons 1rst verse! LEGEND
Honestly solomons material was better but these were freestyles back then, solomon came with obvious writtens and saurus was 100% freestyle. Saurus really showed why hes a mt rushmore candidate here. Not many can carry the same 3 syllable rhyme pattern for multiple bars off the top. Both always legends tho
I onky just noticed this aswell watching it now and couldn't believe thesaurus lost it even though back in the day I gave this to Solomon. I think it's safe to say that we as humans (even the judges) are still learning more about what raps really about everyday
@@TheOo0oO They were making a lot more than $100 bucks for battles back then. This was at the peak of Off the head rap battles. It's all pre written now. These 2 were the top battle rappers at the time. This was always a much anticipated match up but it never officially happened in any tournaments. It was only $100 bucks because there's no sponsors. This is like Rocky and Tommy street fighting.
on some real shit, this was back in the "freestyle "days and Solomon wrote and recycled lines from previous battles, through in a couple of fresh bars in the beginning and called it a verse, thesaurus freestyled his shit and was the toughest opponent hes ever faced- he had him shook! thesaurus has hone on to become a champ and is sicker than ever, the outcome today would be quite different, respect to both
Thesaurus was clearly freestylin' and had just finished battlin' other dudes, Solomon's was written except a rebuttal or two. Hard to beat a written with a freestyle.
as someone who raps its funny cause almost everyone has a got to phrase they say while theyre thinkin to prevent stumblin...like dumbfoundead says "Got Dayum!!!" and the saurus says "all i know is that" and he was fuckin up bad cause he said all i know is that at least 15 times soooooooooo yeah got dayum lmao
+Juan Coleman Because he's actually freestyling. Solomon wrote. This was before writing was considered acceptable. That's why Thesarus opened up with that bit about "I know you went home to record those lines, so to say weather its written or not, I guess its borderline"
look at madd illzz freestyling on the sidewalk he never stopped and he was freestyling about ppl walking by him. perfect flow. doesnt mean its written it means hes good
It was a $100 dollar bet yes they each put up $50. Iron mentioned though, that they were each given 1k to start. And I really have to take a guess here, but I think jumpoff paid for Thesaurus' airfare.
Just because Iron Solomon did not freeze or anythig like that doesn't mean he has written rhymes. He uses his opponents own lines to use it against them. Maybe he is that good that people accuse him of using written !
@egga31 when you go on a spree of like 15 very complex rhymes and they all make sense (and are even strong punchlines) - then sorry, they are written...He starts with a few flips, and then proceeds to writtens...TheSaurus had a few lines prepared, for sure, but was mostly off the top...
I hate how they say how anticipated it is. Tonight's battle is not so anticipated and slightly publicized, with both rappers fairly famous, etc. (who the fuck cares)
Iron Solomon is an absolute legend in the battle rap and freestyle but I don't believe all that was off the dome, and I preferred Thesaurus anyway who was clearly freestyling

On smack they used to touch their nose...especially serious Jones lol

Yeah he used that Line a few times also 5 mics in a gay orgy

What the fuck? He only got paid 100 bucks for that shit? And Thesaurus didn't get shit? Dafuq? That's a classic battle for some dirt cheap money.
100$ !? damn... shame they should have each been paid at least 1500$
this was 8-9 years ago it wasnt that big back then
yeah i know but still only 100$.. thats nothing

All i know is that everytime i watch this im Stoned out my freakin mind maaan
This man chugging a 40 ounce
Sounds like thesauraus was actually freestyling but iron was spitting writtens
Damn iron looks young as hell.Think Pete's always looked 50
I demand a rematch
I definately second that
on some real shit, this was back in the "freestyle "days and Solomon wrote and recycled lines from previous battles, through in a couple of fresh bars in the beginning and called it a verse, thesaurus freestyled his shit and was the toughest opponent hes ever faced- he had him shook! thesaurus has hone on to become a champ and is sicker than ever, the outcome today would be quite different, respect to both
Remember this was the same night of spin the Mic when saurus battled 3 other people including a classic matchup with Illmaculate....
DAMN nice battle...i go with the video as it is
He said... "named his self thesaurus but needed a dictionary to spell it right" Lmaoo hell no,i was done.
wtf he said "all i know is that" like 100 times lmao
This was definately 1 of the best rap battles Ive ever seen, that what I used to think. I don't think that's changed either
your bout ass new york....as a wooden cabin....lool i like that line
so much energy back in Jumpoff days
They have a similar style.. good battle!!..
"named himself thesaurus but needed a dictionary to spell it right" damm solomon killed it
Solomon
okay thank you. So was this a $100 bet?
great battle
Actually he flew to NY because that is where Spin the Mic was. This was after the event I think
I cant wait for new Iron Solomon or Pat Stay battles
ok cool. Did you go to Summer Madness 2?
I remember going to Jumpoff in London. I met Pro Green there
Fuck who won for a second tho.. more importantly, they only battled for 100 dollars!?
Solomon got mad when he knew he was losing. LOL
" All I know is that " Thesaurus Should have dedicated his album to Iron soloman.
Solomon snapped on that boy!
c'mon dawg yeah you cant handle the breath?? thesaurus too funny
DNA and Pat Stay are cool too. Peace to all the rhyme battlers.
Damn you're right. Respect
Thesaurus was clearly freestylin' and had just finished battlin' other dudes, Solomon's was written except a rebuttal or two. Hard to beat a written with a freestyle.
I give that to Solomon, being a fan of both.
yo iron Solomon goes harder just bc his freestyle sounds written it comes together like a song its hot
as someone who raps its funny cause almost everyone has a got to phrase they say while theyre thinkin to prevent stumblin...like dumbfoundead says "Got Dayum!!!" and the saurus says "all i know is that" and he was fuckin up bad cause he said all i know is that at least 15 times soooooooooo yeah got dayum lmao

all i know is...why the fuck did i click on this shit
😂😂
its crazy how close saurus freestyles stayed with solomons writtens
Solomon is a battling BEAST!!! he can spit written or off the top of the dome spontaneous freestyles...he's clever or shit
Word fam he did that a lot it wasn't just writtens
Well....saurus was already there battling in spin the mic (along with Nocando, Illmac, Quest McCody, Whathisface etc)...and solomon is from NY....
"we both lost to justice at scribble but atleast mine was debatable" thesaurus should have won.
iron solomon is the best freestyler out there hes just to great
Ha Pat Stays writtens remind me of Solomans freestyles
if they both battled nowadays that would be epic
Solomon is sick but why is he forever feeling up Thesaurus and when he got aggressive Solomon got defensive aha
Thesaurus should have snuffed him!
solomon is probably the best rap battler ever
We all know what Honey I shrunk the kids was about.. TIME. lol
Damnn RIP Thesaurus you just got killed!!!
SOLOMON IS A FUCKEN GOD!!
@vebdaklu how can you telll if it was off the top or not?
It's great to see Solomon win every fight he's in.
they should have a rematch
Thesaurus "All I know is that" counter: IIIII/ IIIII/
named himself thesaurus but needed a dictionary to spell it!
stop saying one is better than the other, theyre both dope ass rappers. and deserve MAAAAD respect.
Saying which ones better is the whole point of a battle tho
thesaurus when he freestyles he says "all i kno is that" alot
look at madd illzz freestyling on the sidewalk he never stopped and he was freestyling about ppl walking by him. perfect flow. doesnt mean its written it means hes good
thesaurus is way better now and so is iron solomon so if they battled again it would be historic
For real, what is he on?
this is so funny lol
It was a $100 dollar bet yes they each put up $50. Iron mentioned though, that they were each given 1k to start. And I really have to take a guess here, but I think jumpoff paid for Thesaurus' airfare.
All battle rappers write their lines.
finally some mutual respect
its a shame iron disturbed thesaurus's flow in 2nd round, it made him drop into pure filler after that
Just because Iron Solomon did not freeze or anythig like that doesn't mean he has written rhymes. He uses his opponents own lines to use it against them. Maybe he is that good that people accuse him of using written !

Kept pressing him about his writtens Sourus is the truth 👏
i never waatched this?
but did he and dfd had a beef?
i went home to smoke crack and eat french toast
how have I never seen this battle wtf
I was thinking the same thing lol. I have no idea what that even means.
these are the type of battles i like, both mc's just breakin the mic. it could have gone either way
TheSaurus coming for you
@islandwarrior16 yea fam I feel you. I just hate how there
are very few artists out there that can actually freestyle.
damn solomon is a good writter!!!!
both of these battle emcees are defeated by having to spit more than one verse.
I hate how they say how anticipated it is. Tonight's battle is not so anticipated and slightly publicized, with both rappers fairly famous, etc. (who the fuck cares)
"all i know is"
is that really all you know?
Loooool hundred dollars ahahahahaha
You can tell thesaurus freestyles but Solomon reuses punchlines
The host sounds like he's from London.
I'd know, I am.
all i know is dat . . solomon was obviously flustered lmao cuz he was losin'
thesaurus was actually freestylin' hmmmmm
Wait, he flew to NY for a chance to win $100?
yes, we know, he says that as he is coming up with something to blaze his opponent when hes freestyling, unlike solomon
@FinchAndWeston that makes sense.
what top 10????
"all i know is that.."
thesaurus first verse was nice!! but after that down hill
yes he did..lol
dope shit
freestyle vs written
@egga31 Nah homie. Iron said it in an interview before. He had written rhymes, and he mixes freestyle rebuttals and shit inbetween the written rhymes.
Im 6 days in I still haven't found crystalg23841's comment yet
Iron Solomon is an absolute legend in the battle rap and freestyle but I don't believe all that was off the dome, and I preferred Thesaurus anyway who was clearly freestyling
wtf are yall talking about, in 05 iron got to the final round and thesaurus only got to the 3rd, but neither one won the whole thing
They were both good. I'd go with Solomon.
he used that honey i shrnk the kids line already its palyed ou
