      @Rene-uz3eb 2 года назад +1

      @Violett Fem what about healthy sugar then? I know keto keep saying it’s all the same but that is adamantly not true, eating fruits is certainly a million times healthier than processed sweets. And might actually satisfy the cravings of whatever the body is trying to get in the first place, whatever that is in fruit. I highly doubt it’s an energy craving.

    • @Rene-uz3eb
      @Rene-uz3eb 2 года назад +2

      @Violett Fem increasing protein apparently reduces sugar cravings. I do have to say I have zero need for chocolate after downing a pure whey protein shake, whereas I usually do finish a meal with some.

    A year on keto reversed my fatty liver/NASH. I have also lost 65 pounds and have been able to seriously improve my fitness and stamina through exercise. I eat no sugar other than that which occurs naturally in my vegetables and am this way able to keep my carb consumption below 20 grams per day. Eliminating carbs has saved my life and I'll never go back to a high carb diet. Ever.

      I’ve been on carnivore for 6 weeks now. It has been tough breaking the sugar addiction, to be sure. I still get tempted like for example when I saw a pizza ad on tv I thought it would be nice. But overall, given all the benefits of the carnivore WOE, I’d say for certain I would not be in a hurry to return to the old WOE. Carbohydrates are so ubiquitous in western culture, it’s little wonder they’re such a hard habit to break.

    I'm so excited that I found you on here. I have hypothyroidism so I want to look at your video's on that also. Thanks for really opening my eye's to how serious this is. I want to be healthy. If I'm in good health then I can be happy. Being over weight has brought on SO MANY other problems. I have knee pain which makes it hard to get in those long walks I love. Shortness of breath. I gotta start with my weight. Thank You Dr Ken

    Thank you for all your videos Dr. Berry and Neisha...It all makes sense now. I was so confused at what was going on or what to do. I chose to try the Keto diet after some blood tests that were shocking...Already knew about the Hashimotos, but NOT the HBA1C 6.1. NASH and CKD...One month in, I am 15 pounds down and feeling so much better. Have eliminated the omeprazole as my gut is so much better. Bless you both :)

    I thought I was on a low sugar diet. When I started using Cronometer and added everything I ate, it showed I had consumed aprox double the amount of sugar every day.
    For me, it should be 36g per day, I had 70g in a day, and was so surprised.

    Dr. Berry, could you tell me what the ideal diet for children would be??
    I have a 6½ year old son & I don't allow him to consume processed foods, refined sugars, or grains while limiting conventional dairy as well; I currently have him on a whole foods diet which consists primarily of a wide variety of healthy oils, meats, nuts/seeds, legumes, leafy greens, fruits, & vegetables. I tend to let him eat as much fruit & nuts/seeds as he wants in between meals & he eats pretty much whatever my wife & I eat for mealtime. My wife & I personally follow a low carb/slow carb diet, sometimes switching to keto for awhile; we also typically only eat 2 meals per day, fasting after 5pm until the next morning when we break our fast. We don't place any other restrictions on our son's diet other than what I mentioned above & we also don't allow him to eat within 2 hours of bedtime. So basically he gets to eat as much as he wants, as often as he wants, as long as it's a whole food or a product that's been minimally processed using only whole food sourced ingredients. I really feel like we're doing the right thing with him but sometimes I doubt myself because so many of our relatives/friends are very judgmental & adamantly opposed to what we're doing & it's very discouraging. Everybody can see how much better off we are as a family...we're way happier & healthier, especially our son as he used to be sick literally all the time when we were still on the Standard American Diet; he used to drink half a gallon of chocolate milk a day, eat sugary snacks, & processed junk from restaurants.....consequently he was also constantly anemic, or in the hospital with breathing problems, on tons of antibiotics, steroids, inhalers, nebulizer treatments, various OTC meds such as antacids & even laxatives/stool softeners. He's an extremely healthy boy these days, but definitely not the pudgy little hoss he used to be & I think that's what concerns people the most. We're not restricting his caloric intake in any way to make him lose weight, I feel that his body is simply leveling out as he gets healthier & slimming down seems to be a natural part of that process. The fact is, he no longer takes ANY pharmaceuticals & he has rarely even gotten a sniffle for over 2 years now since we started this new lifestyle journey. Everybody we know ignorantly believes that our son must've just grown out of his illness & as far as our weight loss goes, we must simply be starving ourselves lol. They refuse to believe that a healthy diet is all it takes to achieve optimal health...as if it sounds too simple & naive. But I am certain that it was the change of diet & lifestyle habits that made all the difference. We occasionally still have cheat days, mainly on holidays & the difference in how the junk food makes us feel vs. the whole foods is like night & day. We'll never live like that again!
    Anyways Doc, I just need some reassurance that I'm doing the right thing with my child's diet or even a redirection if there's still something I'm doing wrong. I would greatly appreciate a response from you Dr. Berry. Thanks for everything you do!

    All bcuz i love a good cup of coffee!! I don't use granulated sugar in my coffee but I must have decadent creamer (various flavors) and usually just one splenda to boost the sweetness of the creamer also I love green tea and lemon and I know it's good for me so I try to drink tea regularly, but it cannot be bland and tea with splenda for me is terrible so for tea I normally will use sugar or honey to enjoy it. Now lately I decided not to use sugar at all and I also set aside the non caloric sweeteners and replaced these with organic honey thinking this was altogether better!! But actually the "side effects" of honey has turned out to be worst for me than sugar after just one month!! My body has been retaining water, my knees have been hurting and stiff, I've been craving the honey and creamer like a drug addict!! Also craving sweets in an unusual way, I'd been getting sleepy at odd hours of the day, hard to focus, gained weight in a short period of time; fat but mostly water retention and excessive bloating!! God has answered my prayer thru this diagnosis and a few others like it just today!! I don't take any medications so I was confused with what was happening to me; why am I swelling up, why am I so hungry, why do i have trouble focusing and why am I getting sleepy when I have things to do??!!!! I thank God I've discovered this before contracting the serious diseases u mentioned Dr Berry, wow and i intended to go on a juice regimen for a month but now i will juice but i'm leaving out the fruit!! I know my health will improve now.

I went 10 years without eating anything chocolate. I decided I'd rather just eat what I want and not listen to people anymore. But, I like listening to you and appreciate the information. I like learning new things and I do take it into account.

    My brother was diagnosed with Parkinson's late in 2007, and is now, at the age of 64, in the very advanced stages of it. He suffers from severe migraines, has done so for decades (he also has had multiple closed head injuries from various odd incidences in his life).
    Unfortunately, though she's an excellent caregiver otherwise, his wife will not make dietary changes that would eliminate starches, grains and sugars, because my brother "absolutely loves" all things sugary, sweet, heavy in pastas and breading, etc., etc.
    She and I are not at all close, so there's no way I can convince her that a dietary change would benefit them both. Neither of them are overweight, but again, the migraines, the Park's, her thyroid issues (she had to have most of it removed decades ago, before I ever knew her)---I wish I could get it through to her, to them, that changing their way of eating to keto, carnivore, or ketovore would make such a huge difference, but again, I have to keep my mouth shut.
