What he said in the middle of the interview is that he didn't play a show while doing love scenes with Heath. He felt the moment because the character did fit on him. I really love this approach because it's not about labeling himself as gay or straight, but only honestly saying that opening your heart to the love of a human is something that reaches you so deep, which is wonderful.
I love how he says Heath just made him feel comfortable. So cute :) Absolutely love this movie, and could watch it again and again. The movie is not about the 'sex', it's about the love, which I like. Especially between to males, amazing!
When I watched Jake in other movies I thought he just like any other Hollywood actor, but after seeing him in Brokeback Mountain I realized he was much more than that. He is an amazing person.
Haha he thought it might have been heath's ''australian background'' that was causing him to be so comfortable around him :) aww i think it would be his welcoming tone of voice and how humble and genuine he is
isn't it sad how he dies in the movie and "Heath" is left to mourn, but in reality, it was Heath that died and Jake was left behind to mourn his death. Almost like the movie came to life in a backwards sort of way.
@@markjosephcayanan9504 why are you trying to strawman me? I never said it isnt possibly to deeply care about someone you are not romantically involved with - so this is not relevant. Be that as it may, obviously you cannot compare jake's grief for heath ( a colleague he worked with) to that of Enis's for Jack, who was his lover for yearss on end and his soul mate.
I don't know what it is.. but anytime a straight guy can play as a gay or bisexual character , it makes them seem like such an amazing actor. They were both so amazing in this movie... This is going to be the type of movie that sticks with me.
I do believe that their relationship was past platonic.. He can't reminisce without his voice braking after so many years... anyone who has lost someone significant in their lives would understand, regardless of how many years have gone by.
As the song for Lucky Luke goes, "Lonesome Cowboy, Lonsesome Cowboy" ... Seriously, I felt that loneliness projected through the movie, which makes it especially realistic and beautiful ... and sad as well.
@Fluff4232 he was ACTING. it was an ACT. and a rather beautiful one at that. it was a great movie. just because he was required to kiss another man in a film doesn't mean he's willing to do it again in real life. it just shows that both jake gyllenhaal and heath ledger were each passionate about their ACTING.
@Paxism20 You're technically right that he portrayed a bisexual man in the movie because he was with Anne Hathaway & Heath Ledger... but that doesn't mean he was actually a bisexual. A lot of gay guys get with girls as a cover.. so bisexuality is sometimes just a front, even though homosexual is what they really are. But again, this could be debated.. so not sure! But either way, I was just explaining to someone that he's not gay in real life, it was just for a movie role.
I love how people use like 50 "You know"s and "I mean"s in interviews. It's kinda... funny. ;D One of the greatest movies I've ever seen, if it wasn't that cruel in the end, it would be my Top 1, but having THAT much pain afterwards was ... hard. :(
who ever counts all the "likes" in this entire interview gets a video clip of his request for me. Every topic and song that comes to mind. Go! Joking aside (and I'm not joking about the clip by the way), a very moving video of a very wonderfull film. Thanx 4 uploading.
+MarshingTheMellow ! you are a very impressive person :] name a movie or a ship from a tv show and I'll edit and post a public clip with a link to your channel in the credits. Go for it :}
+MarshingTheMellow ! lol never heard of it but do you have a couple/character/ship you'd like me to focus on? and a song? or a song of my choice? let me know and I'll digg some info about that :}
Well, a focus on Brian Finch would be great, and could you use Ten Tonne Skeleton by Royal Blood (It's my favourite song.) Anything else is just up to you :)
@Paxism20 of course not, if you are referring to Jack. You can completely see his disappointment and what he is really seeking for when he is dancing with Anne when they first meet. Most likely, he portrayed a gay man, not a bisexual man, regardless if he had a kid or not, because both men did. There are certain lines in the movie which rise red (and important) key hints. Just saying.
You know the game they play in "How I met your mother" when Teds students take a shot every time Robin says "but umm..."? Do the same thing here but with the word "like" and you'll get drunk for sure. No offence to Jake though, he's a great actor :P
hhahhahahaha I was like wtf? grandpa booty??!? wtf is this guy talking about? so I decided to click your link. you did not disappoint. That subliminal grandpa booty was awesome. lmfao I was lost in Jake's eyes...
@chinahands100 I know there are lesbian actresses lol.. my point was that when STRAIGHT actresses play a lesbian role, no one says anything. But when a straight male plays a gay role, everyone assumes that he's actually homosexual. & I find that silly. And as for you finding Brokeback dull & overhyped, that's cool.. your opinion! It is a slow paced movie.. which isn't for everyone! But I think it fits the story perfectly.
I really like the way he talks, I mean like... you know what I mean like someone who's not used to interviews... Just kidding, he got alot better later, just needed some experience.
people talk about actors being brave for taking up a role that challenges sexuality but it's really not about bravery. They're actors and to be a good actor you don't care about what people think about you offscreen, you just commit yourself to the character your playing and hope that you give the film justice.
@funnyflyingdutchgirl He's not homosexual in real life... he just portrayed a gay man in a movie... just because he played a gay guy doesn't mean he's gay in real life.. that's really stereotypical, & people only say it about male actors! When girls do lesbian scenes, no one thinks twice..
I believe there is a strong parallel (and connection) between *_Brokeback Mountain_* and *_Call Me By Your Name_* --- and it most definitely is political which they [societal acceptance to any degree] need to be. [In the USA] _BM_ got people talking about gay relationships and being gay --- even if much of the talk was 'joking' about it. And _CMBYN_ was able to get a lot of people recognizing that gays can be just like anyone else --- but different in the sense of blue vs. brown eyes, blond vs. black hair, or left- vs. right-handedness --- and this is the way it should be. Different, but the same. And as far as reproduction/having offspring, there's always adoption and/or surrogate pregnancies by the willing. Both movies connected with society at large for the [eventual] good.

he isn't homosexual but he has said in an interview that if it would happen with a guy he probably wouldn't mind
lol ✨nice✨
I loved this movie. Jake said it right, it wasnt about sexuality, it was about Love. Which made it a great movie, sad but great.
Ah, 240p we meet again......

Yeah… and I think they were close too cuz I think Jake is Heath and Michelle Willems’s daughter’s godfather.
Yeah, only they were not gay lovers in real life? So I don't think Heath's death impacted jake the way Jack twist's death impacted ennis.
@@SludgeMan90 who knows

That's so true. I'm happy someone so cool could do such a role.
The movie is based on a short story of the same name by Annie Proulx and it really is a short story it's only 58 pages long.
