kinda thrown out by the comments of the owner about interior quality. My experience is that the Audis have fantastic interior quality and I find the BMWs too plasticy and lightweight in comparison. Design is nice but the quality is not on par

Same here. I have a '14 plate RS4 B8.5 and it's interior is bang on. No squeaks, or rattles. It's simple and not over complicated. The only part which is showing its age is the MMI screen. I've been toying with the idea of upgrading it all with an android auto system, but I'm hesitant it might look like a computer in the cabin with some massive screen.

@@AlgorhythmKid agree, the new VAG, BMW or Merc may look a bit glossier but the quality doesn't hold up compared to this era of motoring. The fact these have seats which say RS4 whereas a lot of the newer cars just stick with generic seats across the range talks volumes regarding cost cutting

Thank you Reg, another good video.
M340i touring is faster to 60 than this 2013 RS4.
Also much nicer inside, more room for his family stuff, etc .... It's not even an M car either hahah !!!
I think this is a case of 'emperor's new clothes' .... It's not like somebody buys a car and say 'this is shit wish I had bought something else' lol, so this owner was ALWAYS going to try and justify why this car is better than any of his other options, even if deep down he knows it's not the best option.
Each to their own of course, but I'd rather have an M car than this boat. Never liked Audi steering, or gearboxes, and I have never looked at V8's through rose-tinted spectacles either, I just take every car's engine for what it is and judge it accordingly. There are some amazing 4 cylinder engines, although I have always loved straight 6 engines personally. As Reg says, it's so easy to drive, so planted, great if that is what you want out of a car. Personally I like a car to move around, and I like it to be wild and need taming.
Driven a few of these RS4's and they are not for me, but if Lewis loves it, then that is all that matters.

@@goodlife39 1) It was pointing out a similar price point vehicle, which could do everything the Audi could, and in most area's, better.
      2) I called it a boat because compared to it's competitors it does handle like a boat, that is a well known fact, and if you actually drive one and have driven many of it's competitors like I have, you would know the truth.
      3) I don't like Audi steering, because it's not as good as a RWD car for feel. BMW's are not perfect, never said they were, but the E46 M3 for example from the early 2000's is a much better steer than this. Which BMW 'fugly' design are you referring to, old cars which were around when this Audi was, or the new models ?
Old M cars sounded fantastic, and even M lite's up to 2018 sounded fantastic, until 2018 when OPF's were forced on all cars, so ALL modern cars sound worse not just BMW's. The good thing is, BMW's do not have soft limiters like Audi's.
Calling me a fanboy but not really using any factual evidence to back up your opinion, makes you the biggest fanboy in this whole comments section.

@@DjNikGnashers B8 is stiff shit. Boat. xD
B8 steering is sharp like hell, a lot more than old E46 crap(non reliable in addition), mate wake up.
I had a lot bmw/Audis and i have almost everything what you said in opposite.
Manual transmissions in Audis were WAAAAY better than BMW. (my e39 530D manual had shit transmission in compare to 6 speed Audi's quattro transmissions from these times), same my E46 330D manual. Since 6 speed manuals in BMW E60/E90 era, they AT LEAST started making precize transmission lever mechanizm.
E46 was just rubbish it was worse than A4 B6 in every fcking way. Seat position was very bad, steering wheel was in weird position, awd system was rubbish, body stiffnes was rubbish, old dangerous car.
Like i said, i can tell you everything in opposite.
      V8 in 90s/2000s in Audi was pinnacle of german's V8, only M5 E39 had something similar. S8 D2 had 360 hp n/a V8 which was whipping the floor with mediocre 740i V8s.
One thing is what i love from BMW. M57. What a madness diesel engine.

@@bapr3887 I agree, manual transmissions on BMW's are not as good as Audi, I have had several manual BMW's and they were all a bit clunky.
E46 M3 was a superb car for it's time, the seating position was perfect, and the steering wheel was not in a weird position at all, and as for AWD, it never came in AWD 'mate' it was always RWD what are you going on about ?
I have driven a couple of RS4's from the era, and they were not nice to drive at all imo, I'd much rather have an oversteering RWD car, than an understeering boat.
The 740i was not a sports car was it, it was a massive luxury barge so you cannot compare it to an RS4. The 740i was a lot better at what it was designed to be, it a massive, comfortable, luxurious, saloon, which the RS4 was not even close to competing with, because it was not designed to be such a vehicle ....
I quite liked the OG S3 with the 1.8 Bam engine, apart from the interior trim rattles that every one I have driven seemed to have, which I never got with my E36's E91's and now M140i (although I do get a slight tailgate rattle occasionally).

@@DjNikGnashers I was talking about E46 not only obut heavy, 1500-1550 kg M3 E46. Steering wheel is in weird position in E46, not in direct line to driver, for me its just very bad. Position is very high in mechanical seats, but in electric seats its absurdly high, car with driver position for grandma. E39 had a lot better driver position, but not as good as mighty Audis from this era, they had position just perfect. Position + tranmission work making at least 50% of "how car drives".
B8 in just Sline suspension setup is very stiff almost too stiff, so why are you talking about "boat"? Maybye you need coilover car with track only oriented suspension ...
It wasnt understeering oh no, B8 turns perfect, its probably one of fastest car on earth to drive on public roads with different condition, in practice B8 is a lot faster in turn in race track than old E46(passat B5 diesel fwd was faster than 15 hp more powerfull 320D E46 on test...) and faster than E90. Rs5 B8 beat M3 E92 in almost every track in the world, where two of these cars was tested. A4 B8s quattro are very good for curves. learn to drive.
      I have compared E38 740i to S8 D2, not Rs4, that was reference to your V8 talk.

Your quote : Position + tranmission work making at least 50% of "how car drives". LOL no it doesn't, that's just what YOU think makes a car good to drive.
Steering, chassis balance, suspension, and power delivery are much more important than being sat like a young boy racer with your arse on the floor of the car.
I prefer being a bit higher up, because you have a much better view, and can place the car on the road much more accurately. It's not like a race track with chevron kerbs you can hop across, and you haven't got other cars coming towards you on the other side of the road either ffs 'mate' :-))
There are many other cars I love too, but the 2000-2002 era RS4 B5 is not one of them. Also, it had a V6 didn't it ? Not a V8. I am comparing 'competitors' at the time, which was the E46 M3, so I think you are getting a mix mixed up 'mate'.
