Kelly, you are so down to earth and relatable, like real people! Please don’t ever change! I’ve been so disappointed that some RUclipsrs once they start making more and more money they just completely change their personalities and lifestyle and lose the appeal that endeared them to their audience in the first place. ❤️ your channel thank you!
I did this same technique with my counter tops too, and I LOVE it! Almost every person who sees it for the first time thinks it’s granite! I used a light grey tinted primer, and then I used 4 different acrylic paints (same brand you used). The colors I used were black, light grey, silver, and then white and also rose gold to make veins running randomly through. I didn’t use a sponge, I used a plastic grocery bag that I cut in half. It was too much in my hand to use the whole bag to dab with. I used the same exact sealer that you did. They have been on since last summer, so almost a year, and they still look fantastic. I am careful not to put a hot pan or anything like that on them; essentially just treating them the same as I would with new Formica. I haven’t had one problem with them! I have an older mobile home, so I had that butcher block look Formica...I knew that even if I screwed it up, it was still going to be an improvement!! Like you said, any areas you feel aren’t quite right are extremely easy to correct. By the way, I just found your channel and have subscribed because I’m always on the lookout for mobile home remodeling channels! Thank you for posting!! 🥰
Thank you Kelly, never knew you could paint counter tops marble. it came beautiful. Can't wait to see the rest. can I just say I absolutely love you and your moms relationship, you two are just so sweet and loving. Even though she's not on camera you can feel her love for you and the kids, you're very lucky.
Beautiful. I did mine but I used the clear miniwax and the darn thing turned yellow. I thought it was the white color because mine was similar?! Anyway I sanded and I was gonna do a dark as I’m worried about a recurrence? What do u suggest??🤷🏼♀️
I could not decide which video had the best "granite" so I watched several of them a few times. My head was spinning! You are the winner! Not only did yours look the best, you explained everything clearly and down to earth. I will be doing this tomorrow. Bye-bye bad counters!
It looks very pretty! One word of caution this is NOT a food safe surface. I was a kitchen and bath designer for a long time and there is no sealant that is truly food safe you can buy at a big box retailer. These chemicals are toxic. Most people use a cutting board so it may not be an issue. Again it looks beautiful 😍
Beautiful!! This proves you can have a higher end look that’s budget friendly. Thanks for sharing sweet Kelly. Wishing you and your beautiful babies a very blessed and wonderful day ❤️
Wow I would have never guessed the backsplash was stick on! Amazing job with the budget friendly kitchen. Can’t wait to see the new backsplash. The counters look great
I did this a while back in my single wide but I did a tan and brown granite look. It looked amazing! I have a video on it as well. It held up well and still to this day my brother in law lives in that trailer and it still looks good. You did great😊
You were one of the first we watched when we were researching this! So cool! I thought it was so beautiful! I linked your video down below for them to watch as well 😊
@@KellysKorner08 awe thanks girl 💓💓 I've been watching while my kids are sleeping for a nap so I had the sound turned down . Btw my friend recently did hers the same colors as yours and it looks so bright and beautiful. Back when I did mine the grey wasn't a huge hit like it is now .
Looks so good!! I live in a single wide mobile home, I have dark green counter tops, I hate it! Single mom so I can't afford new counter tops either. This would be easy for me. I'm glad you did a video on it! It's so fun and exciting to see affordable and easy diys on something you can't afford to do otherwise. 😁👍
Wow... it looks amazing... thanks for sharing this DIY... really love watching your videos... can't wait to see how the kitchen turns out after everything is done... 👍👍👍👍👍
It turned out really good!! I did this to my counters last year, and I love it; it has held up great, too. The only thing I did differently than you was I used a plastic Walmart bag instead of a sponge. I cut it into 4 pieces though, because it was too hard to control what I was doing with the full size bag. One other thing I did was I bought a bottle of rose gold acrylic paint and used that to make “veins” here and there across the counter tops. Anyway, you have made your home so beautiful, and welcoming. Thank you for sharing it with us!
This is an awesome idea, i wouldn't mind doing this if i actually had counterspace... i have like zero counter space, its like this little rectangle right next to the fridge. Though i would probably do darker colors but this looks amazing. I cant wait to see the rest. Ive watched so many of those shows wirh house repairs, etc to know what i want in a house when i finally buy one.
This looks so beautiful! I never knew you could do this! I’m a renter but, I have friends who just bought a house and they have Formica countertops I’m going to show them this maybe they would like to update their kitchen!
I bought a kit to do mine. However, after a few months there was some water on the counter and there was a loaf of bread sitting on the counter. I didn't realize it was wet under it and it sat there for a few days. When I eventually moved it, I dried the counter with a paper towel, but later that evening when I washed the counters with a sponge, the paint came up in chips. I'd put a few coats of their topcoat. Luckily, I'm sure it can be fixed and a real tough topcoat applied, like the polycrylic!
It looks wonderful! I've been watching videos for my upcoming transformation of my countertops. We just had someone paint the cabinets a charcoal gray.
This has worked really well, it looks fantastic. I think if you use wooden or plastic chopping/preparation boards and be careful around the sink area this should last a long time.
I used this diy video to do my countertops and they came out amazing! It was my first time doing this and it turned out better than I expected. I wish I could post a picture lol.
WOW!!! The counters came out great!!! 👏🏼 I’m thinking about redoing my kitchen and I would of never thought to go this route, thank you so much for sharing!!🤗👍🏼💕 Time to upgrade!!!
Looks great!!! I painted my cabinets and used the rustoleum chalk paint and top coat in linen white. It worked great!! It’s been a few months and they are still great! (Just incase you were still thinking about what you were going to use)
That looks so so much better! I was going to comment that I hope you are removing the red back splash, but I see you are! I think it will look so much more appealing when finished!
i think grey cabinets with the white back splash would look really good!U could always paint them 1 of the grey colors u used in the granite,&use the other grey color for the island.i love white cabinets, but they get dirty so quickly.plus,i think if they were 1 of those grey colors, the white backsplash would pop!
Love it! I also rent and been at my place for 15yrs but I don't want to go threw the process of undoing everything when I finally move, your video is tempting tho
Hi, Kelly! I completed this project this morning, and it turned out beautiful! I tagged you on Instagram so you can see how mine turned out. Thanks for the inspiration. I own a modular, and I definitely needed to update. So pleased with the result. 🥰
this is a very nice method. I did this on my counter tops it came out fabulous. the only thing you have to watch out for is not putting anything hot onto surface. my roommate is careless and put a hot plate on top and now I have a ridiculous looking mark and in order to fix it guessing I have to do all the processes again. smh
Hey there friend. Girl, I remember when you did a diy on white contact paper on your countertops. I so did that in my house. Loved it!! This looks amazing!! Super high end and cheap as ever!! I'm so doing this!! Now I know I can make my kitchen look awesome. Thanks girl!! Have an amazing week.
This is a great project. However, a few steps were missed... 1. You should always always sand with a 220 grit first. This will allow the base coat to adhere to the countertops. 2. Speaking of base coat, you must make sure it is acrylic and not latex. Latex over time will peel. 3. For the topcoat/sealer resin is the best choice. It is more time consuming but will never crack or peel.
Also, whatever color you want to be the prominent color should be the LAST color you use if using sponges. You can always use your primary colors first with a roller and then sponge the other colors on after it dries.
Hi Kelly, I am curious to know how well your countertops have held up since you refinished them. I am in the process of doing mine and I would like to know how well the last. Thank You.
I did this in my house about 4 months ago.... I’m currently having to scrape them all with razor blades to remove it bc it started gumming up and patching everywhere. Polycrylic doesn’t hold up to cleaner very well apparently. Totally bummed about it. 😞

I didn’t even think about that. Glad you said something cause I don’t want to do it now Lol!
Who puts or cuts their food directly on their counter? Always use a plate or napkin or cutting board.

They also have these peel and stick floor tiles called floor pops or something like that and I’ve seen a lot of videos. Looks very east and cheap
I love the look!💕
Beautiful! Just wondering if you could use browns/creams rather than grays and white?
Awesome job!!!
Did you have to sand it at all before the primer? If not that saves me time.. Lol thanks
Would you say it’s okay to do this over granite countertops?? And how does it hold with hit things
So this wont wear off? Even after wiping down the counters with cleaner? It looks beautiful!
It should hold up since it’s sealed.
Hi Kelly, I am curious to know how well your countertops have held up since you refinished them. I am in the process of doing mine and I would like to know how well the last. Thank You.
Ours are still holding up. We’ve not had any issues yet 💗
