UPDATE: Since it has come to my attention that the background music in this video is too loud and many viewers are finding it difficult to follow along with the tutorial, I have created a new version of this tutorial with NO BACKGROUND MUSIC. Hope this helps, and sorry for the inconvenience. I definitely will keep this in mind for my next videos :) Link to updated video: ruclips.net/video/REMB7YyvE2k/видео.html
It has come to my attention that the background music might be distracting for some viewers. I will keep this in mind for my next video. Apologies ahead of time for those who do so! ❤️️
I stumbled upon this during my 3am thoughts of how I was going to get my students to take notes. We received word that the copy center was down and have relied heavily on them for printing out notes. What a Godsend?! They loved this - better than taking traditional notes. They were able to show their creativity in so many ways! Definitely sharing :) Thank you, sincerely!
I just stumbled across you from a search for a welcome back station online option. Thank goodness for the internet - you are amazing - I love all your ideas! And I ditto what everyone else says about the free templates. I will tell every educator I know about your channel!
Gina Devoe So glad it was helpful. Sorry about the music, unfortunately there is no way to remove it at this point. Definitely kept this in mind for my other videos (I do have a different upload on how to add tabs to digital notebooks which you might also like!)
Question - how do you add assignments to the notebook daily as the semester rolls along? Or do you make the notebook ahead of time with all of the assignments for the unit before you give students a copy?
GREAT JOB PRESENTING THE INFORMATION,, BUT PLEASE DO NOT USE BACKGROUND MUSIC. IT WAS TOO DISTRACTING. THANK YOU AND I LOOK FORWARD TO MORE OF YOUR VIDEOS.
What if you want them to use the same notebook but want to grade what they did for each day? So Monday they submit and I grade it. But if I give it back wont it get rid or the grade I entered into the google classroom gradebook? Is there a way I can use the same notebook but grade it multiple time and keep the grades on record?
Hello 🙂 I just want to ask if is it possible to download the digital notebook into my device (if ever I've finished my notes and then I need to share it outside my google account)?
This was Outstanding...(thought the music was cool...thinking of Charlie Brown) Question(s): Once I send to students to start working on...Can I add something I forgot on the digital notebook? If so, how would I do that?
Michael Sandoval Omg your Charlie Brown comment made me laugh 😂 Sorry for the distracting music. I will do my best to create an updated version with no music soon! And in order to add extra slides after sending out the notebooks to students, the only way I can thunk of is using the SlipAndSlide add on.
Will this INB work with Schoology instead of Google Classroom as far as pushing it out to my students? I have and use the Goggle platform but I just don't have Google Classroom.
I love this tutorial, very well done. I am using your template to create a digital download Journal. I wanted to know if it is possible to change the background colors of each notebook? I did find the different notebook color options under format but I was not able to change the background colors while editing?
What do you think about giving the students a digital notebook that they cannot edit? And then providing them with a separate digital notebook that they can use to type in their responses, notes, and answers? I just feel nervous about giving them the digital notebook and having them tell me that their slides/questions/assignments were deleted “accidentally”... So I was thinking if the first digital notebook that I assigned (I’m going to do it weekly or every other week) was just filled with the instructions/ directions/ examples etc., then I could give them a template notebook with blank pages that they could fill in and submit... thoughts?
Hello I am a teacher from Puerto Rico and I really loved your video. The only thing is that I have 4 different grades can I do one notebook share it with one grade and change the activities for the rest of the grades.
If the purpose is to take notes form class lectures, readings, and observations, wouldn't Google Keep, or Microsoft OneNote, or Evernote better meet the need? Why make the slide 8.5 x 11 if it's not going to be printer. If it is standard, or widescreen, there is more displayed on the screen without having to scroll.
Great tutorial! I was wondering if you, as the teacher, are able to add material to all the students' lab books at once after you have originally assigned it in Google Classroom?
I was thinking about how to add to them as well. I think you could make one or two new slides that you assign, and then the students can copy those into their digital notebook. You would have to show them the first couple of times so they know how to do it, and not link it to the original...but I think that is what I am going to do.
Hi, Great video. Thanks so much. Question? If I make a copy of my original and assign it, does that mean the students still need to make a copy of their own?
If you choose "make a copy for each student" when you assign it on Google Classroom then the students do not need to make copies, it will be done automatically for them
How do you make it so that students can't move the cells/pictures and such that you don't want moved? So your highlighter, underline, boxes. But then have area for them to type?
The easiest way I have found is to complete the slide with they layout you want, save it as an image and create a new slide with the image as the background. Add a text box in the spots you need the students to type in.
@@cateastbranch2125 That's how I do my foreign language worksheets. I create for example a worksheet that has images of pets, with a box for typing in the answer. Then what I do save each slide as an image. Open a new slide and insert the image and create text boxes for each part. I've taught them how to change the font etc. I forgot one space and the kids figured out making a text box to fix it.
@@susansteinbach6353 Hi Susan and Britt - there was no link when viewing through my school email account but when I went onto my personal one it is there. Give it a try!
Ok, so when I make a copy for my students will they see any edits or new slides I change or add to my template? What If I don't want them to jump ahead in their notebook and I add the lessons/activities as we move along?
If I have already assigned the notebook in Google classroom and then decide to add a new template or assignment to my original in google slides will it automatically show up in the student version?
Hi Jaime, were you still not able to get a copy of the template? Just in case, here you go: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Interactive-Digital-Notebook-Template-Google-Slides--5700568
how can you make parts of the notebooks uneditable while other parts the students could edit such as the title of the unit permanent but let them put their name in
Go to view and click master. Click the text box and options pop up. An actual text box, the students can NOT change, but they can edit the placeholder options. Hope this helps.
@@jennyj2995 Thank you, so I don't have to create everything in the master slide area then correct? I can just design and create in the regular view, but if I want them to edit some things and not others, I switch over the the Master slide to create "locked items"? thanks!
Hi Sharia, only if they have permission (i.e. if the notebooks are shared with the multiple students). They can do that themselves (have them share it with the student they are collaborating with)

Flor de María E. Hi! This has already been addressed in the comment above, but thank you for your concern.
I homeschool, I've been using composition notebooks for ages. But now with these hints and tricks I don't need notebooks that they always lose.
