- There are two fertility pills. Letrozole and Clomid. But which one is best? When should you use one versus the other? Find out on today's episode of InfertilityTV
In this corner, the granddaddy of all fertility drugs we have Clomid. First to come to market in 1967, Clomid has been used more than any other fertility drug in history.
In this corner, sassy newcomer -- Letrozole - known by fans as Femara. Letrozole was first approved for medical use in 1996 - almost 30 years after Clomid. Initially used as a treatment for breast cancer, letrozole has only been used as a fertility medication since 2001 and only used commonly since 2006
Both contenders are given as an oral medication. Both can be monitored at home with an ovulation predictor test or in the doctor’s office with blood tests and ultrasounds.
In Match #1 - Letrozole faces off against Clomid for the treatment of women with PCOS. A massive study of almost 800 women with PCOS found more women ovulated with letrozole, more women got pregnant and delivered with letrozole with no difference in the rate of multiple pregnancies. The winner: Letrozole
Match #2 - Clomid versus letrozole for women with unexplained infertility. In a study of 900 women, less women got pregnant with letrozole and less women had a delivery with letrozole. There was no difference in the risk for multiple pregnancies

I conceive in my 3rd round of clomid ( I think it is also lack of sperm supply, hubby work in another city) but I got pregnant with twins, but lost one of the baby in 7th week, now I have a super healthy girl 6yo

I so greatly appreciate this video. I have PCOS and did 4 rounds of clomid back in 2018, because my doctor didn't feel comfortable Rx'ing a breast cancer treatment. Years later (now 2021), my doctor is willing to give it a try having seen more promising results. Every part of me is screaming that this will be what works. This backs up what I've been saying to him since my first appt all those years ago.

I am not aware of any data that folic acid will improve the chances for ovulation. At IVF1, we recommend testing to determine the underlying cause for anovulation first. If no correctable cause can be found, then we resort to fertility medications like Clomid or Letrozole or Follistim

Sir, i took letrozole 2.5 mg this cycle. But on 15th days i had severe cramps and a heavy feeling on my left overy side. Did i ovulated? Or did the follicle turned into a follicular cyst? Plz let me know ur opinion
some people have side effects some have headache some have hot flesh it's just the side effects
What letrozole really does is significantly lower your estrogen (specifically your estradiol, doctors may refer to it as E2) this is why u may have symptoms similar to menopause

There isn't as much information about tamoxifen. I have not seen any studies comparing tamoxifen to letrozole or clomid. There is evidence that it can be used to induce ovulation

Homeopathy is a scam. Do not spend any money on those remedies. See a fertility specialist to have testing done to look for actual causes for fertility problems and then discuss different treatment options
