I can see people ranking the Ravens Top 3 or Top 5. In a vacuum, they lost three OL guys. But Ravens fans know that Monken's switching to more inside/outside zone, which those guys didn't fit, and they weren't great anyway. Lamar made them look better than they were. The Henry signing in a plus, featuring Likely and Andrews together is a plus, but relying on Bateman as your #2 WR is not. Losing MacDonald is significant. We don't have a marquee edge rusher. So I get it. I have them top three, because this is Lamar's second year in the Monken offense and when he stays healthy, we usually win the division.
For most of last season the Ravens looked like the best team in the league. Which makes that loss to the Chiefs so much harder to understand, but also tempers expectations for this season. The losses you list year to year as you note are significant, and provides enough doubt for them this one. How the new O-line plays is the biggest source of doubt for me.
If they’re out of someone’s top 5, that person is insane. Adding Derick Henry to a team that made the AFC Championship is going to be awesome to watch.
Finally someone remembers that the Ravens were the 1 seed and dominated dozens of teams last year. You'd think they were 9-8 the way people talk about them nowadays.
Teams that fail to impress in the playoffs will always tumble down the rankings. It's simplistic, but in football, winning will always trump subjective evaluation in deciding the better team, for better or worse.
@@markmurphy558 the Bills lose in the divisional round ever year and come out Super Bowl favorites somehow. Mina just so you the Lions ranked third in passing completion of over 20 yards. Just started watching this one so I don't know if you say it here but I've watched a couple where you have stated they were 31st. For some reason the comments was off on the one I was going to respond to so I figured I'd find you and correct you before you do it again. They were very explosive not ranked towards the bottom but towards the top. That should help you evaluate them a little more even though you do give them love. They're going to be unstoppable after fixing their weak spots in their secondary and cruise do a Super Bowl in the start of a dynasty.
The Broncos are the only team where I can't talk myself into thinking that they can good this year. The state of that team is just a dark void of misery.
For your falcons take if this was year 2-3 of this coach i get what your saying when they first picked penix i was pissed but looking at what they did bringing in kirk and his eventual replacement in 2 years was the right move yes they still need a pass rusher but they are looking to the future not just this year and pass rushers and wr are in every draft now good QBs are not im not as high on penix but if they are and they see him being good when we won’t be drafting this high again i get the pick
Nice brain trust in the house today with Mina and Mallory. A lot of sharp takes! If Joe Burrow stays healthy, which is a real question given his career to date, they will finish higher than everyone is ranking them .... I've seen Burrow go toe to toe with my guy Patty Mahomes in the playoffs and not blink.
Great episode. Great energy/chemistry and I enjoyed Mallory's GoT knowledge and the podcast back in the day and kind of forgot about everything so I may give House of The Dragon pod a go. Love her sports knowledge too. I thinking Giants are going to be the worst team in the NFL this year and it won't be terribly close (barring multiple catastrophic injuries on other teams). Jets still miss the playoffs in my view. Rodgers and the team will fold at the first (or maybe third) sign of on-the-field adversity. A lot of compelling story lines this year.
Enjoy these segments but I think you’d get a lot more variety in the rankings if you had the guest pick between 3 teams. Or even let them have one or 2 “phone a team” when they don’t like any of the picks they could introduce another. I could tell on Kyle’s segment sometime her didn’t like either option a few times. @@matteagan1288 That's understandable, but what's being understated is that, unlike Burrow, and Purdy, and Hill and all of these other younger QBs, Lamar was strapped with the Greg Roman offense for four years. People think the eagles are some big mystery but they weren't. They had no blitz solutions in their offense aside from "Jalen improvises." That stopped working, and they did nothing to adjust. They had ZERO hot routes ffs.
And the confusion over the Falcons continues. Honestly ppl just should not have been so shocked with the ATL pick. The entire offensive coaching staff AND the GM flew from ATL to SEA in February for a 5 hour private workout with Penix and came away saying that they were blown away. I read/watched over a hundred mock drafts and 90pct just penciled in Dallas Turner and moved on to talk about the Bears and Jets. Also given this draft did not have a SINGLE defender picked until the midpoint (also Latu not Turner first) tells you that EVERY GM felt the same way in the league. And yes, yes Cousins hurt feelings etc never happened and all reports are that they are getting along great.
The confusion comes from them signing Cousins for a huge amount of money. why draft a high profile QB after just signing one for $100m guaranteed? it comes off as them not knowing what they're doing and just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. If you're worried about Cousins injury history, why sign him in the 1st place?

An actual Derrick Henry reference and the Ravens actually ranked in the top 2 where they belong. ❤Of course it would take a fellow Ravens fan for this to happen. 😂 BTW I would disagree with Molly about the Bengals being division rivals that makes me nervous. Lamar owns Joe Burrow and the Bengals. The team to worry about is the Steelers who always seem to have something go their way when they play Lamar. Like last year when the team had 5/7 drops with 3 of them that would have been TDs. With competent QB play this year from Russ, the Steelers will finish ahead of Bengals in the division this year
@@truthbearer7891 I agree to some extent but the Steelers are the irrelevant rivals who fight for bragging rights and for Tomlin's legacy. They aren't an actual playoff threat. In my honest opinion, I think Harbaugh stopped caring about prepping the Ravens to go all out against the Steelers for that reason. That dirty team can injure your star players just out of spite. Rest your starters, play smart and safe. Worry about the real contenders of the AFC.
@@jdajayi92 I think you could say that about the Steelers when their QB was Mason Rudolph or Kenny Pickett. Despite ppl trying to bury Russ the last 2 years, it's a more than plausible scenario where he has a bounce back season and where they could be a problem. I see the Steelers as a team with a ceiling of as many as 12-13 wins which makes those H2H gamses potentially relevant. Of course I expect the Ravens to be so dominant this year they could still win the division even getting swept by the Steelers again and go 14-3. But it will def decrease margin of error.
Wow Mina the lack of respect for the Steelers is mind blowing but you're entitled to your opinion so with that being said let me plead my case for the Pittsburgh, Everyone going off QB and Offense Production I get that but you telling me that Russell Wilson is not good at all based on the last few years but give Desean Watson, Aaron Rodgers, Trevor Lawrence and Baker Mayfield a pass confuses me you say Cleveland defence is the reason they're are so high but what elite quarterback did they beat last year that was missing Major players, but anyway hears my one point there's more but I'll give you this one our Offense sucked for the last 4 years and we still some how win games enough said now we have a capable quarterback and you give us no chance😮....
Mina like most in the media have buried Russell Wilson. Nothing could make the media look more foolish than Russ leading the Steelers to a 12+ win season while still being in the top 5/6 in TDs and passer rating like he was all last season when they pretended he didn’t bounce back from his first year in Denver

The Bucs disrespect is entirely predictable … but I expected better Mina.
Fast forwarded to them realllly thinking hard about the Browns over Bears for 4 seconds before they started talking about HOD...and thats when I turned it off. Another shit pod by Mina, its becoming the norm lately
Enjoyed this, but is the guest paid by the word?
Hey Mina can we please update the Jets logo? You’re using an old one, they updated it this offseason: Thanks
