- After cranking up the torsion bars on my 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 a few years back I decided to explain just how it's effected the truck and how it rides.

All the people calling that truck rotten should come over to Ontario, Canada. We’ll show you what rot looks like lol
Lmao right? In my neck of the woods this is considered "good condition for the year" 😂
Most the people commenting aren’t from up north, if you’re in northern Michigan or Canada this truck is mint
Got to love a nice truck and a cute doggy :D
The truck is a bit of a pile but I agree with you about the dog. She's the best!
Awesome Husky. Ours are rescues..big personalities..love to talk. They run the show..haha
That's awesome! We got ours from a family that didn't want her anymore. I cannot imagine why, she is just the coolest dog ever!
Hey so my chevy Silverado 1500 1993 4x4 has torsion bars but its supper raked in the ront end like i mean really raked should i give it a couple cranks
I thank God I live in Texas and have never seen a rust box 😂
So
Use Ford f 250 torsion bar key it’s offset by 30 degrees so you don’t over stress torsion bar. I did it to a 1500 avalance works great. Must alter alliment becuse of leveling of front end. It did wear out tie rod ends faster. Big heavy tires 185 60 17 Also contributed to tie rod end failures used autozone lifetime warranty for front end parts
How does a different key put less stress on the torsion bars if it raises it the same amount?
That’s a nice road to ride bring my four wheeler out too
It's one of my favorites!
Love your dog..looks like it's your dogs truck lol
Haha yeah she enjoys it!
Does it ride ruff ?????
did that to mine brand new 11 2500 hd then took to 4x4 shop. had adjustment made and no problems. rides rougher but wtf! 110.000 mi. party on Garth
Haha yeah mine were to wore out to make the ride hard.
How many inches total did you get when you cranked it up with factory keys? The previous owner of my 2007 Sierra Classic put in 2.5" lift keys, and while it looks good, it rides pretty bad. I'm thinking about reinstalling the factory keys and dropping them down to about 2". I have 285/70R17 tires and want to make sure there is still plenty of clearance.
Around 2 inches if I recall correctly. Could you just do the opposite of what I did and back the aftermarket bolts down to relax the bars with the aftermarket keys? I would think you could get down to about where I lifted mine up too?
@@SwankyCatProductions That's what I had thought about doing, but after looking at them, one side is completely down against the torsion bolt "nut", and the other side only has about 3 threads remaining. I think I'll have to use the factory keys to get any lower. Also, could you tell me what the height is on your front wheel well? I really like the stance of yours and would like to be at the same height. From the ground to the fender flare mine is currently at 38.5" with 285/70R17 tires. It's 23.5" from the center of the hub to the top of the wheel well.
Living in MN, the rust/salt belt just kills our vehicles. The engines can run for a long time but they just fall through the frame😂
Oh yeah lol I expect it'll fall apart before the engine quits.
Wash your truck and get it sprayed cheap insurance
Oil your truck with old used transmission oil.
Well, seeing as how I had mine up for like 12 years I highly doubt it 😅 👍🏻
Haha yeah I've been doing it to most of my trucks. As long as you don't go overboard it's totally fine.
@@SwankyCatProductions yep 100%
Can i install torsion keys and metal spacers? Or its too much?
I've not looked into that at all. I know people will swap the keys for Ford keys since the angle is slightly more drastic.
If you raise the torsions up you've got to get it aligned coming from somebody is done it all his life
Yep I mentioned that. Wears the inside of your tread out real quick otherwise.
@@SwankyCatProductions actually that's from the toe out the camber goes negative also
Did you raise the back too
Nope
Good ol Wisconsin.
Haha yeah!
@@SwankyCatProductions I run an 05 Tahoe with a hitch hauler for my XR650L. Outta Eau Claire, bro.
Wouldn’t worry about it on that rusty pos it ain’t long for this world
Lmao you've obviously never been to Wisconsin. This is considered "good for the year". As long as the frame doesn't flex when you haul your ice shack you still send it.
@bfarm44 some of us don't need shaved ass perfect stuff and are still perfectly happy with what we have 👍
Holy rot
Welcome to Wisconsin lol this is considered "clean for the year" lmao.
@@SwankyCatProductions yeah mines getting to that point soon
Definitely will make it ride like shit
Uhh yeah if you over do it? I made that pretty clear, did I not?
@@SwankyCatProductions yes you did video was great
Rust ruined it
Yeah it's a pile lol
@@SwankyCatProductions still running 😎
