    I tested it a little: You can actually drop into the NavBeacon and then fly approximately 65 km out. Then log out to the Main Menu and log back in. Spawns PP ships all around you. So essentially you don't need to SC to get new ships - relogging does the trick. And by this you stay at your location between 60-100 kms.

    Thanks for the guide! Can I "pickle" these merit bonds?

    • @JohnDoe-zl6qw
      @JohnDoe-zl6qw  21 день назад

      "Pickle" as in save them up over time and then redeem them all at once? If that's what you're asking, the best answer I can offer is, _"I'm not sure."_ I know there are some things that, if not redeemed prior to the weekly server tick every Thursday, you lose them; I don't know if Merits are counted among them.
      At a minimum, if it is indeed a case of _"use em or lose em"_ at the weekly tick, you could at the very least save them up over a period of 7 days (assuming you started earning them on a Thursday and redeemed them the following Wednesday).
      Be aware, though, that any Merits redeemed and counted towards your rating with a Galactic Power NPC to whom you've pledged decay at the rate of 50% each week. For example, if you earned and redeemed with your Galactic Power NPC 100 Merits this week, then come Thursday morning after the server reset you'll only have 50 Merits to your credit.
      The idea behind it is it forces players to constantly have to prove themselves worthy of their rating level (and the perks that come with it) with their chosen Galactic Power by re-earning enough Merits week-to-week to maintain a desired rating. Fail to do so and your rating drops as your Merits decay. Essentially a loyalty test.
      If you're only earning Merits to unlock a unique module and don't care about maintaining a rating level over the long-term, common wisdom holds that you earn your 750 Merits in the 3rd week of your pledge. By redeeming them prior to that 3rd week's Thursday server tick, you go into your 4th week of being pledged with a rating of 3. This way you hit your 28th day of being pledged at the same time you've achieved the rating needed to unlock the module (both the time investment _and_ rating 3 are required for the unlock).
      If you redeem earlier than this and earn no further Merits (for example, redeeming them in your 2nd week rather than your 3rd), the Merit decay mechanic will leave you with too few Merits to hit rating 3 at the same time you reach your 28th pledge day. You'll be ineligible to unlock the module until you earn and redeem more Merits to bring you up to rating 3.
      However, Power Play 2.0 is slated for release in October. This will be a major reworking of the Power Play system. Included in this update will be a new 10-tier loyalty system that does not decay; once a Commander unlocks a tier, it's a permanent achievement. Whether it will still be called Merits or something else entirely is not known at present. Indications are there will be a variety of activities one can undertake to earn progress along this new 10-tier ladder. So it's possible Merit farming may become a thing of the past in a few weeks.

    But why? I never understood the purpose or appeal of power play.

    • @JohnDoe-zl6qw
      @JohnDoe-zl6qw  9 месяцев назад

      For many players there's no appeal beyond unlocking the unique modules offered by the Power Play NPCs (e.g. Prismatic Shields, Pack Hound Missile Racks, etc.). Even so, one must still jump through the hoops of reaching rating 3 with the Power Play NPC and pledging for 28 consecutive days to be eligible to purchase these items. Rating 3 requires redeeming 750 Power Play Merits; thus the video.

      At the very least the modules are worth it.

      Also because prismatic shields, Pacifier frag cannons, and cytoscramblers are OP.

    Wait, how can you fire Beam Laser without reducing your power? What ship you are using?

    • @fartex1
      @fartex1 5 месяцев назад +3

      he is most likely using a Krait Mk2 or a krait phantom ( i cant tell the difference on his hologram as i have never used one of those ships) they are very good at pve combat when engineered the right way!
      im using a corvette, one large and 2 medium lasers, also 2 small and 2 huge multicannons, and i dont lose power either. the trick is in engineering your power plant and your power distributor accordingly.
      you can engineer your beam lasers with effecient, making them draw less power, but losing dps, you can also add the experimental effect "flow control" so they draw 10% less power.
      you can do the same to your power distributor: " weapon focused" @grade 5 you get +60% capacity and +44% recharge rate for weapons only, comes at a cost to less recharge rate to other systems. again add flow control as experimental for less power draw on weapons.
      and last but not least: you can engineer your powrplant with " overcharged" wich wil give you +40% power generation at the cost of heat efeciency and a loss of you power plant module's integrety (hit points) of -25%
      now i have recently changed my engineering done on my corvette to put out max DPS, and only now, im sitting at a power loss, so i cant use all my weapons for days anymore, however, im killing enemies a lot faster... so yeah, its a trade off..
      hope this helped you a bit.
      fly dangerous, stay safe CMDR...
      Glory to mankind! o7

      @@fartex1 From the weapons, its a Krait MkII. It also has an SLF hanger, which the Krait Phantom doesn't have.

    • @JohnDoe-zl6qw
      @JohnDoe-zl6qw  21 день назад +1

      Krait MK II (which already has an outsized Power Distributor) with its PD engineered _Charge Enhanced_ + _Super Conduits_ experimental effect = near endless weapons capacitor (with 4 PIPs to weapons, of course). The Beam Lasers are engineered _Long Range_ + _Thermal Vent_ experimental effect.

    can you do the same method in a Fortified system??

    • @JohnDoe-zl6qw
      @JohnDoe-zl6qw  8 месяцев назад

      To the best of my understanding of Power Play, Fortified systems are a sub-set of Controlled system (i.e. a Fortified system is always also a Control system, as only Control systems can be Fortified). So this method should work there, as well.
