Hello D2! Really enjoy your videos my friend, I appreciate all your work.
As I understand it, the signals toward the top of the wave scanner which are often larger objects, are also more likely to be mechanical or electronic in construct too, such as canisters, bases, ships, satellites etcetera, is that right?
Also, a useful site I came across which seems to distinguish signal types by sound and sight, by CMDR Shellstrom is - wavescanner.net
Cheers!
thank you. I'm glad toy like me videos.
yes in my experience larger object are towards the top of the scanner and smaller once are toward to button
I didn't know of that site, but it is very useful. i'll pin this comment and add it to the video description.
You managed to explain something that I have never really understood how to read or use in an easy to understand way - thank you so much! o7
I follow only a small handful of RUclipsrs for Elite Dangerous, I can't think of a single video you have produced that wasn't hugely beneficial. I've only been playing for six weeks and you've helped me save a lot of time. Thanks for all of your help.
Another really important thing to remember is I've noticed rare materials are more likely to spawn in systems that have engineers regardless of planet surface percentages. Don't always go off of percentages, best to farm in a system that has an engineer in it as far as I can tell. Good rule of thumb IMO.
Low frequency (bottom) is natural materials and natural objects. High frequency (Top) is artificial objects/man made objects like bases, ships or salvage
Holy shit.. I thought that thing was just an aesthic for so fucking long. This is gonna make finding mats for engineers SO fucking much easier
Thanks for the video DEA
Thank you, life saver, no idea what the data was for before. Lot of time driving around aimlessly was spent before this video.
Thanks a ton for the quick guide. It's perfect for getting started in the SRV. Now I can explore with a lot less "WHERE IS ANYTHING?!"
1:30 in and you're already infinitely more descriptive than the Pilot Official Training tutorial videos.
I know this vid is old but It still helped me out. Thanks.
Very helpful. I hated this part of the srv now it makes sense.
This is yet another great video. I had a fair idea about the SRV scanner but this really cleaned it all up for me.
I have noticed in other videos your poor SRV usually takes a bit of a beating. Hehe. Trust me my friend, your not alone.
Thank you again for your excellent help. The system was a mystery to me. Your quality work along with the select group of Elite content creators have so helped me, and without the snarky comments of some in the forums to make me wonder why I was such a fool to now know the info myself. Being admonished to "Get Good!" does little for most players.
You help make a game with a moderately rigorous learning curve so accessible.
As a side note, and not to be mean, but why did the Devs make this scanner system so convoluted. Every time I am on a planet I feel like a radar operator from 1940 trying to decide if that weird squiggly line is a Storm, a flock of birds, or enemy planes. Here is an example planefinder.net/about/the-history-of-flight-radar/ of what the early operators had to work with. I personally see some definite similarities between the two.
Ah well. Once more into the Black. Thank you again, Sir!
Natural objects appear in the bottom half of the scanner. Man made objects appear in the upper part of the scanner
Thanks for the video. This was quite helpful!
I look for steam vents on planets like this ...there are normally materials close to the vents.
Thanks a ton. i just started playing. Very Helpful!
Love your videos mate they have helped me out quite a lot, keep up the good work you are doing for the community o7
Nice explanation. thanks.
How do you know what to pick up and what to leave
whats the keybind for scanning tho?
Are you on the Arsenic potato by any chance?
Ugh thank god for this video I wasted so much time last night with no clue of what I was doing. Do most planets have rocks! I was on an icy world and felt like there was nothing around.
thanks im in my own private session im in sol on titania ive found a diamond back explorer sitting on the planet? never seen that before
Very helpful, thanks! =)
as always a good one
Been told if was on top of radar then it was an electronic object, lower it's mineral
I still can't get over the fact that in a game like elite you can trade slaves and illegal weapons but can't buy a handful of cadmium. Screw that, you need to search for nickel and iron!
I don't want to detract from the value of the video, but which accent belongs to this man? Because it kind of kicks ass.
It's like Sean Connery without the tactless smouldering anger necessary to punch a woman for being disrespectful.
You've probably forgotten ever writing that comment, but it's quite a strong Danish accent
Sean Connery was from Scotland not Denmark.
So basically it doesn't operate like any radar or sonar or scanner system ever made, and is more just an indication of the RNG that Fdev uses of where to arbitrarily find placed crap that was rolled when you enter the zone. Good to know. Here I was thinking it was modelled on a basic sonar, or scanning system, and that minerals would at least follow a logical pattern of geological placements.
cry about it
Are you from Denmark?
yeah i am
Your ears do more than your eyes with that scanner.
Are you danish?
yeah. i am
Cool! I picked it up by your accent :) I'm from Sweden so we are neighbors ^^
Also, do you have a advice on how to avoid pirates while mining? Does low extraction sites pay off as well, or is it hazardous extraction sites that is the best?
the play is to openings OS why is this try opened band waves
My life is a lie just tought that the scanner was cosmetic XDDD
It sucks how much material gets wasted because they only let us store 1000. And it's always crap you never need but is super rare so you feel obligated to hold onto it. :(
+bashpr0mpt I know. But that will change with the update next month.
I can't with ur framerate
frontier need to fix the skittish driving of the SRVs are terrible.
Lol this channel is SO BASIC its embarrassing lol! Incredible people need these level of guidance!
