Thank you for the review. This sounds like a good leave-it-at-home laptop for research, writing, teaching, and photo-management projects in retirement. It's actually a handsome piece of machinery, but I can't imagine why anybody would give a hoot about its looks. I'd use a cardboard box if it had the features I need.

I’ve just purchased the 17 inch model for £800 in the UK, nothing comes close for this money. I would say though if this is your daily computer, the keyboard might get tiresome, unless you’re over a certain age, if you know what I mean. Don’t be put off by the lack of oled screen, and hd resolution, it looks great and is fine for watching RUclips. It is heavy and you wouldn’t want to carry it around all day. Overall great buy for business travel and demos to clients.

Thanks for this review. I'm getting ready to purchase a new laptop for my bookkeeping business. A representative from Best Buy recommended this laptop as my requirements were large screen, touch screen and I wasn't tied to a brand. I've been using a Microsoft Surface laptop for years and like it but not willing to buy a new one because the price tag is so much higher than other brands on the market. I like the big screen and 10 key keypad. However, I also understand that you don't care for the camera and keyboard that are also important to me. Should I get this laptop or do you suggest something else for myself and bookkeeping business? I am normally online most of the day as well as on a few video calls and I run some Excel and Word along with Google Sheets and Docs. That's about it, thoughts?.

I purchased a HP Omen 15 in 2021 and have a number of HP peripherals including a laser printer from them ❤. I find this 17" HP model compelling as it's keyboard ⌨️ is approximate to a desktop 🖥️ keyboard and would be useful for a number of years as a desktop replacement or backup if your primary computer ever breaks down 😊.

Love your channel. Having trouble deciding between the Envy 17 and Envy 15 360. I mean the 17 comes with more screen space (as a work laptop it's a big bonus) and the num pad (yay I'm a number cruncher) while the 15 is 360 and has the pen thrown in which is nice. At exact same specs i71260p with 16gb ram and 256-500gb SSD, the 15 incher comes out cheaper. Honestly with this toss up it really comes down to the screen, keyboard, touchpad, and build quality.

I just bought the HP Envy 17.3’’ touch screen, 13th Gen Intel Core. I7-1355u 32gb, Ge Force RTx 3050 - 1080p which came with Windows 11 home. I will have to replace 11 home with 11 pro. But otherwise. I really think this is going to be a HEAVY but very nice laptop. It should even be capable of some solid gaming applications, such as DCS (Digital Combat Simulator), and so I am hoping for the best on that aspect. I love the touch screen add.
Also as of now, October 24 2023, Costco is offering $200 off. The final price for me was $1200 plus tax. All in all, I know with that SSD 1TB hard drive that my business level applications will run smoothly. With the touch screen, my use cases will be supported. Regarding running DCS, that is a non-business use case, but hey, if it works, great. If not, I will return it and pay the restocking fee. I want what I want, you know?

The HP Envy 17 with Intel i7-1260P processor comes with an Intel Iris Xe integrated GPU, whereas the model with the Intel i7-1255U processor comes with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 dedicated GPU. Which one is faster at the end and has better graphics? Does it affect the colours on the screen due to the different GPU's? I would guess that the model exposed here with the i7-1255U processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 dedicated GPU would be the better choice at the end. Is there a difference in batterie life and power consumption as well?

17 inch laptops may be…well, laptops, but imo they’re not machines meant to be used in mobility. They’re the desktops (or all-in-ones, rather) for all those people who don’t have enough space in their house to fit - or who simply don’t want - a full desktop pc tower and, while pretty heavy, they’re still a bit lighter and so slightly easier to move around the house if required than a pc tower.

32GB ram, full HD 17.3 inch display with no touch screen, same graphic card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 (4 GB), same CPU i7 1255U.
3 year warranty, which I seriously doubt, I need to read the small font to find some exclusion policy.
I'm quite sure the glossy screen is going to piss me off.
    Just recieved it:
    for the Italian market.
No fingerprint access, but facial recognition works fine.
Cons: No indication of Num lock, No right CTRL key, the < > keys are not in the right position on the standard IT keyboard format, the Enter key is too small for my standards, the keyboard lighting is simply ridiculous and non evenly lit. absolutely ridiculous that the 12 function keys are not easily accessable. Edit: resolved, changed BIOS setting.
I work a lot on clients computers, so moving around on US keyboard formats and two Italian formats is quite stressful.
Other than that, I'm quite happy.

I'm thinking of getting an antiglare sticker.
      Incredibly silent fan, robust structure.
In my case the extra €100 for the Nvidea graphic card was useless, the Intel one is normally in use, it seems you need specific programs (games and high level graphic) to connect it.
I wasn't able to force it on in the control panel to check its functionality.
It:s set to automatic selection, the panel shows my two monitors both directed to the Intel driver.

I assumed it with boxes weight, that’s my mistake. It’s around 5lbs for the laptop it self. Apologies for the confusion.

My HP Envy 17 came with a malfunctioning USB Type C port. The port is not reading any device you connect to it, except the charger.
Is there anybody who can tell me what might be the problem? All the other port and everything else is working perfectly.

Love the Envy 17, but its battery life is highly disappointing. 18 months after the purchase the battery life is no more than 5 hours just surfing the internet. very poor performance in my opinion.

    1. I have had two HP Envy laptops and the keyboards are among the very best available. NONE of your criticisms are even close to being correct or accurate. I have owned two very expensive Dell XPS laptops and the keyboard on both HP Envy laptops are much better than the XPS laptops.
    2. You can add significant volume to the speakers in the Bang and Olufsen app that comes with the laptop.
    3. The back lighting on the Envy laptops is competitive with most rival laptops. It's not as good as MacBook laptops, but you're not paying $4,000 for an HP Envy like you would for a MacBook.

The envy is in a diffirent tier compared to the Ideapad 3. This is a premium laptop while the latter is a budget tier laptop. Depends what you want and how much you want to spend.

If I don't include it someone on the opposite side of the spectrum will critique me for not including it ( Which use to happen all the time before I started including it). If I do I'll still be subject to critique by people like yourself. By including it I try to make both sides happy, the ones who want it have it, the ones who don't can skip it. Hope this helps, have a great day and thank you for your viewership :)
