This was probably one of the worst band exposures for me. Never in my life have I connected to a band more than Mccafferty, and to find out that Nick is the same abuser he screamed in his music against, it's heartbreaking and it sucks. I met him in 2019 at one of their last shows, it's insane what I would find out later.

I personally love McCaffertys music, It’s so unique and just speaks with you. For those who feel the same way, the best thing you can do is listen to his music on non-Official videos. Lyric videos, fan animations, etc. and not be supporting him but you can still enjoy the music. It’s tragic that all these singers are getting cancelled, but sadly I won’t stop listening to the music because it really sticks with me. As I said though, support the lyric vids, the fan animations, and all that shit and you won’t be supporting him in any way.

Literally what happened to me, I found bottom by McCafferty on Spotify after listening to a bunch of The Front Bottoms songs. Then I found out what a pos Nick is.
Same thing happened with panuccis pizza. Mccafferty and panuccis were my favorite bands in like 2016 and got me through my rock bottom. It hurt to drop these bands that I was so in love with but I'm not supporting abusers no matter how much I love their art.

I discovered McCafferty about two years ago and I found so much of myself in his lyrics. I immediately fell in love with his work. I didn't even know who he was or what he did, I just knew that I loved his music, and when his album came out late last year I was beyond excited for it. Then when I started seeing him trending everywhere and realized how horrible of a person he is... I felt kinda guilty for liking his music- for still liking his music, bc its music that I've identified with and cried over dozens of times. I'm so disappointed to hear how fucked up Nick is... As ARJ once said: "Can you really love the art, if you kinda hate the artist?"
I'm in the same boat, I just try to separate the art from the artist. I suggest you listen to the front bottoms (if you don't already) they sound very similar and their lyrics are good. not to mention the members are nice and nothing like the lead singer of McCafferty

It just goes to show how good nick was at brainwashing people that even when I warned Daisy, my friend for years, they couldn’t believe it because Nick is able to make people believe HIS reality.
Mccafferty used to be my favorite band in existence I bought all their merch, I would constantly try to see them live, I would always try to get nick to notice me online because at that time he was my hero. After their second breakup (after yarn came out) I began to notice that Mccafferty was becoming less of a band and more of nicks circle jerk. He would constantly make posts about people calling him out telling people to go harass them. It made me a little weary about continuing to support them. And then eventually all of this came out and I honestly wasn’t surprised.

This band was so promising! “Cut Out the Pieces” and “Sellouts” are bangers. These guys would’ve been up there with the likes of Joyce Manor or Pup if they kept striving. They were getting to that status as well, thanks to a song that they had that got moderate popularity on TikTok.

Wow, there were two times that nick reached out to my best friend about working with our band and both times he flaked out, I remember at the time it hurt so bad since it felt like we'd finally gotten a huge opportunity and had it ripped away from us. I guess looking back now its probably a good thing. My heart really goes out to everyone who was hurt or taken advantage of, and I hope you all can find healing.
That's super interesting, because i have talked to nick a few times before and he told me the front bottoms did basically the exact same thing to them. He was really pissed about it and told me he wrote an entire song making fun of the front bottoms and everyone who says they copy them.
McCafferty was like a warm cozy blanket for me for about 3-4 years. I was lucky enough to see them live and meet the band. I had a few conversations with Nick through Reddit and Xbox. I saw his increasingly cheesy and eye rolling Instagram posts with the preppy pictures and corny lines about how happy he was and how much he loves his wife. Then I learned it was all fucking bullshit. Everything I thought I knew was fake, even the corny bullshit. I've been able to listen to the occasional Brand New song s since the allegations came to light, probably because they were just a band to me. I have not been able to play a single McCafferty song since this shit went down. And that's a fucking bummer because I loved that band and thought it could have helped a lot of people if Nick were genuine.

I had been a huge Mccafferty fan since I was 14 in 2015, I remember stumbling on their music on RUclips when they had barely just 300 views. I spent my entire high school adolescence listening to this band, crying to their music, and relating to their lyrics. As someone with depression, among other mental illnesses, their music really touched me, and I’m sure most of the fans can relate to this. I met McCafferty at warped tour 2017, they were at their record label’s tent. I’m from Ohio, so I think they only went to that specific warped tour since it was very close to their hometown. I remember crying and having a heart to heart conversation with Nick, it felt so unreal that I was able to meet the person I looked up to as my hero. Although I personally never had any negative personal experiences with him, it breaks my heart that a person who seemed so true and genuine could turn into someone so evil. My heart hurts for everyone who was involved with him. It’s still hard for me to even listen to McCafferty to this day.
McCafferty helped me so much and it just HURTS, it just feels like I'll never find anything that will make me feel like McCafferty did. It's just... a tragedy? Lyrics ring around my head at hard times and then I remember that those are words that came out of the mouth of Nick, and those lyrics no longer feel reassuring. I loved McCafferty so dearly, it was part of my identity, and then when I found out that McCafferty is a fake representation of what it really is I couldn't really cope. For a while nothing felt real and I tried to disconnect myself from reality and kept listening to them for reassurance due to my mental health, I tried to ignore everything said about it. I still haven't found music that fills a void of where McCafferty once was in my heart, but I have stopped listening to it (until RUclips decides to put it in my recommended, which, like a drug addict, I reply with clicking on the video and listening to a ghost-town of a band in a form of nostalgia, yet remembering that I can't stay ignorant forever.) Just.. I don't think people know the implications of starting a band or music career on their fans.

I saw them live when they were touring with Remo Drive in 2017. I noticed that Remo Drive didn't really like them & it was confusing because they were touring together & it was RD's tour to begin with. idk something about it felt off to me

I recently found McCaffrey last fall and only started really listening to them this spring. I wanted to see them in concert and looked up to see if they were still together only to find the post from nick saying how they split up and that he needed time for his mental health and that he felt sorry for all his wrong doings. I felt sad about never seeing them in concert. I also looked into some of the stuff nick had said but not too much. I had no idea how severe the issues with nick were. Listening to their music wont be the same for me after hearing how terrible of a person he was. I hope that all the former band members are able to move on from all the terrible things he put them through and live happier lives. I also hope nick gets help if that's even possible. Hes really talented and it's sad that hes uses his talents to justify his terrible behavior.
i never knew all of this happened until a few weeks ago when i saw the official McCafferty facebook group and the google doc Daisy posted. McCafferty’s music gave me a second chance at life, his words gave me hope that i wasn’t alone and my experiences could be coped with. It’s A helped me cope with the loss of my unborn child, and learning that the song was based off of Lindsay’s experiences completely shook me to my core. i looked up to Nick, and his songs got me through too many tough times. i can’t believe i ever thought he was my idol. my heart goes out to all of the people who have been hurt by Nick, especially to Lindsay and Emily. i pray one day Emily will see that Nick isn’t someone she should be around.
To everyone who liked McCafferty and want something similar (punkish, heavyish lyrics) I recommend Pup. The band is still p small and as far as i know, unproblematic. They're genuinely rlly good.
I stopped listening to McCafferty in 2016/17 after getting to know Nick. This was my perspective: Nick treated his friends like it was their job to help him do whatever he wanted and then he would directly blame them for all of his failures and mistakes. He used to constantly change his mind over whether or not to start making music again (which is fine, musicians owe us nothing, but it got really old after the 5th or 6th time) but every time he'd decide not to he'd blame it on someone else in the band, much to their confusion. He would say fucked up shit that we assumed was a joke because there was no context for it. I've never let the actions of any musician stop me from enjoying their music but Nick is a such detestable person that I haven't been able to listen to or enjoy what was such a great band for years. I'm glad everyone knows what he's like now, he doesn't deserve any respect or attention whatsoever. I was friends with Noah (now Daisy) before and during when they managed McCafferty, until I left that circle in 2017. Daisy put so much effort and passion into trying to help Nick and his music, I hope they are doing well. Chris, Wes, Evan are great people, fuck Paul Blart Hartkop.

I never got more emotionally attached to a band. Their songs such as dead bird, trailer trash, and trees connected to my own emotions at the time I first found them. I just find it incredibly ironic the person who introduced me to them was so similar to Nick.

One time McCafferty played at a house show at my house in Eastern PA. They weren't on tour or anything they just drove to my house and then drove back home. I offered them gas money but they didn't want to take any (the show was a benefit show for my local food pantry). I thought that was pretty cool of them. They ended up getting ticketed on their way home. It's weird, I never would have thought they would get the attention they did, and I didn't expect any of the drama that came with the band.

I remember discovering McCafferty back in 2013. Fell in love instantly, I couldn't get enough but after the multiple break ups/retirements. It was just tiring but all the accusations broke the camels back.
You can see the victimizing in his lyrics. As relatable as they are , alot of his work is just about him playing victim. I love House with no doorbell and trees and so many others, but hearing all of this brings a whole new meaning with his personality in perspective of the songs.

I discovered McCafferty about two years ago and I found so much of myself in his lyrics. I immediately fell in love with his work. I didn't even know who he was or what he did, I just knew that I loved his music, and when his album came out late last year I was beyond excited for it. Then when I started seeing him trending everywhere and realized how horrible of a person he is... I felt kinda guilty for liking his music- for still liking his music, bc its music that I've identified with and cried over dozens of times. I'm so disappointed to hear how fucked up Nick is...

I'm in the same boat, I just try to separate the art from the artist. I suggest you listen to the front bottoms (if you don't already) they sound very similar and their lyrics are good. not to mention the members are nice and nothing like the lead singer of McCafferty
Of course you can still love the art! Liking the art doesn't mean you support the actions of the artist. Listen to whatever you want.

Mccafferty used to be my favorite band in existence I bought all their merch, I would constantly try to see them live, I would always try to get nick to notice me online because at that time he was my hero. After their second breakup (after yarn came out) I began to notice that Mccafferty was becoming less of a band and more of nicks circle jerk. He would constantly make posts about people calling him out telling people to go harass them. It made me a little weary about continuing to support them. And then eventually all of this came out and I honestly wasn’t surprised.

This band was so promising! “Cut Out the Pieces” and “Sellouts” are bangers. These guys would’ve been up there with the likes of Joyce Manor or Pup if they kept striving. They were getting to that status as well, thanks to a song that they had that got moderate popularity on TikTok.

Wow, there were two times that nick reached out to my best friend about working with our band and both times he flaked out, I remember at the time it hurt so bad since it felt like we'd finally gotten a huge opportunity and had it ripped away from us. I guess looking back now its probably a good thing. My heart really goes out to everyone who was hurt or taken advantage of, and I hope you all can find healing.

That's super interesting, because i have talked to nick a few times before and he told me the front bottoms did basically the exact same thing to them. He was really pissed about it and told me he wrote an entire song making fun of the front bottoms and everyone who says they copy them.
McCafferty was like a warm cozy blanket for me for about 3-4 years. I was lucky enough to see them live and meet the band. I had a few conversations with Nick through Reddit and Xbox. I saw his increasingly cheesy and eye rolling Instagram posts with the preppy pictures and corny lines about how happy he was and how much he loves his wife. Then I learned it was all fucking bullshit. Everything I thought I knew was fake, even the corny bullshit. I've been able to listen to the occasional Brand New song s since the allegations came to light, probably because they were just a band to me. I have not been able to play a single McCafferty song since this shit went down. And that's a fucking bummer because I loved that band and thought it could have helped a lot of people if Nick were genuine.
i went through a lot when i listened to mccafferty. i begged and pleaded my dad to take me to one of their concerts (never happened, my dad did his fair share of research thankfully). i learned about some of this stuff by myself, but watching this video has fully opened up my eyes. this stuff hurts, and it’s hard to talk about. rip to my favorite band from 2015-2018.

I had been a huge Mccafferty fan since I was 14 in 2015, I remember stumbling on their music on RUclips when they had barely just 300 views. I spent my entire high school adolescence listening to this band, crying to their music, and relating to their lyrics. As someone with depression, among other mental illnesses, their music really touched me, and I’m sure most of the fans can relate to this. I met McCafferty at warped tour 2017, they were at their record label’s tent. I’m from Ohio, so I think they only went to that specific warped tour since it was very close to their hometown. I remember crying and having a heart to heart conversation with Nick, it felt so unreal that I was able to meet the person I looked up to as my hero. Although I personally never had any negative personal experiences with him, it breaks my heart that a person who seemed so true and genuine could turn into someone so evil. My heart hurts for everyone who was involved with him. It’s still hard for me to even listen to McCafferty to this day.
McCafferty helped me so much and it just HURTS, it just feels like I'll never find anything that will make me feel like McCafferty did. It's just... a tragedy? Lyrics ring around my head at hard times and then I remember that those are words that came out of the mouth of Nick, and those lyrics no longer feel reassuring.
I loved McCafferty so dearly, it was part of my identity, and then when I found out that McCafferty is a fake representation of what it really is I couldn't really cope. For a while nothing felt real and I tried to disconnect myself from reality and kept listening to them for reassurance due to my mental health, I tried to ignore everything said about it.
I still haven't found music that fills a void of where McCafferty once was in my heart, but I have stopped listening to it (until RUclips decides to put it in my recommended, which, like a drug addict, I reply with clicking on the video and listening to a ghost-town of a band in a form of nostalgia, yet remembering that I can't stay ignorant forever.)
Just.. I don't think people know the implications of starting a band or music career on their fans.

I saw them live when they were touring with Remo Drive in 2017. I noticed that Remo Drive didn't really like them & it was confusing because they were touring together & it was RD's tour to begin with. idk something about it felt off to me

I don’t know why I keep coming back to these videos it’s not a sense of comfort I think it’s more of a sensitive me seeing if my ideals have changed but also great video still holds up
I recently found McCaffrey last fall and only started really listening to them this spring. I wanted to see them in concert and looked up to see if they were still together only to find the post from nick saying how they split up and that he needed time for his mental health and that he felt sorry for all his wrong doings. I felt sad about never seeing them in concert. I also looked into some of the stuff nick had said but not too much. I had no idea how severe the issues with nick were. Listening to their music wont be the same for me after hearing how terrible of a person he was. I hope that all the former band members are able to move on from all the terrible things he put them through and live happier lives. I also hope nick gets help if that's even possible. Hes really talented and it's sad that hes uses his talents to justify his terrible behavior.

i never knew all of this happened until a few weeks ago when i saw the official McCafferty facebook group and the google doc Daisy posted. McCafferty’s music gave me a second chance at life, his words gave me hope that i wasn’t alone and my experiences could be coped with. It’s A helped me cope with the loss of my unborn child, and learning that the song was based off of Lindsay’s experiences completely shook me to my core. i looked up to Nick, and his songs got me through too many tough times. i can’t believe i ever thought he was my idol. my heart goes out to all of the people who have been hurt by Nick, especially to Lindsay and Emily. i pray one day Emily will see that Nick isn’t someone she should be around.

To everyone who liked McCafferty and want something similar (punkish, heavyish lyrics) I recommend Pup. The band is still p small and as far as i know, unproblematic. They're genuinely rlly good.
I stopped listening to McCafferty in 2016/17 after getting to know Nick. This was my perspective: Nick treated his friends like it was their job to help him do whatever he wanted and then he would directly blame them for all of his failures and mistakes. He used to constantly change his mind over whether or not to start making music again (which is fine, musicians owe us nothing, but it got really old after the 5th or 6th time) but every time he'd decide not to he'd blame it on someone else in the band, much to their confusion. He would say fucked up shit that we assumed was a joke because there was no context for it. I've never let the actions of any musician stop me from enjoying their music but Nick is a such detestable person that I haven't been able to listen to or enjoy what was such a great band for years. I'm glad everyone knows what he's like now, he doesn't deserve any respect or attention whatsoever. I was friends with Noah (now Daisy) before and during when they managed McCafferty, until I left that circle in 2017. Daisy put so much effort and passion into trying to help Nick and his music, I hope they are doing well. Chris, Wes, Evan are great people, fuck Paul Blart Hartkop.

I never got more emotionally attached to a band. Their songs such as dead bird, trailer trash, and trees connected to my own emotions at the time I first found them. I just find it incredibly ironic the person who introduced me to them was so similar to Nick.

One time McCafferty played at a house show at my house in Eastern PA. They weren't on tour or anything they just drove to my house and then drove back home. I offered them gas money but they didn't want to take any (the show was a benefit show for my local food pantry). I thought that was pretty cool of them. They ended up getting ticketed on their way home. It's weird, I never would have thought they would get the attention they did, and I didn't expect any of the drama that came with the band.
