Sorry to be blunt, but that it pointless. The whole purpose of a NATO strap is to save the watch when one spring bar breaks. This strap doesn’t do that, so you may as well wear a two-piece fabric strap.

  • @TopStrikerMaverick

    1. There are single pass natos

  • @cnaarndt

Sorry, but all you did is to defeat the purpose of a NATO or Zulu strap. Now if a spring bar breaks, the watch falls off your wrist.
Recommend a Zulu strap for one layer below the watch OR the alternate method of attaching a standard NATO that again is only one layer below the watch which also has the added benefit of now moving the strap to the bottom of the wrist versus on the outside, which is just plain annoying.

On the face of it, it's a, cool idea but when I think about it, it doesn't really make sense. We use NATO style straps in particularly rough environments and have to put up with the wierd loop and keeper at the side of the wrist as a, trade off for keeping the watch on your wrist if you lose a spring bar. There's no real point in having that awkward looking piece if you're not going to have the protection. It's better to buy a good standard canvas or nylon strap as it just looks better. Or, cut off the double pass bit or use an original single pass while still having the safety with a bit less bulk under the watch. A good quality single pass or a cut away NATO will not feel flimsy at all. What we have here is a strap that's not very esthetic but it doesn't provide the safety. It's basically an ugly looking strap with no real benefit with unnecessary bulk on your wrist for no good reason.

I’m going to point out the obvious: this design forgoes the primary advantage of a nato/Zulu strap - if a single spring bar goes, so does the whole watch. I use natos when out on the water.

    • @1973HST
      @1973HST 7 месяцев назад +3

@@WatchCrunchOfficial honestly, I got about half way through before clicking away because IMHO it was all a little ridiculous. I did see that it was mentioned, but I’d already written the comment and still believe it stands. You can buy a regular watch strap made of nylon for a nato appearance if you don’t want the underpass. The whole thing smacks of solving a problem that doesn’t exist, or if you want to put it another way, solving a problem that’s already been solved but doing it in an alternative and inferior way. No matter how you slice it, I wouldn’t consider the new thing to be superior in any way to any of the alternative old things. And it eliminates the primary advantage of the old solution. No matter how I look at it, the new thing doesn’t have a purpose, IMO. And it specifically eliminates a purpose of the old thing.
But hey, the world is full of all kinds. If you can sell something to them, what do I care? I’m not buying it. 🤷

I just got my honey Dijon nylon in the mail and I LOVE it! I’m using it on my white dial Hamilton Khaki Field Expedition. It’s a perfect match. The mustard strap matches the faux lume on the hands. I had completely given up on NATO straps even though I love the look. Even a single pass feels weird on my wrist. I don’t care that the zero pass loses the feature of staying put if you break a spring bar. I don’t worry about that with my other 20 rubber, leather, and metal straps. In 50 years of wearing watches I’ve never had a spring bar fail. So why would I worry about it with this one? Max, you’ve created a total hit. Way to go!!!

It eliminates the safety advantages of a NATO but is still bulky, only flipped the double layer UNDER your wrist. I would prefer an innovative flat strap under my wrist when working in the office.
Most of my NATOs wear good and fill the space under the lugs, so the watches sit very well (better than with single layer straps).
I think I recall a similar strap technique (with leather) at a 1940s vintage watch I got offered in Switzerland about 25 years ago. Interesting you had the same idea now.

Fun idea! It looks like you took the single pass NATO strap and widened the inner loop to allow the hand to pass through. The tradeoff from a practicality standpoint is reasonable (just look at any standard watch strap and if a spring bar breaks the watch will fall), but I think the fact that you have to slide your hand through before tightening (as opposed to just slapping it on your wrist) makes this more of a difficult sell (Apple does this with their elastic bands, but now there is the added complexity of tightening it down). Could you have achieved a similar aesthetic result (and I guess conventional result if we're considering the weight distribution) with a conventional 2-piece fabric strap by just doubling the layers?

Congratulations! Does it come with different length. I don’t like the look of two fold at the end, it was my main issue to go with nato straps. For my BB 58 I ordered the original nato strap

Congrats, Max! Love the concept and this is exactly what ive been looking for for my Marathon Navigator Stainless Date. Its such a thin military watch and single and double pass NATOs just unbalance it.

Very similar to a Marine Nationale as in putting the spring bars over the strap and feeding your hand through less the single pass of a MN..SUPERB invention love it....

This concept is very much like The Watch Steward elastic straps in a more traditional material.

I don’t have any issues with the strap running under the watch on NATO straps. What I don’t care for is the extra bulk created by the strap looping up and back through the keepers which this strap sadly preserves.

I think it largely depends on the watch. I have no problem at all with the double pass on my watches, it barely shows. Also, the fact that it's a bit upward removes the problem of the crown scratching the hand skin : it gives more flexibility to the hand, especially when I am physically active.
Finally, I appreciate the fact that I can change the strap without touching the springs.

@@bbuck1bbuck1 Yes. It's a debate on NATO and as the majority seems to not like NATO design, I thought I would share a different opinion and defend it.
Don't take it as a criticism or an agression for the project, anyway, just reading at the comments, there is obviously a market so it's going to work.
We all have a choice now.
Just a gentleman talk, thank you.

love those, I saw way too many conent creators use their platform and their new brand to overprice these things very hard. but 40€ for canvas and 80€ for leather is very, very good. I am looking to buy my first strap for my baltic hermetique and look into the more traditional, italian niche, but am sure I will come back to the Pseudo natos quite soon. Congratulations, seems like a well thought through product!

Love the straps, I think I'm going to try one on a Glycine Goldeneye but don't know if it should be Ron Burgundy (prob) or Anthracite

Nice product! However I have a 9.25 wrist. Wear 60mm watch and use NATO now. I like the fact there is not material underneath the watch. Do you make longer versions?

  • @alwayspooh1588

Max, the next stage is one where there is no removal of either spring bar. This is possible and fairly easy I think. Good job on gen1 though!

    • @TheeYellowDart
      @TheeYellowDart 6 месяцев назад +1

This could already be achieved by simply removing the lower keeper that normally would keep the watch head from falling off the strap when it's not on a wrist.
Which of course in this case is purely aesthetic and has no function.

Congrats on developing a new design.
Personally, as well as the strap thickness behind the caseback, I hate the visual bulk above 12 o'clock and the keeper below 6.
What are the advantages of this compared to a two piece nylon strap which will look sleeker yet also utilitarian?
Still happy you're doing something new!

Max crunchy brother hey with that material what do you think about putting a deployment clasp on it kind of like the orias almost like a nylon NATO but more like a braided nylon leash you've seen the Oreos with a deployment clasp think about it I would purchase one from you also make the band uniform no taper and in a 20 mm for those of us who often switch bands between watches
