This is my go-to for NATO and Zulu style straps. I do what you said at the end (but I don’t reverse the buckle side) and keep all the hardware on the bottom of my wrist.
The problem with this is when you fold that small strap back and out of the way, it makes it extra bulky on the side you folded it to. The best approach is to cut off that hanging strap. It looks stupid anyways with a metal thing on the side. Cut it off and it’s clean and even and not bulky
I agree! For me, I just buy a nylon strap instead of a NATO strap! No need for any extra thick/doubled over strap. Each to their own of course but in my humble opinion, NATO straps are not an option for me.
This way, I think you can actually use the buckle without the tongue and the flipped keeper as a Double-D ring... like motorsport and high end motorcycle helmets.
Your videos are always interesting. I might buy a NATO strap. I bought a Marine Nationale extensible straps to avoid the double strap under the watch. Keep up your good work. I already subscribed to your channel and put like on your videos.
On a properly designed NATO (or other military watch strap) the buckle shouldn't have a spring bar. The buckle should be sewn to the strap. There are a lot of "fashion" military-style straps out there with spring bar buckles. Avoid them.
I just cut that second layer off and melt the edge with a lighter. Basically make the Nato strap into a Zulu strap. I see no real advantage to that second layer of fabric underneath the watch
Just buy a single pass strap. If you find yourself with a dual piece NATO and can't let it go, cut off the extra piece. That said, a single pass is still your best option.
Could you measure the length of the strap please? I have one of these but there isn't much excess length after wearing and I don't know if it's cause I'm fat! lol Mine measures 260 mm from the end to end.

Yeah keeping them at the bottom makes it more balanced 😁
@@NorthernWatchClub I’ll try it the traditional way first, but if I don’t like the watch/strap combination, I switch to hardware on the bottom!
@@WatchWitt yeah for my thick watches I often have no choice or else they become like 16mm thick lol
I do this with thicker watches all the time. It works very well.

maybe I'll try it with one of my cheap straps thanks :)

Ive never had a problem. Idk what you're talking about
Exactly. Or, invest in a single-pass strap.
Awesome, propblem solved....Thank you!

ohh thanks I'll try that out !
Informative video, thank you 👍👍

Thank you 🙏
the final look is Clean!
I cut, moved, and customize the hell of it. Now is all good.
I have both Zulu and natos, but I still do the Second method from time to time with thinner material natos.
LOL all that thickness on one side
Awesome that worked out great thanks.

Good to know thanks!
It really doesn't matter if you wear a traditional nato strap.
Totally agree, it’s not a real nato strap if the buckle uses spring bars

Ya true eh
I don't have any extra to fold over....actually thankfully.
Thanks for this!

He has a smaller wrist. My wrist is 7.5" and also have no excess strap to tuck back.
On original MOD Design Nato Straps there is no Keuper Sprringbar.
Interesting, I like it.
This is so not the best way. Simply thread through the 3rd loop and put the watch on the remaining half which is single material. Even looks better. 😊
@@roadgent7921 not sure I understand without a video explaining it lol I'm very curious how to do it :)
You tried the zero pass nato?
Nope but maybe I should try it 🤔
