Great voice, and I love the song, but I'll never forgive his family for how they betrayed the Starks.
took me a while to understand the joke aha
David Axelord
Well played.
David Axelord Nice joke. Not too obvious, but quite funny.
O Vosoryx The joke behind my username is even more obscure.
David Axelord They deserve everything they got and more for not allowing him to make Jack Sparrow his sigil.
The title of this video is pretty misleading. It sounds like they Lonely Island treated him badly when they first met, when that's not at all what happened if you listen to the interview.
Only if you're not familiar with how movies are made. A treatment is a 3 to 5 page summary written before a script, to give a solid idea of how the film will go. So this treatment was probably about a page and a half, explaining the ideas for the song and video.
DylanHunter It’s not misleading at all bro, you’re just not too bright.
@@mikekoz68 Replying to a 2 year old comment calling someone stupid while being wrong yourself is sad.
Ole Rasmussen what a stupid comment... also I never called anyone stupid, I said the comment, like yours, was stupid.Since you couldn’t figure that out I guess yo is stooopid too
that's the point, it's a clickbait title
Turns out Michael Bolton IS a major cinephile.
You complete me!
Rougarou yap, yup..
Hahaha. I'm scrolling through all these years old comments and damn, this one got me to crack up. Nicely done.
Michael Bolton should play as a guest star on Brooklyn Nine-Nine lmao
Kevin's first husband: a bohemian philanderer.
him and Justin Timberlake. would be sooo fun
YESSSSSSSS
He should
He should be in a future Halloween Episode where Jake gets the help of a local Jack Sparrow performer (Michael Bolton) to distract the 99 by singing the actual song Jack Sparrow loool
Respect to Bolton. It sounds like the joke initially was "Here's romantic crooner Michael Bolton singing some nasty hardcore lyrics" and by telling them to go in a different direction they came up with something much more creative and funnier. Love the Lonely Island and it sounds like this was a fruitful collaboration!
We still got "This whole town's a pussy just waiting to get fucked"
Very astute! I hadn't thought of that, but I agree.
thst moment you realise michael bolton could be linus from linustechtips ' dad. you will never unsee it
+jjproductionscorp He even acts the same way :D i can't handle it.. im dying
+jjproductionscorp ay lmao xd
That's hillarious xD
whywouldyoudothistome
holy crap LOL you're right I cannot unsee that :)
Like or hate his music, he seems like a cool guy.
Who the fuck would have ever guessed?
existenceisrelative right?
His appearance on the Larry Sanders show was pretty awesome 😂😇
@@hostilefork Yep, I remember having a prejudice against him purely because of Office Space.
@@anthonychavez8837 Why? He even appeared in a spoof for that movie, playing the Michael Bolton character.
"Now back to the good part"
This
Is
Gold
I mean...he wasn't wrong
He's not really my style, but that voice could fucking melt butter.
Respect to you for respecting a talented person who's style is not your cup of tea. Not enough people do that on the internet :)
LMFAO, right?!!?!
I normally hate "censorship", but I feel like if that song had been any dirtier, it could have easily ruined it. So I'm glad Bolton insisted they clean it up a bit. It ended up being my favorite of their songs.
Sadly i will never See the dirty Version.
"Waiting to get fucked" with a close up of him looking creepy dressed as Erin Brockovich was as weird as it needed to get.
The Stainless for real 😂
Artists collaborating through the creative process isn't anything close to censorship
Yeah, sometimes less is more.
For all the heat & (basically) ridicule Michael Bolton takes on the Internet (but then again, who doesn't?), he seems like a funny, cool-ass dude, and his appearance in that song, along with this interview made me respect him a ton.
he does seem like a nice guy. since then he made another song called "Incredible thoughts" with The Lonely Island, it's on their Popstar album and it's pretty great too.
Also the dude can flat sing.
Kevin Gillihan he can also sing on key. But you're right, I'm sure he can sing flat.
Logan Wheatcraft Yes very funny hahaha
He has done something amazing - embraced both his target demographic and the demographic which sees what he did in the 80s as a little cringey. Did you see his Netflix special? It was awesome - both in a humorous way, but he also sang really well. I think he's got a chance of going down as the Tony Bennett of the 80s.
It's great to see celebrities and also people in general acting completely out of character so I have nothing but respect for Bolton.
That other guy also needs to learn how to fucking chair.
GentlemanHobo
A) Your name is awesome.
B) This comment made me laugh more than it should have...
GentlemanHobo actually, he can chair however he feels more comfortable. You can't acuse him of being uncomfortable!
ADCF Productions Fair point, mate. I now realise I was a little prejudiced as against other peoples methods of chairing. I now see the folly of my ways.
GentlemanHobo To be honest though I agree with you, he did a terrible job, kept interupting Michael.
God forbid a man cross his legs and use the armrest to lean toward his guest . What a dumbass boomer comment to make
Michael Bolton actually sounds better now than he did back when he was popular.
+Marsha Smith ever heard "when a man loves a woman"? "how am i suppose to live without you"? crazy vocals
I'm not a fan, per se, of Michael Bolton but there's no wiggle room for one's credibility if they disagree with your comment. The man can fucking sing.
I have to actually agree with you Marsha. To date, this collaboration is my favorite version of him.
I think his voice has more texture now, but his voice has always been amazing.
Popular?? Popular is de "coolest" boy/girl of 'your' schooll. These GENTILMAN is a *lengend* !
Brilliant move for him. This introduced him to a whole new generation, AND introduced him as somebody who is really cool and funny! Great move for Michael Bolton. And, of course, he really rocked that song. :)
100%. He has said this ended up being so much bigger than he ever imagined. He calls it the gift that keeps giving!
Never knew he was such a cool guy
I badly want to know the lyrics for the last two songs he said no to.
me too!!!
Dito! :-)
OMG yes!!!!
possibly a continuation of dick in the box...
Dammit, to hear Bolton sing Dick in a box though....
I like how the actual video seems like a satire of that story. Like, they were trying to do something nastier (which is represented by going to the club) and Michael Bolton just wants to talk about his films. I mean, it's so clear the image of them receiving the e-mail and thinking "Oh man, he doesn't want to do anything we want" and coming up with that song. Man that's hilarious. Great song too!
I love that he told them he had some problems with how dirty it was and they listened and made those changes. That's pretty awesome :)
Hello sarabibliomania
Fair play to Michael Bolton, the greatest thing you can do, especially in Hollywood or music, is to never take yourself too seriously, I love how celebrities can do this cause sometimes it's a gamble
Right - TPain did it. Of course that was kind of making fun of the whole Rap industry. (along with 'i threw it on the ground').
Man, I've never seen Bolton speak outside of his music. The fact that he's focused on what Pacino and Depp think of his portrayal of them, even in jest, right out of the gate is unexpectedly cool. What a champ. He can sing whatever he likes however he likes as far as I'm concerned now :P (and holy crap his commitment to the bits in the Lonely Island collaboration is what makes that video one of my faves from them)
dude, the guy can sing, that's why the video was so good
Popular singers can sing, yes.
My daughters are so excited yeah my mothers going nuts I choked on my drink lol 😂
jeffrey, me too
I have serious respect for Michael Bolton after this.
The song is excellent, and Bolton was a perfect choice for it.
"I have to remember to speak with Al Pacino"
"I haven't heard anything about Johnny Depp yet"
Such a namedrop
Wonder if Julia Roberts got in touch? :-)
zapfanzapfan or Tom Hanks lol
Michael Bolton has some... Incredible Thoughts
Whenever I see or hear Michael Bolton, I can't help but think of Office Space!😂LOL!
Did you see him in Funny or Die's Office Space Parody? It's pretty funny
Mythical Maniac no I didn't! I'll definitely have to go check it out now, thank you!👍🏼
"...that no talent assclown..."
I think it's really hard to estimate how much this helped Michael Bolton with gaining fans or acceptance outside his base, but I would imagine it was quite immense. I believe it's Lonely Islands most viewed song. And that says a lot. Cause those guys were viral city.
Good for him on sticking to his morals. He seems like a really classy guy.
That video made me like Michael Bolton, I like celebrities that don't take themselves too seriously.
Good for you Mr Bolton, really enjoyed it.
2024 and it’s still legendary
The great thing about this, is that it's both good music and humor. It shows Bolton as both a good singer and a good sport and it actually doesn't feel that it's at his expense at all, but that he plays more of a character. It's just all good ingredients in the result.
I wasn't a Michael Bolton fan until that video. I appreciate people that don't take themselves too seriously.
Michael Bolton is what made that song great.
Bolton both looked and sounded so unbelievably awesome in that video and if anyone
is ever going to do a remake of scarface,he could play Tony, because he looked so badass.
He looked awesome as jack as well.
Michael of House Bolton keeping the troll skills intact.
The wholesomeness and innocence on Bolton's part (until the end) is what makes the song so funny and catchy.
People can say what they want, but Michael is a classy guy.
I just want to say that Michael Bolton is incomparable. I believe that talent like him is only born once every century and fans and admirers of true talent are privileged to enjoy this phenomenon who owns the most powerful voice in the artistic universe.
who ever said that M.Bolton is to old to be cool..?
M.bolton is to cool too be old
Hey, Michael? I know this will never reach you.
You did a *GREAT* job in that music video! I'm sure this will sound cliche, but that particular song brought me and a friend of mine HOURS of entertainment.
Singing it, wondering where you got that pirate hat in the "Now back to the good part!" scene....
You show a lot of courage, mocking yourself. You do it well, and that caused me to re-evaluate everything about your career.
Pulling off that crooner song style coupled with Pirates and Scarface and Erin Brockovitch?
Genius.
You did it really well.
Thank you.
I know it was an assload of work, but you did a GREAT JOB!
And I'm appreciative of that.
+GoodAvatar What he said. Ironically I have MORE respect for Michael for being able to poke some light hearted fun at himself :)
5 years late but i agree, nothing better then some celebrity being able to laugh at themselves a little and this made me like and discover Bolton. This song will live for a long time!
What I like about the song is how amusingly wholesome the chorus is as Bolton nerds out about these movies in contrast to the typical lines about clubbing and rock-star/gangster vulgarities in the verses, so I think Bolton making the song clean was what really sold it for me. (There was that one Scarface line but it can be excused as overenthusiastic verbatim quoting I guess :/)
Thank You Mr Bolton for getting involved with The Loney Island making one if the greatest songs and video ever!
I laughed for hours when my girlfriend played this. I was crying.
Micheal Bolton really can sing!
Probably one of the greatest vocalists ever, listen to him singing with pavaroti
Am I the only one who would love to see the whole Scarface song, or for that matter, actually a whole Scarface musical now?
ruclips.net/video/pm101MO7jb0/видео.html
Hey, you said _Scarface._
Oh my god what an awesome guy!! Damn. And so funny too! Was not expecting him to just bust out like that... he can carry a tune! I'm blown away.
he unlike most people who hit the level of stardom actually refrained from "snorting mountains of cocaine". hes 61, but has not trashed his voice. what most impresses me about him is how well he took care of his kids, by himself.
he even walked away from the career for a time to make sure he was around. easier for him to do with a pile of money, but most people would just keep producing and pay someone else to handle the kids.
JamesMichaelDoyle Wow, good for him! That raised his awesome level by like, 10,000.
JamesMichaelDoyle damn, he's 61?! never would have guessed that. i know he's been around for AGES, but...yeah.
Gingerbread Girl indeed. im 33, so i actually watched him skyrocket and then vanish for his kids and then come back. hes a badass, he deserves everything hes got and more.
Blown away he can carry a tune? Whatthe.
But yea, seems like a good guy.
i've always appreciated michael bolton as a good and talented singer, but this lonely island song made me actually enjoy him. it's crazy to me that he even agreed to do THAT, being MICHAEL FREAKIN' BOLTON!
i think michael bolton is awesome
i listen to how am i saposed to live without you all the time,
then i found out about this song and my RESPECT WENT like 10000 times HIGHER its such an Awesome and Funny song
i admit. Michael Bolton is a great artist. and this performance was absolutely amazing. i love it.
1:44 That exchange was so awesome. Despite the generation difference, they both acknowledge each other's influence on their respective fan base.
I love him in that song. Great sport.
I will never get tired of this. Oh, and Kevin Smith.
Dude I love that song, I heard about bolton from office space and only saw him through this song and it was awesome. Showing those kids up for sure!!!!!!!!!!!
I love at the very opening he's just kinda vibing out to his own work. That's nice.
Probably one of my favorite TLI songs and he is the reason.
Michael bolton 👍 Best voice Miss you,💋💕
Such a class act!
love dat voice
we need more of these songs because they make you feel good, smile and they are not as bad as so much of the other songs done for shock value -- thank you Michael Bolton for the best song i have heard in forever.
HEADLINE IS MISLEADING Bolton is awesome
Fuk Yeah - Michael Bolton=- Bolton is still Epic!
The song is so catchy even after all these years !!!
GET SOME. BOLTON IS A LEGEND, GREAT COLAB
Legend.
Bolton ... a real stick to his guns kind of guy.... respectable and admirable .... LOVE.
Love you so much forever!!!!!😘🥰🤭🤫🤗🌟💎🌟🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❣❣❣❣❣☎️👌🤗🐟🐠
222 million, now, holy crap.
Legend
He nailed this and went hard.
Loved him in Office Space
Bolton's probably the only person ive seen that sounds the same casually as he does in his songs lol
Michael Bolton massive legend
I still like the video and want to hear more Bolton songs about movies. They should let him do the opening to the next Bond film.
Why not him as the next Bond?
He’s so charismatic
Awesome video
Hilarious how this became one of Michael Bolton's biggest hits.
I'm amazed a guy with that long of a last name was not forced to shorten it for tv
Dude, please learn how to chair.
you mean "please learn how to sit".
@@Hellwyck no
Geeze lol for real
😂 Why's he sitting all facked up??
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
Love Andy!
I have much respect for MB after this interview.
165 million views now Michael.
Wow - he can sing. Right out of the gate.
HE IS UNIQUE
this was my favorite lonely island one
❤❤❤❤❤
That was some of his best work.
He seems like a real nice guy
120 million views? Now it's at 219 million views. And I still think it should be higher!
So all this time the boys wrote the big sexy hook and not Bolton.
*Shocked
That melody was lifted from “ Alone” by Heart.
He is a good locking old man. No homo.
I just watched it at 240 million views double what he said in this video 7 years ago.
The host: let me lean awkwardly on this gay chair.
Botlon: But y tho?
yeah that chair seems like it it likes dicks
Clap Forboobies that chair looks so uncomfortable. The seat is too high, the armrests are too wide apart and the back is too low and would fuck up your lumbar spine
Terrible chair, whoever the manufacturer is should be ashamed of that abomination.
How the fuck can a chair be gay? It's an inanimate object.
He also did a funny Valentine's day special- I think on Netflix.
What a cool guy.
Smart, funny guy
It was both funny and cool at the same time. That's when you have a HIT on your hands.
Maikal Bolton respect sincer totdeauna
"Almost a 120 milion views" What?? It has been a year and it only gained 7 milion views? Compared to 120 milions in 2 years, thats strange.
he was just trying to back up the fact that he's besties with Johnny Depp and Al Pacino, both of which are eager to respond to Boltons latest output.., give the man a break
go look at it right now....it has 130 million views...you probably looked at a different one
Well, this is the Internet. Things can get extremely popular within weeks but then fade away in a mass of new extremely popular things.
Joel van der Horst Well... our house is at least half of a million views, to be fair. So, just being friendly. :) xox
Michael Bolton really seems like a cool dude, and my respect for him increased after this interview.
aww
