    The title of this video is pretty misleading. It sounds like they Lonely Island treated him badly when they first met, when that's not at all what happened if you listen to the interview.

    • @Serai3
      @Serai3 5 лет назад +152

      Only if you're not familiar with how movies are made. A treatment is a 3 to 5 page summary written before a script, to give a solid idea of how the film will go. So this treatment was probably about a page and a half, explaining the ideas for the song and video.

It sounds like the joke initially was "Here's romantic crooner Michael Bolton singing some nasty hardcore lyrics" and by telling them to go in a different direction they came up with something much more creative and funnier. Love the Lonely Island and it sounds like this was a fruitful collaboration!

It was awesome - both in a humorous way, but he also sang really well. I think he's got a chance of going down as the Tony Bennett of the 80s.

    What I like about the song is how amusingly wholesome the chorus is as Bolton nerds out about these movies in contrast to the typical lines about clubbing and rock-star/gangster vulgarities in the verses, so I think Bolton making the song clean was what really sold it for me. he even walked away from the career for a time to make sure he was around. easier for him to do with a pile of money, but most people would just keep producing and pay someone else to handle the kids.
