Whizzer - Six Flags Great America POV

- As one of the park's first coasters it holds a special place in many thrill seekers hearts. This ride features a revolutionary design, spiraling up into the air and zooming down at top speeds of 42 MPH.
In 2012, American Coaster Enthusiasts recognized The Whizzer with the ACE Roller Coaster Landmark Award. - Развлечения
The Whizzer was intended to be removed in 2002, but due to complete outrage, they kept it and removed Shockwave instead.
Wow really I did not know that it ish one of the best. Roller coaster for Family rides
BryceFourn 2001 THANK GOD
Imagine SUF with the foliage 😂😂😂
Or in other words, the outrage of removing Whizzer gave them an excuse to invest money in a cheaper roller coaster and ditch the giant arrow custom looper. classic six flags. You don't want us to take one thing away from you? Then we will just take another instead. And we'll replace it with a boring basic B&M flyer "superman-underwhelming flight." Not that I don't like demon, but if anything they should've removed it instead and used that land for superman because while it's fun Shockwave was epic.
OneAndOnlySound Shockwave was cool, but the ride had way to much maintenance issues which was costly to keep fixing.
This was my first ride at this amusement park. definitely a childhood memory. :3
ALYSON MORRIS me too
Same
What ride🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Oh I'm retarded XD
Same
Who doesn't LOVE a little Whizzer?
Its boring
BLACKHAWKSVISION It isn't that great
I LOVE it! My first ride at the amusement park. It's a childhood memory :3
my brother lol he hates it he is weird
I LOVE whizzing every now and then, but it gets too red so I have to stop for a week
Whizzer is a great classic man! Shoutout to those long time fans for pleading to keep this around
This is the best couples ride lol
The Whizzer was the first coaster for so many people I knew when I was growing up. It's especially magical at night.
I like it but it like a sad version of space mountain and more safer for the little children
First coaster in my life so.....much......memories.
I love that music
Wizzer and Demon remind me about being tall enough to ride Goliath. I can't wait!I've been checking and they have what the cars will look like.
If you haven’t before, this ride is the best at night right before closing because you can’t really see where your going and it’s a nice little ride to end your night
I agree, it was really nice in the dark, especially with the fireworks
A "don't miss" rollercoaster for everyone's bucket list - it's s world classic!!
It’s shit though
The music give me so much nostagia
I'm 22 years old and still love this ride, was on it today!
This is a classic banger
You will come off this ride with a baby
🤣
"The Entertainer" would be a PERFECT nickname for this ride if it weren't longer than the original name
Thank you Six flags for keeping this coaster and tearing down shockwave
Okay this is funny my mom said go to the wizerd and I said mom you said it wrong it's whizzer
Its also the oldest ride at six flags. It was first made it 1976 as the first coasters!
Demon as well.
every time i come here the ride seems to be closed for no reason. a shame, really. my first real roller coaster.
I kinda like this unofficial theme song. Someone should write an original piece for the coaster
seriously, the ice cream truck music!
I hope the Whizzer sticks around for as long as possible. My first coaster, as I imagine is the same for anyone in the surrounding area... makes me so nostalgic. The layout is so fun and sort of transports you to this quieter area through the trees and it's just such a nice vibe. Always ride the Whizzer.
I remember riding this when I was six and I was terrified now I’m nine and I’m just like why was i ever scared of this?
love it
i love this ride its my favorite one of all time
WAIT WHAT
@@Igangbangdetriotgangmembersit’s his opinion-
I got stuck on the wizzer once
I got SUCC in the whizzer once.
It was wonderful
Hope they keep these coasters running especially this one the American Eagle and the Demon they are so iconic and the backbone of Great America's Coasters
This will always be my favorite coaster and this music I will have in my headphones next time I ride💯🙃🤘🏻
New neighbors are a little loud but I love this so much and the seatbelts and in line seating make it feel so classic. This is THE hometown square ride, if only it were wheelchair accessible
I remember riding this over and over and over and *over* again and again and again with my friends...
I love this ride it’s the best
Now that it's officially the off season words can't describe how much I miss this place
this was my first ride here. ITS STILL THE BEST
0:11 is a good part
Nice music!! Fun ride!
The Whizzer is such a great warmup coaster
This ride was intense as a child but I remember my recent visit the seatbelt tried to choke me 💀
My fav rollercoaster
Fitting song; always a strong natural entertainer
From what I understand this is the only roller coaster with a circular lift hill remaining in the world.
Maybe in the US, but not in the world. There are other circular lift hills in the Us, just not the same type as this
There are 25 coasters still operating with a spiral lift, 9 of those being electric (as seen on this coaster). The only other coaster in the US with an electric spiral lift is Jet Star 2 at Lagoon.
Don’t the volare coasters have circular lift hills?!
First coaster at Great America back in 2011
This is exactly what I'd imagine a steel rollercoaster would seem like in the early 20th century if they had existed then; this literally sounds like a steam engine
I rode this ride with my crush ;)
did it go well?
Demon in 100 feet whizzer: 68.
whizzer was my 2nd favorite ride
a snall but fun coaster fun for all ages
I love the music lol
We at Kansas City may have lost our Schwarzkopf Zinger, but good on you guys for saving your Whizzer!
What’s your view on the new wooden coaster tribute to it?
@@runier2352 A wooden coaster built by GCI debuting it’s new RMC inspired Titan Track complete with elements mirroring the old classic including a spiral lift, a turn around the lift, a tunnel and a new zigzag element? What’s not to love? :)
Six Flags should build an identical coaster at The Great Escape in Lake George. The only problem is the manufacturer doesn't exist anymore, but it's such a cute, nice family coaster !
I went to Six Flags Great America when I was younger. I was hoping for a good time but this ride ended up being my first and last ride of the day… The ride’s restraints heavily sprained my ankle cutting my time at Great America way too short. Six Flags sent me to a non emergency clinic several miles away where I was put in a cast for about a week. Ever since then I have hated this ride for ruining my time there…
i love SixFlags
Yessss
Six Flags over Texas had a coaster very much like this. It was called Big Bend. Sadly, it was removed decades ago.
California's Great America used to have an exact clone of this ride, but unfortunately it was removed in 1988.
The first time I rode it, It seemed a lot faster
Cool
Why does this coaster structure vaguely remind me of a batting cage?
@1:39.......the bushes on each side of the track are honeysuckle. When in bloom (late Spring) it's a dive into sweet perfume!....surround smell.
I remember wanting Shockwave to stay for some reason
GREAT AMERICA
What song is playing in the background?
0:11 0:16 0:43 and 1:13 have a nice toon.

That has to be the only original ride left in the park...I remember riding that one several times.
well to add there are only 2 of these rides left in operation in the world also a great starter ride for kids
No there are quite a decent amount of rides still around from 1976.
0:43 is another good part
0:16 is also a good part
This video would be better without the music added over it so watchers can hear the sounds the coaster makes.. ;) I bet they didnt put the Demon song over the on ride video of the Demon... (FIX DEMONS LIGHT TUNNEL PLEASE!!!)
I never realize how the Whizzer can make the Golden Ticket Awards' Top 50 steel roller coasters from time to time, but when it does, it is the best coaster with a 36" height requirement.
Actually it's 48 inches, but the demon is 36 inches for some reason idk why
+Drumdudeexplosives No, They're both 42 inches, but you can ride Whizzer with an adult when you're 36 inches.
Sadly they removed the Whizzer in California's great America in Santa Clara California in the 1990's
1:13 is the last favorite part I have
My first Roller Coaster!
the drop was much steeper when I rode it
The time that me and my head was on the ride put. We were sitting in the front as we were going up she had. Unbukeld the seat belt .I all most fail out of the ride
Learn how to spell things
whizzer? more like RIZZER HAHAHHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
0:11
Wasn’t this one replaced with something else? The demon of I’m correct.
Max its ben here when six flags open in 1967. *facepalm* know you're history
This Six Flags originally opened in 1976 under Marriott ownership.
Steve h First of all, wrong your. Not you're, your. Your is possessive and you're is short for you are. And yeah, it opening in 1976. rcdb.com/113.htm Shwarzkopf didn't even start designing and building the Speedracer Jumbo Jet model until 1971 when Big Bend was built at Six Flags Over Texas.
+Steve h I'm not going to say that you're wrong because the people above me already did. But maybe he meant it was the first roller coaster he rode at Great America. The lack of words in his sentence do provide not as much information, therefore making the sentence hard to understand. I was at first confused by his comment as well.
Was this filmed before Goliath? I cant tell
Goliath was added in 2014 and this was filmed in 2013, so yes.
I miss how it used to be. Fun, clean, fresh, decent food, good crowd. Now its super ghetto!
This must be after the 1977 Summer . WHY you ask ?
just gonna say that superman: ultimate flight would have been insane in this plot of land
0:16
At 0:47 my sisters friend reached out and almost broke her arm
SirRexington lol
This is the only Schwarzkopf Racer in america
Left
And now why did they chop all the trees down ? Maybe too many people back then grabbing for them ? 😏
Olive Andrew They cant remove it Its A land mark they can close it but not remove it
Steve h ACE Coaster Landmark in 2012
I still miss the one at Great America in Santa Clara, back when it was still cool, and called Marriotts Great America. The park is a shithole dump now. No more defining sections, everything runs together....sad
They've really been turning it around in recent years - they've removed much of the ugly asphalt in the park, rethemed several buildings and rides to make them less amusement park-ish, added a state-of-the-art RMC coaster and GCI, restored the effects on Demon and Flight Deck, and built a brand new waterpark that's actually good. There's still a lot for them to do, but they're definitely on the right track.
Ummm, The Entertainer? Really? It was built in 1976, not 1890 :p
+11jupitercowboy8 Theme parks use old songs like this depending on the theming
They should've took down American eagle, it's old and it broke down like a million times
Brandon Greene cough *GP* cough
American Eagle is another one that should be landmarked IMO-yes, it's old (by coaster standards) but it's an absolute classic American wooden RACING coaster and as such is a rather rare & unique experience in this day & age of cheap thrill coasters. When it's operating properly, the 2 cars (red & blue) go up side by side and shoot the rest of the course the same way. It's a pretty exhilirating sight to look over (say...in the helix turns) and see the other car just below & ahead of you! It really gives you a sense of speed & scale! I've also had the joy of riding it BACKWARDS, which I think they do during Fright Fest. Alas, the problem is that their footprint is 'landlocked', meaning they have no room for expansion. It's been this way for years, and I'm not certain as to why. I believe the surrounding farmland is simply...not for sale. Therefore to add newer, more exciting rides, older ones must be sacrificed, sadly. And, it's a tough call...the Demon is also a classic, and still sees alot of love & riders. That corkscrew after a double loop! Awesome! But I'd rather see it go than the Eagle.
My first and until frequenting Disney, only coaster. Scared the crap out of me when I went on it. Now it looks boring.

This is the reason shockwave closed and it’s not even good
Whizzer is a classic! It’s meant to be a family coaster.
Wake up unless all you want is shock/thrill bs..This Realness is not for you lol👍🏻
