Still the tallest, fastest, longest double racing wooden coaster in the world. She’s showing her age and the winters are not kind to her. I still love the Eagle as much today as when I first rode it in 1981. Driving by her on I-94 is still a glorious site. Especially at night all lit up. The 2nd airtime hill before the helix, the trains hit the up stops. In the early days the brakes were not set going in to the 2nd helix and the trains flew through right into the brake run. She doesn’t race anymore, or at least very rarely. Also, in the early years, the queue filled the old circus tent. There were 2 concession stands in the queue. There was also a band stand where live music played while you waited the 2+ hours to ride. It was amazing.
Good Stuff My Friend !!
Sad it doesn’t race anymore. I was 7 or 8 and rode it back in 87/88. Now need to lose weight so I can ride it again because knowing it’s old, wanna ride that coaster one more time before any chance it’s gone.
Rode that back in 1981. Was 13 at the time. Haven’t been back since. It’s still an awesome sight. That’s for the great video!
I hope they never shut this ride down. It's still one of my favorites at Six Flags Great America. It always was.
1983, Summer nights around 9:55p.m., .....I miss you Stevie.
I rode it when it opened, and years later I was back in the park installing "Bugs Bunny's :Las Vegas Revue" and they let us ride it a few times. Then Bugs moved out to Santa Clara and I kind of went with.
Such a beautifully shot POV. Well done.
Was this filmed this year? I was under the impression Red Side was open for this season.
Hmmm! Not quite as high as my beloved Colossus was, but still looks fabulous. I love my Twisted Colossus but every now and then I miss the rattle and hum away of a real classic Woody. If I can’t be Colossus, it can be another one like it. I wish it raced though
Was 2 feet taller than colossus and had a 20 ft longer drop.
They are about the same height but the Eagle was 127 ft tall and the drop is 150. It goes underground a bjt. It’s great when racing. Hopefully they turn it into a hybrid like the Colossus. Red train is always the best ride.
Its really fun but scary when it started creeking since its old wood
erm what the sigma
Me riding hades 360° for the first time in 2021 felt like riding this coaster
bro every time i go here it’s always closed
I love the Eagle but man is it screaming for a rebuild type coaster from RMC. Now that would be epic stuff right there
The American Steagle is something we all dream of, but tbh, we'd miss eagle too much
Goliath is already an RMC
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Too bad red side wasn’t open. Its ending has more hills.
This ride needs to be replaced by something more modern. Takes up a huge amount of real estate and it’s not a major park attraction anymore
It should be refurbished. Still my favorite coaster.
@@courtneyhart8362 That's how I feel also. They just need to get it refurbished
This is a golden oldie and beats any RMC Frankenstein.
it should be retracked, reinforced, and set to duel again, with some trains backwards. woodies like this just simply arent made anymore, and the few remaining ones should be treated like a national treasure instead of being torn down or rmc'd.
