    Just sent u a 🍺, thanks for this series of Starlink videos. Very usefull/relevant to me. I have 20/2 speeds from BT in the UK and FTTP not planned until 2026 :-(. Seriously considering binning BT (phone and broadband) to part fund the SL option.

      Starling has gone down to £90 for hardware for rural locations today. I think I might have to purchase it. Can you tell me how it effects the home network? I’m worried about all the smart devices I have connected to my by router. (Powerwall,smart switches Wi-Fi security cameras etc.) is it a lot of work to change to the new router(with the Ethernet adaptor)? Or does it just work if you change your starling network name to the same as before?

    • @Egobroom24
      @Egobroom24 Год назад

      I guess another question would be to do with how does it work with Wi-Fi extenders? Do you have full house coverage?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  Год назад

      @@Egobroom24 The Starlink access point does not support WiFi extenders itself, so you would need to buy the Ethernet adapter and connect the Starlink AP to another Wireless setup that can support extenders.

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  Год назад

      @@Egobroom24 I would recommend you buy the Ethernet Adapter and just connect into your existing network gear, no changes needed and will keep things simple for you.

    Waiting for delivery of my starlink. Currently running 4G home router on our farm. Best we get is 12mbs and dropping out multiple times a night sometimes 5-10 minutes at a time. BT line lucky if we get over 1mb.

    Is it £75 a month on a subscription over 1-2-3 years or just £75 a month whether you use it next month or not ? No one says 🤔

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  8 месяцев назад

      Its a month by month thing, so £75 per month and you can cancel at any time.

    Hi Dale, really enjoyed your videos regarding Starlink, we are trying to get a leased line to our property however the planning for this means it's going to take at least 6 months to get installed. Therefore we are looking at renting Starlink to help before that happens. We also have Ubiquiti hardware in our property and have a UDM Pro as our main router. I wondered if you could tell me how easy it was to connect Starlink to it please. I assume you needed to join the Starlink router to the Unify router you have (i'e connect to the WAN port). Did you have any issues or gotchas you found out while doing this?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  Год назад

      Hey Matt, glad the videos are helping, and I think Starlink rental is a great stop gap in your situation.
      As for setting up with your UDM Pro (nice bit of kit btw) the only dependancy is you buy the Ethernet Adapter for Starlink as there is no ethernet connectivity otherwise, and then within the Starlink app select that you are using your own router, and then connect the ethernet from the Starlink Dongle to your WAN port and you are good to go.
      The only real downside is that you lose access to the Starlink sat info, stats, etc

      @@SpectrumGeeks Hi Dale, thanks for the info. I've gone ahead and ordered Starlink (think me and my boys are sort of excited to try it out!). Sounds like it should also be good to connect to my existing environment too then. I downloaded the app and went out into the garden to check if there was going to be any issues with obstructions, however that also seems to be ok too... It's all going far too well! ;-) Once I get it all and set it up I'll drop you a message and let you knwo how it went. thanks again for all the info. Matt

    For anyone still considering Starlink the hardware in the UK is currently £99.

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  Год назад

      Just to clarify for people reading the comments, the £99 offer is not available for all postcodes. It is aimed at Rural locations, so not all UK orders will be £99.

      @@SpectrumGeeks They must think that the whole of Scotland is 'rural'. 🤣🤣 I have tried a few postcodes including where I live and it brings up the order page and gets you right as far a purchase screen after putting in shipping address.
