Just ordered mine yesterday for up in Sheffield. Looking forward to it arriving. My 4G Router with 3 worked great with around 100 down for 2 year and the last year it’s been terrible. No plans for openreach to bring fibre to the area so went for this option. Thanks for the video
Ordered mine a couple of days ago, can’t wait to get rid of BT. Brother in Law has one on my recommendation and he gets 230 download consistently in the arse end of Derbyshire. Game Changer.
I got the kit a week ago and i have been on it for 4 days in my RV also in the UK. I am in the south west waiting to board a ferry to Spain - currently getting 226/18 which is not bad at all for a bottle of the barrel best effort service!. I got the half price offer which they are currently doing which was £300. Also worth noting there is now a rental option for £15 a month with £95 setup fee
I live in the middle of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park...pretty much as rural as it gets, I am yet to have a day where my download speed drops below 220MBps. It I the best investment I made when moving. The biggest downfall is the size of the connector to the router...If you have to go through a wall you need a BIG hole...I happen to live in a 1820's converted cowshed the walls are about 18" thick so at the moment it is permanently hanging out an open window. To try and get every question answered...it took 5 days for it to arrive from ordering and that was in February 2023...so quick in fact I hadn't even moved and I had to ask the Estate Agent to sign for it. TLDR; I would recommend it to anyone!
@@SpectrumGeeks Hey thanks...yeah the issue I'm having is how thick my walls are. I'm going to get the dish put on my roof and run it through that way.
lol, that's so funny spacex says specifically to line it up facing true north, but they've updated it for people that can't follow that advice to make it tun around to face north 😂😂
Not sure I follow. The dish comes horizontal (so facing straight up), and in my situation, once it configured itself it faces South West. So not sure what you are referencing in terms of SpaceX saying to line it up facing true north.
We are on a lake with one main house and 5 holiday lodges. Could I use one satlink and route to all 5 on an internal network or would contention just be too much do you think!
@@SpectrumGeeks Thanks! I know they have been using CGNAT for a long time, which would mean port forwarding is not possible. But if you’re getting a dynamic IP it must mean they are moving away from CGNAT. Thanks for the info, I’ll look into it again.
Working great overall, there is some speed interruptions now and again, but still much better than the broadband option I could get via the phone company in my location.
Suprised your 4g connection was poor despite you being close to a mast? Similar situation to me, I use the ee network on average I'd say download is 70 with up around 20/30 consistently. I have a neighbour who uses smartee and I don't think his connection is that good either.
What on God's green earth is the point ? You have sky or Virgin in doors. You pay a monthly on that. Then your media. Then on top streaming services if your daft like me. Then a mobile phone. Pay for handset and on top your air time. And then you go buy one of these ? Plus £75 a month ? To speed you net up a bit ? ? ?
No Sky or Virgin here, and you need decent Internet for streaming and WFH. Also the speed increase was more than abit, it was 1220% faster, so totally worth it.
@@bdd606Starlink is just an ISP, like any other provider. Any other services are on top, no different to if Sky is your ISP, the TV packages are not free, its just all part of the cost. Starlink is for people in rural locations that cant benefit from standard ISP offerings to get a decent speed.
Still don't understand people that run constant speedtests. If it works then why check speed? Simple question is... Can you do everything you need to do on the connection? If it takes longer to do something then that's life.
I am running the speed tests here to help people understand how the system performs. However, I think its good for people to run period checks (even if things seem to be working fine) to ensure you are getting the performance you are paying for.
@@theFury1111 you are failing to understand that a lot fo rural / remote locations in the UK have minimal to no connectivity and those with minimal connectivity charge crazy amounts for the poor connectivity so Starlink gives people a less extortianate option which is mostly reliable.
@@theFury1111 B.S. This is internet with global coverage. It is dirt cheap for what it is. It is not meant to compete with fiber or 5G for people in a city, but for those having poor to no internet. 20 years ago I worked in the Arctic and we had 64kbs and 500ms ping for 600$ a month. Now they have OneWeb and Starlink for less than we paid back then.
Nice to see a real experience for uk. Looking forward to part 2
Glad you enjoyed it
@@SpectrumGeeks how much is it per month?

Excellent, its not cheap, but the performance has been very reliable since I installed it.
Looking forward to part 2, thinking to get a starlink for my parents, bt service in rural Norfolk if pathetic and extortionately priced.
Hope to have it released this Sunday. Short story is its working well, and much better now I have mounted it and using the Ethernet adapter.

Thanks for sharing Pete. My next update video about the Starlink is the fact its now rentable in the UK, so good coincidence :)
@@SpectrumGeeks Looking forward to it :)
Just ordered Starlink , price is significantly cheaper atm intrested in the Ethernet adapter for my network system so looking forward to next video

If you see my mounting video, I think it was a 19mm hole I made to get the connector cable through.

That would work fine.
I have been to a caravan park that uses Starlink for their site Internet connection without issues.
Great download speed on your 3 test, what area in the UK are you?
In Worcestershire
Great Vid, what's the ping?
Depends what you are relating to.
If its gaming, as an idea, my son plays Fortnite and gets about a 34 ping.
@@SpectrumGeeks That's amazing thanks
Hello how are you and how is your Starlink
Doing well thanks, and Starlink is working brilliantly.
I Just Want To Ask " WHY "👀❓ it's a "RIPOFF" & the speed ain't all that either 🤔 it Drops "Off" & "out" totally at Times....
Its better than no Internet, in the time I had it, it worked flawlessly.
@@SpectrumGeeks That's the only situation it's viable 👍🏻
One of the big reasons I was put off by StarLink was the lack of an externally routable IP address. Do you know if that is still the case?
Don't think this is an issue anymore. I am using the assigned IP (appears to be static) for hosting externally accessible content without issue.

Yeah was abit of a let down on the 4G, but Starlink is performing very well.
Water proof?
Yes. It also heats itself up to de-ice in extreme weather such as snow.
I'm getting serious issues trying to run anything on RUclips, can anyone help?
Not had any issues myself, so can't help I am afraid.
